“ Brand: Sanex / Deodorant - Spray / Gender: for women / Type: Deodorant Spray / Suitable for: Body „
I used to just go into a shop and buy the deodrant that was the cheapest or on 2-4-1. I discovered this deodrant when I was going to a festival. It said 48 hour on it and I was a bit sceptical but thought it must be better than some of the other products on the market. I was amazed this deodrant lasts and lasts even at a hot festival where you are dancing and walking lots. It smells a bit of soap when spraying but its very non offensive. Its doesn't leave any white marks or stains on clothes. It lasts well and there are two different sizes, both reasonably priced. The bottle is not the prettiest but who cares if it works well. I have used some of the other deodrants in the Sanex range which do smell nicer but don't seem to have the same lasting effect as this one. I have struggled with allergies towards some deodrants before but never had problems with this one.
I'm not brand loyal at all especially when it comes to deodorants and as I have said before in similar reviews I tend to favour the likes of Sure and Dove the most, however will buy whatever tends to be on offer. On a recent visit to Superdrug for something completely unrelated I found myself being drawn towards a promotional stand where several different varieties of Sanex deodorants were on offer. After deciding on an anti-perspirant deodorant spray entitled Sanex Dermo Extra Control I popped it in my basket and proceeded to the checkout.
*~*Price,packaging & availability*~*
This deodorant spray comes in a decent sized 250ml tin and cost me just £1.09 whilst on offer, though the usual RRP is almost double this at around the £2.20 mark (at Superdrug anyway) but it is depending on where you choose to shop of course as prices will vary from store to store.
The design of the packaging is quite minimal being predominantly white with blue panels here and there and the logo in a bold white font at the top of the tin. There is an integrated nozzle which is directly on top of the tin and this is in a darker blue plastic material which in turn is protected by a plastic transparent lid.
Availability wise, Sanex seems to be growing more popular as the years go on and can be found in most shops/ supermarkets/ chemists etc that sell anti-perspirant products.
*~*What makes it different from other deodorants?*~*
Sanex deodorants have a unique Dermo Active 3 Complex which apparently does the following:
*Offers protection for up to 48 hours
*Gives softer and smoother skin by moisturising
*Dermatologically tested and allows skin to breathe
*~*My experience of using this product*~*
This isn't the first time I have used this deodorant as I remember buying it frequently around 10 years ago, then for some reason my local Superdrug store seemed to stop stocking it so I returned to my usual fall backs of Sure and Dove. I'm sure it's always been readily available at other outlets but as I live less than 10 minutes walk from my house I tend to shop there for convenience.
I remember liking it years ago because of the ultra fresh fragrance that accompanied it so when I saw it recently on the special offer display I decided to buy it for nostalgic reasons (and the fact it was half price swayed my decision).
On returning home I decided to test this out later that evening after a soak in the bath, and after drying myself off afterwards I proceeded to lightly spray the aerosol under each arm.
A few short sharp blasts seemed enough to suffice under each arm at the time and the deodorant emits at a rapid pace when the button is pressed.
The deodorant is clear which surprised me as for some reason I thought it was more of a powdery white, maybe it did used to be I can't quite remember but now at least it is in the form of a transparent mist that is extremely fine.
The fragrance is just how I remember and has a very fresh powdery scent to it that is actually reminiscent of Dove in a way - like a clean soapy scent that smells shower fresh.
On applying the deodorant seems to cover the area well by just aiming under my arm as the nozzle is quite wide so not much of the actual product is needed per application which to me makes it economical as less is wasted. The Sanex anti-perspirant feels smooth on my skin and though doesn't feel moist like some sprays can it also doesn't feel dry and 'crumbly' like other brands (Imperial Leather I'm talking about you).
*~*Results and recommendation*~*
I liked instantly how Sanex felt against my skin when applied as some deodorants can make my underarms feel taut and sore but this product feels soft and talc like. The fragrance is so fresh and is ideal as a unisex product as it's neither feminine nor masculine just soapy fresh so I knew that my husband would end up using it. (Which he did and was very impressed by for the record).
After using that initial first time I was pleased that the next morning the first thing I noticed when I woke up was the fresh Sanex scent that had lingered on my skin throughout the night. It's not too overpowering so won't interfere with any perfumes or colognes when used and has such a pleasant scent that when I use this I don't always feel the need to wear a perfume as I love the fragrance of it that much.
Performance wise this is supposed to give protection for 48 hours though I can't comment there as I don't go that long without washing though when used first thing in a morning this keeps me feeling both fresh and dry for up until the early evening. I don't drive so walk a lot especially on the school run and to the local supermarket but I always feel confident that I will still smell fresh and clean when I've used this. This doesn't cause any soreness or rashes and feels silky soft under my arms after applying so I can't complain at all.
This is highly recommended because it works at keeping my arms dry, smells great and doesn't cause any white marks on clothing either which is very important with me.
Top marks from me as I can't find anything negative to say at all!
I bought this deodrant along with another in the range (a 'no-white marks' version) from superdrug when it was on offer (something like 2 for £4). I hadn't used Sanex before but thought it was a good offer and the promises on the packaging sounded like what I was looking for.
First alarm bell - they sell a no white marks version. I should have realised this because this dermo extra control one is a nightmare for me for white marks! I wear a lot of black clothes and dark clothes for work and some of them have terrible deodorant marks on them which don't always come out in the wash.
The deodorant comes in a large aerosol can which is pretty tall and has a standard spray top and a lid. You get 250ml in the can .
It claims on the can that it "keeps skin healthy" and it says it is an "anti-perspirant deodorant 48H 0% alcohol". There is also a little circle which says "dermo active 3". From all of these good-sounding things I would expect this deodorant to really last for a long time with no need for re-application. I would expect it to feel soft on my skin. On the back it is explained that Dermo active 3 means it protects your skin for 48 hours, it moisturises for softer and smoother skin and it allows your skin to breathe.
I have been using this deodorant for a while now and I am a fairly active person and I wwouldn't say I had a perspiration problem. I typically apply this product before work. It is supposed to protect your skin for 48 hours - but protect it from what? It certainly isn't protecting against feeling a bit sweaty or from being paranoid about smelling!
By the end of a long and busy day, I have been known to think I can smell myself and become paranoid that I smell. Not what you are looking for in a "48H protection" deodorant. This is one of the worst things because it doesn't do what it is meant to and you shouldn't have to reapply within about 10 hours.
Also when I put this on, sometimes I use quite a lot (because using a normal amount clearly wasn't working) and I feel like I smell of deodorant for a bit afterwards. This is not a nice smell as there seems to be no perfumes etc to make you smell nice. Even when I apply perfume I still thing the overpowering smell of deodorant can still be detected.
This is non-irritating after shaving etc which is about the only good thing about it.
Overall I am really disappointed and shan't be buying it again.
Sanex....not a very feminine sounding name for a deodorant i dont think. I'll admit the name of this brand is the reason i didnt even bother giving it a second look as i reminds me of sanitary towels or something, not wot im wanting to be thinking of when wanting a clean smelling deodarant!
Anyway after trying nearly even other brand of spray in my local stores i finally picked this up and i wish i had done it so much sooner! I got this in my local Semi Chem for about £1.70ish for a can of 250ml which is cheaper than i have been paying for a way smaller can of Dove or Nivea.
I got this in a scent called micro talc which isnt the best smell and smells a bit like a mans deodorant to tell the truth but its definately for women! It claims to give up to 48 hours of protection and like most anti-perspirants this isnt totally true, and really why would you be wanting it to protect you for 48 hours anyway? Are people not showering everyday anymore and using things like this to avoid good personal hygeine habits?!
I did find that even when i was excercising i didnt sweat as much as usual and even when i did start to get a bit warm, that i could smell the spray. Also i like the spray nozzle as it sprays quite wide so your underarms are getting good coverage and it didnt do that flaky thing that i find normally happens with the Dove go fresh sprays, in that if you spray your underarms more than one it goes all white and flaky and goes all over your clothes. I found that about 4 hours before i start to feel like i need to reapply which i dont mind and is better that more expensive brands. I will definately buy this again when i run it, but might see if it comes in a more feminine friendly fragrance!
I am now a dedicated follower of this deodorant. It is extremely good at preventing sweaty outbreaks and wet patches at the wrong moment as its exta dry control name implies. Having a tendency to sweat has meant I have had to shop around for a deodorant that keeps me dry, particularly as I play a lot of sport and regularly exercise. The smell of this deodorant, is rather nice and neutral, clean and fresh, not overpoweringly alcoholic. It is very gentle on delicate under arm skin, and certainly a wise investment if you wax or epilate under arm hair. I have not had to re-apply this deodorant once I have used it first thing in the morning and feel it is probably one of the best if not the best product for perspiration on the market. Overall, very impressed with it, left me feeling dry and secure, would recommend it to anybody who has difficulty finding an intense enough deodorant.
I do like to try and use new and different deodorants as I have never really found one that I am completely happy with.
There are so many different brands and versions on the market that they take up a whole aisle in the supermarket and sad though it may sound I do like to look at them all before I purchase one. I spotted the Sanex deodorant on offer and as I had used and liked the moisturiser i decided to give it a go.
===== The Product ====
Sanex deodorant comes in a standard size tin with a blue lid and the deodorant is dispensed through an aerosol lid on the top.
It is designed as a 48 Hour anti -perspirant deodorant and has no alcohol unlike some deodorants on the market.
It has a unique Dermo Active 3 complex which offers three benefits to help keep you skin healthy.
1- Protection - offers 48 Hour effective protection
2 - Moisurisation - Helps keep your skin soft and smooth
3 - Balance - Allows your skin to breathe.
The deodorant is dermatologically tested and has a fine talc in the spray.
====Using The Product ====
When I first tried the deodorant it was very easy to use and the size of the dispenser meant that I was able to place it where needed and I was surprised that it didn't create a huge white cloud of mist which usually accompanies the deodorants I have used.
==== Scent ====
The scent of the deodorant was quite subtle and not overpowering and the scent for me was very much like fresh cotton and it was not a synthetic scent but was very natural.
==== White Bits! ====
It did leave a little white mark on my clothes however and I think that this must be down to the fine talc that it is the product although I do have to say that it rubbed off easily.
==== How My Skin Felt====
My skin also felt very soft and smooth after application and stayed that way throughout the day and I didn't appear to perspire as much.
I also noticed that even after shaving it did not sting at all.
==== 48 Hour Protection ====
I am sorry but even in the name of research I was not brave enough to go for 48 Hours without re-applying although as I said it lasted all day without needing to be topped up.
====My Conclusion ====
I think that this is one of the best deodorants that I have ever tried.
It kept me feeling fresh all day long and it left my skin feeling smooth and clean and I didn't perspire as much as I would usually. I also loved the fact that I could use it after shaving and not have the horrid stinging feel.
It did leave a few white marks but I can live with that for the great protection that it offers.
I have avoided using the sweat word because as my fabulous Grandma used to say
"Animals sweat - Men perspire - Women glow!"
==== Cost And Availability ====
I purchased mine in Asda and it was on offer for £1.00 but I think that its usually around the £2.00 point. its available in most supermarkets and chemists.
Sainsbury is, at the time of writing offering about two thirds of Sanex deodorants at half price- so needing deodorant and always with a keen eye for a bargain- I opted for the Extra Control version as I am going to an all day wedding shortly and won't get much, if any, opportunity to freshen up all day.
Now I opted for this version because it claims to keep you fresh for 48 hours- I was hoping it would last for about 16 hours and that length of time seems to have some credibility- but who would want 48 hours? Now us older members of the population often heard the mantra "always make sure your knickers are clean in case you get run over by a bus", but I was never told - make sure your deodorant lasts at least 48 hours in case you are stuck on gurney in A & E for a while post bus impact!.
So I confess I cannot tell you if this anti perspirant, non alcohol micro talc deodorant will work for the 48 hours- sorry but not even for Dooyoo am I willing to lay down my shower gel. But I can confirm that it works very well for 24 hours -as that, I suspect is all most of us need . I am happy to inform you- you will remain fresh from morning till morning.
Sanex say this deodorant will keep your skin healthy and I can confirm that my armpits have registered no diseases whilst I have been using Sanex, but then they have not been known to complain- ever.
The roll on action is good and the 50ml contents is the standard quantity you can expect for the average priced deodorant. The roll on is in the upside down system, which is to my mind is always a plus, ensuring you can get all the product out easily and without the ball drying out.
Now if anyone is going to get an allergic reaction from using a product I am a likely candidate and I didn't with this deodorant.
It has a fresh aroma, but it isn't in any way obtrusive- just fresh.
Once opened it will last for 12 months- but surely that would be taking the long lasting effect of this product waaaaaaaaaaaaay to far.
Sanex dermo extra control (micro talc)
After realising that my sure deodorant to minimise white marks wasn't up to the extraordinary hot weather I decided to seek out one that would work better in the hot weather. I plummeted for this bottle of sanex dermo extra control. As surely extra control would mean it would fight of the 30 degree Celsius heat of my classroom!
*****Sanex and its Spin Machine*******
This is an antiperspirant deodorant from the skincare product maker sanex. It is meant to keep the skin healthy and be demo active. The spin is that it should give 48hour protection, has 0% alcohol and has micro talc. The unique dermo control is meant to offer 3 things - protection for 48 hours, moisturisation to smooth and soften skin and balance to allow the skin to breathe
It is 150mls in size and white with blue writing and a blue lid. They tend to be colour coded depending on the extras you get in the deodorant as sanex offer several types of deodorants and roll ons. It has a lid which I have lost and a spray push down lid. The bottle is curved a little and easy to pick up to use.
You are supposed to spray from 15cm and allow to dry before putting tops over. It is not a white mark reducer deodorant but I find it doesn't get wet on application anyway or leave whitemarks. In fact it seems to be quite dry in its application and you feel as if you could spray quite a lot on. It seems to dry instantly and does not cause me any irritation and I have sensitive skin too. It has a sweet talc smell to it and does remind me of baby talc but slightly scented. It is the type of spray that you need to do with lots of air and ventilation as it gets up your nose and it does put me off.
****the sweat test***
Well sadly like the sure in temperature so high that have been in a classroom with 30 kids this is not a great deodorant. It is meant to be 48hours protection but I felt the need to put more on after a couple hours. Mind you I was wearing tops that restricted the underarms from breathing as I am not in Greece or Barbados or even Blackpool beach on a hot day and I can't go around in halter necks or vest tops! I guess this isn't all sanexs fault but the freaky weather and being restricted on tops I can wear at work.
I have tried this on more normal days lately when we have had monsoon season but it is still fairly humid. The smell of it when applying it still irritates me and I still don't see how it can advertise as 48hour protection as who in their right mind would only put deodorant on every two days testing out what it says!!!!! I feel it isn't as good as the sure one I bought before this or mitchum and dove which I regularly buy. In fact this is a bit of a let down and a waste of £1.50 or so. One thing though it does smell pleasant on and reminds me of sanex shower gel.
I would not buy again a deodorant spray from sanex but I actually don't mind their roll ons as they seem to work better and you don't get almost knocked out by the smell of the spray when applying it.
So out of 5 I give a 1 star and that is me being generous!!!
