“ Brand: Sanex / Deodorants / Gender: for women / Type: Roll-on / Subcategory: Deodorant / Suitable for: Body / What it does: Protects, „
I am a Sanex convert! After trying their 'Dermo Invisible' roll-on (the one with the bright pink lid), I have never so much as looked at another brand.
Browsing in Boots one day I came across a few bottles of Sanex Natur Protect, they were in the reduced section and cost around 40p (the usual price is around £1.50) - knowing how well Sanex works, I thought I would stock up. I'd never tried this particular one before but knowing the Sanex brand, I assumed they would be as just as great as the rest.
Sanex Natur Pure comes is the standard 50ml Sanex style bottle, in either green or peach. The green is for 'normal' skin, and the peach is designed for sensitive skin.
Natur Protect claims to be a more natural and highly effective Sanex deodorant. It contains the mineral Alum, which protects effectively against body odours in a natural way. I am assuming that the grey rocks that adorn the front of the bottle are Alum.
I can see that they are really pushing the 'natural' aspect of the product; not only did they call it 'Natur' and put pictures on rocks on the front of the bottle, they also chose earthy and neutral colours for the range. They also mention the word 'natural four times' when describing the product.
So, how 'natural' is it? Sanex Natur Protect contains:
PPG-15 Stearyl Ether
It's not looking so natural anymore. I am not sure of what some of the ingredients are, although most of them are what you would find in any other deodorant, so I suspect that the 'natural' angle is more of a marketing ploy based on one ingredient (Alum) than a representation of the product as a whole.
Natur Protect also claims to give 24 hour odour control. Now, I'm not a particularly sweaty person. I would say I'm pretty average in that department, I find that this product does last quite a while, although on a very hot day I don't completely trust Natur Protect to protect me and as such I do apply up to three times a day.
Lately I have read a few articles that advise to apply deodorant before bed; this is because it is more effective when your body is at a steady temperature. I have started doing this, although I always add a little more in the mornings (just to be on the safe side!). I then may apply a little more later in the day, especially if I'm out all day rushing around.
After applying, I can still feel the deodorant drying for around 10 mins; when dry, you cannot tell that it is there. It sinks in perfectly and leaves no tell tale white marks. A feint smell lingers, it is a typical deodorant smell, quite artificial but very fresh and airy.
I've found that, with Natur Protect, I wake up fresh and clean and am happy that it works; even after particularly hot nights, I still feel fresh.
After reapplying in the morning, I feel great until the afternoon (earlier, if it is particularly hot). I know that it is there, although am not as confident as I am with my usual brand.
There has been the odd occasion when I've not smelt as fresh as I could have, although this is very rare and has only happened when I'd been exercising for a while (luckily, at home!).
This may sound quite good for some brands, but it is unacceptable for me, as I know how effective my usual Sanex deodorant is, I can therefore only give Sanex Natur Protect 4 stars (if it were possible I would rate it 3.5 stars. But as it's not, and I am feeling generous, I've rounded up to four).
- What is it? -
The sanex naturprotect roll on:
*A more natural and highly effective deodorant.
*Contains the mineral alum which protects against body odours in a natural way.
*Gently cares for your skin.
*Keeps skin healthy.
*Validated by the British Skin Foundation.
*For normal skin.
*24 hour protection.
- My Experience -
The deodorant is just as the picture shows. It is stored upside down so that the roll on section is facing down, much better than others that have that area stored at the top as it ensures that all of the liquid inside is where it should be.
I've used others that are also stored upside down and they have sometimes created excess around this area which has dried up and flaked around the lid but this isn't the case with this one. Therefore a thumbs up on this aspect of the product.
Not really loyal to a specific brand, I'm not averse to trying new products and as a rule tend to get those on offer.
This 50ml roll on is currently priced in Asda at £1.74 although I got this on offer a while ago in the local Morrisons. Some of the other Sanex roll deodorants are on special offer at Asda for just £1 and in Boots at half price but the naturprotect range aren't included in these offers.
Like the packaging, this gets a thumbs up from me. As the name suggested, it's quite a natural smelling deodorant which I like as I'm not very keen on the floral, obviously feminine ones as they tend to clash with any other fragrances I may choose to wear. This has a fresh, clean smell to it.
* White marks and shaving
Thus far, I haven't experienced any white marks. I tend to wear quite a lot of black and have had annoying experiences with white marks on clothes in the past so another advantage of the product.
As for shaving, this doesn't sting my underarms even when applied immediately after shaving.
I have noticed that most of the roll ons that I have used of late take quite some time to completely dry and this is no exception. For the purposes of reviewing I actually timed the drying process and it took 4 minutes to be dry to the touch which when I'm in a rush for work seems like much longer!
It keeps me free from any unpleasant aromas on days that are relatively free of over exertion or exercise but I've also used it at times when I have been more active and it's staying power isn't so good and I've even had to reapply it to mask any very faint aromas that may be wafting my way so not great in this respect hence the 3 star rating.
~ No white marks.
~ Pleasant, clean smell when applied.
~ Doesn't sting after shaving.
~ The price when not on special offer in comparison to other deodorants / anti-perspirants.
~ Not very effective when I exercise.
~ Takes a while to dry.
Thanks for reading. Please note that this review also appears on ciao.
I have been using Sanex deodorant for the last few years, mainly sticking to the dermo range. A few months ago I was in my local Wilkinson's store, and saw a load of Sanex deodorant with 75% off, making it less than 50p. Not one to miss out on a bargain, I stocked up. It was only when I got home I realised these deodorants were from a different range to the ones I normally buy. These were a new line of Sanex deodorants, called 'Natur Protect'
Because they were so cheap, I stocked up, buying two different deodorants from the new range.
'Anti White Marks'
The packaging for the roll-on deodorant is very similar to the dermo range, which is why I did not notice the difference in the shops. The Anti White Marks version comes in a turquoise coloured container, complete with semi-transparant lid. The packaging is sort of back-to-front, with the lid been on the bottom, and the container sitting inside it.
'For Sensitive Skin'
The packaging for this deodorant is again the same as the others, with just a change of container colour. This one is a dark peach colour, and very easy to confuse with the Sensitive deodorant from the Dermo range which is similar.
Sanex claim NaturProtect is a more natural and highly effective Sanex deodorant, containing the mineral alum, which protects against body odours the natural way.
Anti whites marks also claims it is made with an anti white mark formula...obviously, whilst the Sensitive deodorant claims it gently cares for your skin.
They both claim the deodorant keeps skin healthy, a claim I do not agree with after using the products myself.
The deodorant is easy to apply using the roll on dispenser. I do prefer roll on deodorant as I feel more protected. The deodorant takes around 15-20 minutes to dry, but this is probably because I put so much on...just call me paranoid. This may seem a long time, but is is the same whatever brand of deodorant I use, so it definetley because of how much I use.
Neither deodorants have a particularly strong smell, but both smell lovely, fresh and clean. I cannot smell the product once it is applied, and have only every smelt it from the container.
Sanex claim this products keeps you dry for 24 hours. I can't say I have tested this, but it does keep me smell free during the day. I was concerned this product wouldn't be effective at controlling odor, with it been a natural product, but these claims where unnecessary.
I believe the anti-white marks claims are accurate. I normally end up with white marks all over my clothes, however carefully I put them on, but I cannot say I have had this happen when using the deodorant
Now, on to my main problem with this range. As I have mentioned, I have used Sanex dermo range for years, totally problem free. However, my skin really does not like the Natur Protect range at all. After using the product morning and night for just one day my underarm area looks a complete mess. It has made it really red, dry and itchy, and just looks terrible. I do not have particularly sensitive skin, and often change the products I use so am really disappointed by this. I have used the deodorant on a couple of occasions now, and the result has been the same each time. I have tried easy deodorant, the anti-white marks and the sensitive version, and the same thing has happen.
Because of this, I have ended up throwing the whole lot in the bin, and would not recommend it at all. I have been left with this awful itchy rash, so however good the deodorant is, and whatever the claims, it is just not worth using.
I can see why Wilko's were selling this off now!
Sanex Natur Protect Deodorant - Roll On for Normal Skin 50mls. Costs £1.79
I like trying new products and decided to give this deodorant a try as I like Sanex products and I find that they are usually very kind to my skin!
This product is widely available in most supermarkets and chemists. It comes in a roll on variety and a spray. The spray variety costs around £2.29 per pack.
Sanex Natur Protect claims to be effective protection that's kind to your skin.
Sanex Naturprotect is a more natural and highly effective new deodorant that is kind to your skin. It contains natural Alum a mineral compound straight from nature that actively works with your skin to give you highly effective protection but in a more natural way.
Sanex Naturprotect is just as effective as regular deodorants, offering highly effective and more natural protection, while keeping skin healthy.
Sanex Naturprotect offers 24-hour protection, is alcohol-free and dermatologically tested.
This deodorant is available in two variants - one for normal skin, and an extra gentle formulation for sensitive skin.
The one for normal skin is in a green coloured pack and the one for sensitive skin is in an orange coloured pack.
This product is not overly perfumed - it smells a bit like peaches. A really good thing about it is that it is alcohol free.
I have used it straight after shaving and it does not sting or cause any skin irritations. The main ingredient mineral alum effectively deodorises - so this product works really well and may be a very good alternative to other deodorants which contain alcohol which can often irritate skin.
The product dispenses via a roller ball and is not overly sticky, it is clear and has a nice texture.
Well worth a try!
Sanex Natur Protect, a deodorant with a simple but pleasant name. Sanex produce a wide range of products including shower gels, shower creams, deodorants and hand washes.
The fact that the products are manufactured under the name of Sara Lee was a bit of a surprise to me, I had always associated that name with frozen cakes and gateaux.
Sanex as a company are constantly aware that our skin needs to be treated with the greatest of care and since 2005 they have worked in conjunction with the British Skin foundation.
Sanex pride themselves that they cater for all types of skin and that they are producing good quality products to offer to their customers.
If you take a look at their website it is interesting, they give detailed explanations of different skin types and if you have a problem skin then you can actually post a question on the site for the dermatologists to answer.
I have the Sanex Natur Protect that contains mineral alum, the roll-on deodorant has a pale turquoisy blue body and a long clear plastic top.
Sanex have thought about the design and they have given the deodorant a flattened end on the cap which allows the product to stand with the roller ball facing downwards, so each and every time that you replace the deodorant after use the liquid will flow towards the roller ball ready to use again.
The plastic bottle is also well shaped and this allows you to hold it easily.
Sanex Natur Protect deodorant has been dermatologically tested and has an anti white marks formula.
The deodorant contains mineral alum which helps to protect against unwanted odour in the most natural way possible.
The list of ingredients includes perfume, I have no idea what perfume but when you lift the lid off and smell the deodorant it is gorgeous. I can only describe it as a sweet floral smell that is yummy.
The Natur Protect deodorant is a creamy formula, when you apply it to your skin you can easily spot that it is a white cream rather than a clear liquid.
Within a few seconds of landing on your skin the light layer of Sanex deodorant is completely dry, not a trace of it is left and you cannot feel anything sitting on your skin.
The same sweet smell lingers on and on and even hours later you can still pick up that soft gentle fragrance.
I like roll- on deodorants but I know that many prefer to buy a spray because they dry instantly. The Sanex roll- on dries out so quickly that you can put your clothes on almost as soon as you have applied it. If you rub the patch of skin where you have used the Sanex Natur Protect there will be no marks on your fingers, once the deodorant has dried it stays firmly in the right place and refuses to rub off onto your clothes, not a white mark in sight.
Sanex also do the Natur Protect range in aerosol cans too but they seem to work out more expensive than the roll-on type.
A 150ml Natur Protect aerosol is priced at about £1.75, I paid just under 80p for my roll-on, though it was on a special offer.
The Sanex Natur Protect roll-on deodorant is nothing short of excellent, it smells wonderful and it keeps odour at bay. The deodorant lasts well throughout the course of the day and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
I get through a lot of deodorant not because although I'm not a particularly stinky person I guess I would be nowadays If I didn't use the stuff! I work out for hours a day at the gym and although I know it's obligatory to sweat like a good un I don't go to a smelly, old fashioned gym but a rather nice one full of some rather hot men! It's bad enough I can't wear make-up without stinking to high heaven too! lol.
150ml 'spray' which is in a white and light green cylinder can with an integrated push button spray to the top of it and on that a clear plastic pull on/off cover sits. On the front of the can I'm told it is Sanex 'Natur Protect' Natural Odour Control Deodorant With Mineral Alum and that it keeps skin healthy. On the back of the can I'm told a bit about the product and given directions and cautions for use, ingredients are listed as is the size and the recycle symbol, contact details for Sara Lee (the manufacturer of the product) are listed and finally there is a bar-code on there. Nice enough quality can and it's informative enough too!
A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Can....
New Natur Protect is a more natural and highly effective Sanex deodorant. It contains the mineral Alum, which protects effectively against body odours in a natural way and lets your skin breathe. Also it gently cares for your skin.
Directions For Use....
Shake well. Hold ca upright 15cm from underarm and spray. Allow to dry before dressing.
Me Using It....
The push button sprayer is really easy and simple to use and all you do really is as directed to use this. Spray a short distance away from your freshly washed and dried under-arms and apply a good old spray of this and allow it to dry. It goes on evenly and a bit damp and dries within seconds leaving no residue at all and you able to dress.
This is a really nice to use and effective calming deodorant. It has an incredibly light and slightly sweet citrusy smell to it that I really do like. It's not all that feminine but more of a unisex type of product that is light but really pleasant in it's fragrance.
It hydrates the underarms quite a bit but in a none greasy way so it doesn't transfer off and onto clothes or anything like that and the smell hangs about for hours.
I work really hard in the gym and I sweat like a pig over my 4 hour training sessions believe me. I can cope with visible sweat but not stinking of it! This is great because not once using this have I been at all smelly but also as I get warmer the fragrance kicks in even more keeping me feeling fresh, clean and confident!
A really nice to use deodorant...this is. It really does a superb job of keeping under-arms fresh but also it has a really nice smell to it and keeps the skin feeling healthy, supple and smooth. It doesn't stop perspiration of course but it does stop you from getting smelly and it's effective till you wash it off!
I paid £2.29 for my can in Sainsburys and it's available in all good supermarket's etc, also in roll on formulations and other scents!
I bought the green aerosol version of this deodrant a few months ago and fell in love with it. I have always been drawn to deodrants and anti-persprints which use more natural ingredients then basically just clogging you up with metal. I am aware that there are still mineral metals in these deodrants but it just feels like it is better for you, although this may just be me being sucked in by a gimmick!
The deodrant usually lasts me a couple of weeks before it needs replacing which i feel is quite good. Also you don't need to worry about getting that strange white residue that some aerosol deodrants give which then flakes off. I have never had that happen from this deodrant.
In regards to pricing, it retails at around £1.95 in boots (don't forget advantage cards!), although I recently stocked up on lots when they were reduced to £1 in tesco! The cannister contains 150ml, which is around average for a deodrant in my opinion so there is no less product in the cannister then usual deodrants.
The deodrant is unscented (I can't smell anything anyway) so is gentle to the skin and I find that it lasts me all day no problem.
*This review is my own work, it is also posted on other sites*
I admit it- I bought Sanex Natur Protect deodorant when it was on a buy one get one free offer in Sainsbury's. The cheapness alone didn't attract me to the product but it certainly helped. So I paid £1.85 for two 50ml bottles.
Natur protec is a roll on deodorant, the one I bought being suitable for sensitive skin. It has a fresh smelling perfume and I think importantly it contains no alcohol.
The other reason it appealed was because it is a natural product which I prefer. It contains the mineral- alum which is a mineral which naturally protects against body odours, whilst caring for your skin.
It works, which is important, but one of the other main reasons it went on my list of products to buy again is that when you undo it- the roll on part is at the bottom, which is the perfect place for it. I get tired of somehow having to balance other roll on deodorants upside down as I can see there is plenty of product left but I am not getting it!
A good buy.
As a woman who enjoys sporting activity, I was looking for an aluminimum free deodorant rather than using an antiperspirant. As documented in other reviews the connection between aluminimum and breast cancer is something for us all to consider in a society where body odour and sweat marks are not desirable.
I bought Sanex 'natur protect' which claims to prevent white marks on your clothing and last for 24 hours. Personally I don't like sprays because of inhalation of deodorant particles but was willing to overlook the mechanics of shaking the can, holding my breath and spraying in the general area of my armpit. It feels very dry and smells clinical, so no smooth creamy roll-on or feminine smell.
As for performance I find I do sweat more than with an antiperspirant, especially when exercising, but the product is still acceptable. I would not trust this product working in an office if the ambient temperature was mid 70s and above as I think there would be sweat stains on my blouse- I would use an antiperspirant for those days.
I think the anti white marks claim is accurate as I have not seen white deposits in the armpits of t shirts and blouses (this happens a lot with the antiperspirants I have used over the years). I also think it does last 24 hours, although it wanes in power over time- I have tested this during two day hikes, when I didn't apply Sanex at the beginning of the second day. I did not have bad body odour at the end of the second day.
For general use, this product is worth it just because it has no aluminimum. If you work in an office environment and really don't want sweat stains, I could not fully recommend it- better to leave it for weekend/leisure use.
I've been aware of the controversy surrounding the use of aluminium in antiperspirant and the possible link to breast cancer. Several studies have been done on the subject but as they have produced conflicting results, no formal conclusions have been made as yet. Although it never really bothered me too much, I thought I'd give one of these aluminium free alternatives a go.
I scoured the shelves for an aluminium free deo spray and was quite surprised to find a distinct lack of options. Maybe this is because it's the aluminium in antiperspirants that stop you sweating and not many women are willing to risk sweaty pitts!!.
All the products I found were only a deodorant form so I went for the brand I know the best which was Sanex. It came in a 150ml can (I prefer a spray to a roll-on) and I chose the normal skin variety rather than the one for sensitive skin (there are only two options currently available) and cost around £1.90 but I think Boots have a half price offer on at the moment.
The main selling point of this product is that it uses natural mineral alum instead of aluminium. I know it sounds the same but on investigation there is a difference in the two compounds, one is a crystal mineral and one is a metal in the form of aluminium chloride (a substance which reacts with sweat to form a gel 'plug' in the pore). Aluminium is also classified as a neurotoxin.
The smell of this deo spray is actually quite pleasant, it's not very girly or flowery more sort of medically and grassy. It comes no where near to the nice fresh smelling alternatives out there, but to be honest I wear perfume everyday and as such hardly notice the smell at all anyway.
I've been using it regularly over this past fortnight and I've been quite impressed with the results. I'm not a very sweaty person anyway so I've noticed no real difference sweat wise. I've only felt the need to re-apply through the day on one occasion when it was a very hot day in the office and someone had left the heating on!! Even my normal antiperspirant would have struggled to cope with this extreme heat so I wasn't put off at all.
I have also noticed that I don't get the usual 'sting' when using it after shaving which is a real plus for me. I've since found out it's because potassium alum is a styptic and has antiseptic properties. The British Skin Foundation has also validated the research behind the NaturProtect deodorant range.
All in all I've been quite impressed so far, I'm just hoping it holds up to the job during those warmer summer months!!
Cost: Asda is currently selling all sanex deodorants for £1.
The roll on deodorants come in a small round bottle with a screw top lid.
Firstly let me say... i think i would of smelled better if i had of not bothered wearing deodorant at all!
Other deodorants work fine, so i am not some smelly girl or something haha!
But when we did our shopping i noticed sanex was going for £1 so i thought i would give it a go and my partner purchased the male version too. I had the sensitive one.
Well within an hour of gardening in the freezing cold outside i really was very whiffy!
But i gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried it the next day and after a day of shopping.. yes i did smell again!
I wouldn't recommend this deodorant to anyone because it just doesn't do what its supposed to do! It smells nice but that's until you put it on your body and actually move about and then you just stink!
I will invest a little more money in my deodorants from now on and avoid sanex like the plague!
~*~ Introduction ~*~
The majority of people I know have a brand of deodorant they know and love, and stick too, and for me it has always been sanex, so when I went to boots earlier this week for another can of the stuff, I spotted this on offer for 97 pence, which considering it is a sanex deodorant it is quite a bargain really.. Sanex is known for being just that little bit more natural than some of the other deodorant/antiperspirants out there - this one especially..
~*~ Packaging ~*~
Strangely enough the photo at the top has two different coloured cans and roll-ons however neither of them are the colour that I have! I have the anti-white mark can of this natur protect sanex, which is in a turquoise can with a clear lid, the aluminium can, which co-incidentally is recyclable making it a little more natural.. The can itself is not anything special, however it does have a dent in it looking like a pebble, which is similar to the radox elements deodorants, they use the pebble idea to show the natural side of things.
~*~ The Claim ~*~
Sanex suggest that this deodorant is a more natural and highly effective Sanex deodorant with an anti-white mark formula.. Which given some of the other deodorants I have tried in the past that have, rubbed onto any colour clothing, especially my work polo shirt - it's not a great look.. So an anti-white mark formula is a great idea.. Especially as it protects against body odours, so we don't go around smelling nasty, when this deodorant apparently protects against it..
~*~ Does It Work? ~*~
Well I'm not all that sure to be honest, the smell on its own is not all that appealing, so getting a whiff of this people wouldn't automatically guess you were wearing something that was meant to smell strong odours.. The smell and the deodorant in general is meant to be natural, I think natural is a very appropriate word, I'm sure the smell is meant to be a more natural smell, but I can assure you, it doesn't cover up body odour all that well.. If you are someone that sweats very little, and want that little bit of extra scent then maybe this is for you, but if you are a more active, and sweat more then, I do not suggest this.. I am not one to usually worry about any nasty smells, because I know the usual can I use is completely up to scratch, but the past few days I have been using this it has made me worry a little every time I am around anyone just in case I do smell..
The anti-white mark technology does work, that's maybe the only thing that does, first time I used this, I popped on a black top and not one white smudge on it at all, not like I have had with Sure and Dove deodorant, especially as they tend to powder and flake off underarms when they are sprayed on.. Thank fully the anti-white mark idea works else, going to work in a shirt with white marks could have been slightly unsightly..
The only time I would recommend this to anyone is if you already use an anti-perspirant, as it is only a deodorant.. An anti-perspirant that doesn't have a very strong smell to it and you want a natural scent to go with it.. Otherwise if you use this deodorant have a tonne of body spray with you..
If you want a sanex anti-perspirant, that keeps odours at bay and no white marks try the Dermo invisible in the purple and white can.. Much more worth your money!
There seem to be alot of mixed opinions about the Sanex natur protect deodorants. However, I use both the roll on and the spray and I love them. I think the key issue with these however, and maybe something many people don't realise when they buy them is that these are deodorants NOT anti-perspirants..... so they won't stop you sweating, but they will (hopefully) stop the associated smell.
Well I first bought these because of the fact they are made from more natural ingredients... specifically, they use the natural mineral alum in place of the usual aluminium found in deodorants. Now you may or may not be aware of the controversy surrounding the use of aluminium in deodorants - I believe it is now considered a harmful neurotoxin and is closely linked to Alzheimers and behavioural disorders (but I am no scientist, this has come from wiki and some science websites) and there's no knowing what's true and what's just scaremongering. There was also a study published in the Daily Mail which identified the presence of aluminium in cancerous breast tissue tumours, but which was deemed inconclusive due to the fact it only looked at a very small sample of breast cancer patients. Such assertions weren't going to stop me using deodorants and turn me into a sweaty betty, but when I heard that Sanex has produced a more natural deodorant, using natural alum instead of aluminium I thought it was worth a try. Honestly, I wasn't expecting to be impressed but it turned out to be pleasantly surprising.
As I said, this is just a deodorant, so it's not designed to stop you sweating. However, I don't know if I am just weird but I find I actually sweat less using this deodorant, and even after a run I feel and smell fresh. It also smells great, I can't really describe the smell but it's really just like a clean, fresh smell, as though you have just showered with a nicely scented shower gel.
I use both the spray and the roll-on, depending in how much of a rush I am in. Generally I am a roll-on girl as I have found other sprays ineffective. However, this spray works just as well as the roll-on, with the advantage that you don't have to wait for it to dry, I just keep using the roll-on as well as I am a creature of habit, and besides, it seems a little thinner than other brands so doesn't take very long to dry! Also it is one of those upside down roll-ons so the ball doesn't dry out which is nice.
Price wise it's no cheaper nor more expensive than other leading brands so it's the kind of thing that you can try without worrying that you're wasting too much money on something you might not like.
Another great thing I have noticed is that this deodorant doesn't sting after shaving, furthermore, it doesn't even sting after epilating which I found miraculous. And what's more, no white marks on your clothes! I will definitely be sticking with these deodorants. The fact that it MAY be a healthier or safer alternative to other deodorants is a bonus, but you don't feel like you have compromised in other areas for this. They are just effective deodorants, but maybe not ideal if you sweat lots and lots and lots as they are not designed to stop this.
Statistics show (from research carried out by Sanex) that 5 million people in the UK - that's a staggering 12% - do not use a deodorant and research has revealed that this is driven by a number of reasons: from those consumers who feel they just don't need to use a deodorant, to those who would rather use a product that they feel is more natural on their skin.
According to Dr Emma Edmonds, a Consultant Dermatologist working on behalf of the British Skin Foundation there are ways of helping to control this body odour, naturally. Dr. Emma Edmond's three top tips include:
-Keeping your skin clean by regularly washing to help control the bacteria and therefore odour
-Wearing natural fibres, like cotton, as they allow the skin to breathe and loose clothing will also help keep you cool
-Using a deodorant, which serves to counter the body odour that is associated with sweating and can include a perfume
Dr Edmond's recommends Sanex' Naturoprotect. According to Edmonds, Naturprotect is a more natural, yet highly effective deodorant that is kind to the skin. It contains alum - a natural mineral compound - that actively works with the skin to counteract bacteria and protect against body odours, whilst letting the skin breathe.
Sanex claim that Naturprotect is just as effective as regular deodorants offering highly effective and more natural protection, while keeping skin healthy. It states that it offers 24-hour protection, is alcohol-free and dermatologically tested. Sanex state that the research behind Naturprotect has been validated by the British Skin Foundation.
The product is available in two variants - one for normal skin and an extra gentle formulation for sensitive. The product I tested was the roll on variant for sensitive skin.
After reading about this 'new' deodrant I was delighted to see it on offer in the supermarket and promptly bought 4 bottles of it! This was a mistake....
My experience with this product leads me to believe that one might as well bother not wearing it at all!
I applied the roll on as directed after showering in the morning. It rolled on easily and soon dried. No problems there. However, less than three hours after applying the deodrant I raised my arm to do something at work and there was one horrible 'whiff'! A whiff I have not personally smelled on myself since my teenage years, many years ago. I did not think much of it at the time and continued to use the roll on. The same thing happened day after day. In fact a couple of times I began to doubt whether I had actually forgotten to put it on!
I hadn't forgotten at all. This product in my opinion is absolutely useless... I may as well have not have bothered. Needless to say I won't be buying this again and I do not recommend it to anyone.
By the way, does anyone want 3 bottles of it?
The recommended selling price for the Roll-on is £1.79 for 50ml - you can have the three for £1!
For the past ten years or so I have always used roll on deodorants and these have worked perfectly well for me. Until I got pregnant!! Now im not sure why this happened, probably the additional hormones flying around my body, but I started to get a bit sweatier than usual and found that my usual roll on deodorant simply wasn't good enough to last all day!!
I then decided to try a spray deodorant to see if that would help me at all. I first saw Sanex Natur protect about 6 weeks ago in Sainsburys; it was a brand new deodorant on the market and was on special offer, I bought a 150ml aerosol can for £1.75.
The can itself is white in colour and has a peach/pink coloured spray top, with a clear lid covering the spray. It has the Sanex logo on the top of the can and advises further down that it is a natural odour control deodorant for sensitive skin. On the back it states that the natur protect is more natural and highly effective than normal Sanex deodorants. It contains a mineral called Alum, which effectively protects against body odours in a natural way and allows your skin to breathe, it also states it gently cares for your skin.
The instructions are pretty straight forward as far as spray on deodorants go!!! Shake well, hold about 15cm from underarm and spray, it says you should let it dry before getting dressed.
The deodorant has a very pleasant smell, which can only be described as a soft floral, perfumed scent. I know that is a useless description, but I am rubbish at describing smells, but trust me it smells very nice!!! I have also found that I can smell it throughout the day, so it doesn't fade off very quickly either.
I was always put off from using spray on deodorants ion the past as any that I had used had left horrible white marks on any of the clothes I wore, no matter how long I left it to dry. I am very pleased to say that this deodorant doesn't leave any marks on your clothes whatsoever.
I am very, very pleased with this deodorant and am pleased that it lasts all day and I have never had to re-apply it, as it has kept me smelling fresh all day. I also like the fact that it smells like a perfume so when I am not going anywhere special I now tend not to wear any perfume in addition to the deodorant. When I first bought it I thought that it was quite expensive, as my usual roll on only cost about 99p, but I am pleased to say that the can I am currently using has so far lasted me for four weeks, so it definitely goes a long, long way. I would highly recommend this product.
