Until recently I had been using Asda's Essential Care deodorant but the supermarket have recently overhauled their product line and stopped production of the product I used. I was paying around 70p for the shop's own brand and I found both price and performance to be excellent for me. In terms of sweating I consider myself to be quite a heavy sweater. I do suffer from anxiety which makes the problem worse and at times I would say I suffer from hyper-hydrosis. Finding deodorants and anti-perspiant products that actually work on me has always been a problem. That's why when I found the cheap Asda brand worked a treat I stuck with it for years. I was really worried when I found out that they had ceased production and I found myself not knowing which brand to try. I actually tried another one of Asda's own brand first but when it did not work I asked advice from a friend. She told me that she'd heard that 'Mitchum' deodorant was supposed to be good for people like me, so I bought a bottle of it. It was £1.50 on offer from Asda but the full normal retail price was over £2.

The product is in a larger bottle than I'm used to handling - this is a 100ml bottle so you get a lot. It comes in a green bottle with a plastic roller ball top. The lid screws on and off with ease. The bottle is large enough so that you can get a good grip when applying the product. There is some basic information about the product on the labels. According to my bottle this product has a new formula containing soothing aloe and skin boosting vitamin E. Reading the label also tells me that this is a woman's only deodorant and provides protection for up to 48 hours. It is also marked as being capable of minimising white marks on clothing.

Until recently I did not know there was a difference between an anti-perspirant and a deodorant. Apparantly deodorant covers up sweaty smells whilst anti-perspirants actually stop you from sweating by blocking pores. Well this Mitchum product is both a deodorant and an anti-perspirant so it has a scent to cover up sweat odours but also stops sweat emerging at all.

To use the product you have to shake the bottle first then roll the ball over your armpit. I find that the thick liquid emerges quickly and is quite profuse but it doesn't drip or anything as it has a white powdery gelatinous consistency. I therefore don't need to roll many times over the same area as it would end up too saturated. The liquid when it hits your skin stays wet momentarily then dries within a reasonable amount of time to form a protective layer. I have never felt like I'm waiting around for this to dry on my armpits, it's always dry by the time I come to put my clothes on.

The product is called 'Powder Fresh' and it's fragrance suits this term. It smells very clean and sharp and a bit like talc or cotton that has just been washed. I like the scent very much as it makes me feel feminine and ultra fresh.

In terms of how well this product performs then I can't fault it. Since using it I've never noticed myself sweating even when I've been very hot or nervous. It's great to be able to swing my arms by my sides and feel that my underarms are dry and soft. I have never needed to wait 48 hours before washing this off but it certainly works for a day and I don't feel sweaty or smelly at the end of the day. I'm very pleased with how it performs and am relieved to have found a deodorant/anti-perspirant product that works on someone like me! I would really reccommend this to other nervous sweaters too. It's also great if you excerise a lot like me as it keeps the heavy odours under control. Although it's a little more expensive than I'm used to paying I will gladly pay for the priviledge of using this!

You should not use this product on broken skin or if a rash occurs. You can also get an alternative fragrance called 'Pure Fresh' in the women's products and you can also get a 24 hour protection formula rather than the 48 hour ones.
