“ Brand: Revlon / Type: Body Spray / Suitable for: Body „
Charlie Secret has been one of my preferred scents for a long while now, since it was originally bought for me as a birthday present. The scent is very soft and sweet, and reminds me of wispy clouds and flowers, or maybe like being wrapped up in silk. I would suggest this is a scent that only really girls will enjoy, because it really does smell very feminine. However, it is a scent that I think the girls will want to keep to themselves as its so lovely. It would probably suit feminine girls, or those with a secret love for soft, cuddly things. I don't think that it would mix well with those people who have a very strong personal scent though, as its main failing is that its lightness causes it to be easily dispersed/worn away. The packaging is very nice, in a purple to silver gradient, with a clearly labelled "Charlie Secret" title. It has, continuing the theme, a purple curvy nozzle, and a small purple lid.
Although I like Impulse body spray, I am certainly not brand loyal, and as soon as I can get a bargain on some smellies, I will have a try and see what I like. This Body Spray normally sells for £1.60 in my local Asda, but now and again it is on offer for £1, so I bought a couple from the range to try. Charlie Body Spray is made by Revlon. Although it has the brand named makers, you can often pick this up in pound shops. I think the Charlie name has been going since 1990 at a guess, as this wat my choice of Perfume when I was 11 or that, and nothing could beat Charlie Red in my view - how times change when you grow up eh? This is in a 75ml can, which is average for Body Sprays. The tin is a deep purple colour which fades near the bottom and looks like purple mixed in with silver. It has the Charlie logo on the front in squiggly writing and Secret below that. I thought the Secret part should have stood out a bit more, as it doesn't exactly catch you eye. This has a small purple plastic lid as well. Now to the scent. I quite liked the smell of this, but it was quite a heavy smell. On the back it says the smell is A alluring blend of mandarin, Cassia Flower and Heliotrope. I don't have a clue what they are apart from the Mandarin, and I couldn't smell any kind of Citrus smell in here. It is a musky scent which I think has a smell of Parma Violet in it as well. I also think due to the musky scent, it would be more an evening scent and not a fresh daytime one. I would buy again, as it is nice enough but I have smelt a lot nicer smells that are more "me" than this one.
Body fragrances to me are slightly different to your run of the mill body sprays. I never thought this until recently and I always picked up whatever can of whatever I saw when out and about and used it as I saw fit but what I have noticed with body fragrances is they seem to last longer on the skin and stay alot more fragrant than the usual sprays and I've also learnt it's worth paying a few extra pennies for a decent brand. I love body spray and quite often carry a can around with me. I like to freshen up on the go and not only smell good but feel clean and confident too but my obsession with sprays now is getting out of control (read my reviews lol), simply.. I own far too many lol Luckily though I only buy and like brands I can get stuff on offer and that so at least my obsession isn't costing me an absolute fortune although I'm over run with stuff and it's taking over my life lately lol 'Charlie'. Well it's an old fashioned brand in my opinion and one I haven't took alot of notice of in recent years. It's been around donkeys and I remember my Mum using the perfume when I was a young nipper and then when I got to the age of wanting perfume I thought I was posh to use Charlie 'Red' lol With the variety of perfumes and body sprays on the market nowadays I no longer need to limit myself to certain brands so I haven't seen it about in a long time. However when I saw this product I bought this for one reason and one reason alone. I love the colour purple and the can is purple lol Also it was 99p reduced from £1.99 so it seemed a good buy! Not that I needed it...grr at me lol The Packaging.... 75ml aluminium can with purple integrating to silverish at the bottom. There is a purple matching plastic lid situated at the top and over that a matching, integrated push button. On the front all in white writing I'm told it's New Charlie 'Secret', Perfumed Body Fragrance, Deodorant Perfume and on the bottom in capital letters that's it's a Revlon product. On the back (again in white writing) I'm told a bit about the product, directions for use are given, cautions, and then all that in a foreign language, contact details for Revlon are listed, the flammable and recycle symbols are shown and finally there is a bar-code. I like the packaging of this alot. It looks simple and classy and all sort of matches which gives it a neat and sophisticated look. A Bit About The Product (According To The Back Of The Can).... Get in the know with new Charlie Secret! An alluring blend of mandarin, cassia flower and helitrope. The Charlie Collection. A fragrance to suit every mood, giving you the confidence to do your thing. Using It.... Simple. Push the button down and spray where desired onto a clean body (for best results lol). I spray onto myself from arms length and the spray comes out cold but not at all wet and as more of a fine mist. Now I use this as an all over body fragrance if I'm simply staying it or knocking about and not doing much or I use it as a body spray and use my chosen perfume too. It's up to you of course. The smell is beautiful, unusual and sophisticated. Although vanilla isn't mentioned as an ingredient that's what my nostrils tells ME it is made up of lol. I can smell vanilla mixed with flowers really. It's deep, layered and rich and is very highly fragranced indeed. Although it contains mandarin I can't smell that but this has a candy floss, sweet smell to it which really doesn't make this too girly or childish but it remains sophisticated somehow. It's just very difficult to describe it but it is warm and enveloping and me I like to use this as an all over spray including neck and wrists and places because not only does it smell lovely when first applied it stays rich and strong on the skin for a good few hours and it also fragrances clothes without putting on any nasty, sticky residue. Basically you apply this one and go. If you want to rinse the smell off you and your clothes.. easily done. You can forget this is there and get on with your day! Am I fan?...absolutely. It's beautifully blended, feminine and not in your face. It's just lovely and rich and not one bit old fashioned! Can be found in all good supermarkets and chemist at about £1.99 a can but do look out for special offers! This review is also posted on Ciao under this same username.
