“ Brand: Soap & Glory / spray / Type: Body Spray / Subcategory: Soap / Suitable for: Body „
I tend to receive a Soap and Glory gift sets for nearly every Christmas and birthday.
Glam-A-Lot is one of Soap and Glory’s body sprays which I received in a gift set a while ago.
~ Packaging ~
It comes in a tall thin bottle which is a pearlescent purple colour.
~ Price ~
The bottle contains 100ml of body spray and normally costs £4.00.
It is currently not available on Boots’ website individually, but you can buy it in a gift set along with another two of their body sprays for £9.50.
I’m not sure if they’re trying to phase this one out as Soap and Glory seem to have quite a few different body sprays available.
~ In Use ~
The body spray is released in a fine mist.
It has quite a strong scent. The bottle does not suggest what it is supposed to smell like, but to me it has quite a harsh scent. It smells like tea. For some reason it reminds me of holidays abroad.
It is nice enough, but I don’t think it is anything too special and I prefer the scent of their original line which is a sweet, candyfloss type scent.
The scent is different to the usual fruity-floral scent I have come to expect from body sprays and it is a nice change now and again, but then again I think other companies such as FCUK and Ted Baker have also been coming out with quite unique body sprays that aren’t necessarily universally appealing.
The spray feels cool when sprayed onto your skin and it is quite refreshing, but the scent is quite dark and harsh so I wouldn’t recommend spraying too much of this as I think it can get a bit overpowering. 2-3 sprays is enough for me.
The bottle looks very secure and the top does not screw off, but in the past when I carried one of these bottles around in my bag with me it leaked in my bag so this is not one I like to carry with me in my handbag. I imagine if it did leak the scent would be quite intense.
I think this product is alright, but to me it is nothing too special and I would prefer to use a body spray with a lighter, more refreshing scent as this one can be quite overpowering.
My bottle has lasted me for a long time because it isn’t a scent I fancy using all of the time and you don’t need to use much of it at once.
I would say the scent sticks around for about three hours before wearing off, which is quite good for a body spray.
I think the body spray would appeal to more mature women as well as younger women. I think the scent is quite mature.
I don’t think I would buy this body spray for myself again, but it is a nice enough product to use.
Sexy, warm and racy!
I really like Soap and Glory products, but do find they tend to be a bit on the pricey side. I actually received this as part of a giftset a while back but hadn't used it for ages, and have recently dug it out again.
You can buy this in Boots for £6.50, although the Soap and Glory range is currently part of a three for two offer. It is described as a "super sexy, warm, rich, racy and veritably voluptuous fragrant body spray".
As with all Soap and Glory products, the packaging is cute, quirky, a bit retro and pleasantly girlie! The bottle is a nice dark pink shade, and I do like how it looks. It has a pump action spray making it really easy to squirt on, and the spray comes out in a nice fine mist.
I would describe the scent of this as Soap and Glory's signature scent - and those of you who are familiar with S&G products The Righteous Butter or Clean On Me will know just what I mean! It is a gorgeous floral fragrance, yet musky too which stops it being too sweet. It's a grown-up, sexy fragrance that I really love and I think it would appeal to a lot of people.
Not a lingerer
Unfortunately, though, this gorgeous fragrance doesn't linger! I find the scent of this wears off really quickly and within a few hours I can't smell this on me at all. This is really disappointing as it is such a lovely smell that I want it to stay on me all day! But sadly this is one that definitely needs frequent reapplication - and this of course means a bottle probably won't last you that long.
In summary ...
I adore the smell of this spray but the fact the fragrance has no staying power is really disappointing. I won't be buying this one again.
Soap & glory in my opinion is becoming more and more a massive popular brand these days. I think it helps that every year they bring out a signature offer which is an incredible buy; this not only grabs the attention of already S & G fans, but also newbies see the great deal, buy into the offer and end up trying a whole host of products, which could lead them to then being a fan. Pretty neat marketing tool if you ask me. Soap & Glory is available from Boots, and they have an awesome website which is brill for reviews, expert advice and just further information about the range of products they offer.
This product comes in a variety of prices, due to the fact there is various way to get hold of this product. The RRP on their website states £6.50 for 250ml, true to its word on the Boots website the same size is £6.50. There is however another nifty way of purchasing this and that's by the trio set of mixed spays; you get 3 100ml bottles for £8.50. The good thing with Soap & Glory products is that there often always on offer too; so if you choose your time wisely when to stock up on the brand you can often get 3 for 2. Personally I feel it's a little over priced to be purchased on its own, as part of a gift set it good, but I wouldn't re-purchase solely on it's own.
This product is called Glam-A-Lot and isn't the original scent, personally I like this one better. The scent is a deep strong scent that impacts you upon spraying. Considering it's a body spray I feel as though it really has a perfume feel to it, if you didn't know I predict people would assume it was a perfume. It's described as "A super sexy, warm, rich, racy, and veritably voluptuous fragrant body spray with fresh flowers layered on a woody, vanilla musk base" Since reading the description I definitely agree with it. It does have a sexy vibe to it, and I can now pin point the vanilla; but with the woody and musky tones adding to the darkness I feel. Personally I can't smell the flowers, but all other aspects to the description seem accurate.
Who is it for
Anyone, it's a body spray at the end of the day, so it's not going to last all day. Personally I'd prefer a perfume for day to day basis, however since digging this back out from my room, I think I may be keeping this in the car as an emergency spray, or I'll be throwing it in my gym bag. Its scent is impactful and strong as I said, but I do feel it wouldn't be great for kids. This is just my opinion but as the description says it's a 'sexy' scent and for a body spray it is quite. I think younger girls would be better suited to the original scent as opposed to this more intense one.
* Last around 3 hours
* A good transition between body spray and perfume
* Great for a freshen up before or after the gym*
* Paraben free
* A little pricey I feel but great as part of a gift set
I'm glad I have re-discovered this, it's something I will definitely be using up, I'm unsure if I would re-purchase this. (I don't buy a lot of body sprays in general) however if it was to come in a gift set, I would be more considerate of it rather than disregarding it straight away.
For my birthday I received quite a few soap and glory goodies as it is well known by my family and friends that I love many products in the range. One of the items I received was a 100ml bottle of the glam-a-lot body spray and this is my review of the product.
The name glam-a-lot just makes me smile from the onset and the way that soap and glory cleverly play with words when naming their products is one of the reasons why I like the brand. The body spray is available for purchase in two sizes these being 100ml and 250ml and these cost £3.00 and £6.50 respectively.
The product comes in a plastic bottle which is thinner at the neck than the bottom and is easy to hold as a result. The bottle is a purpley pink colour and unfortunately isn't see through. I do like to know when I am running out of a product but to be fair I can shake this bottle to roughly gauge how much is left in there.
On the back of the bottle there is a label which says "there are times when you need a little glam and times you need to glam-a-lot. We recommend deploying this during the latter." It is a fun way of telling us when to use the product I think and just another way of showing the fun side of soap and glory the brand. I like to use the body spray in a morning or before I am going to go out somewhere and will spray it on to my skin and sometimes a little on to my clothes too. I find it best to let the spray settle on my skin naturally as opposed to rubbing it in as the scent seems stronger like this. It is nice that the scent will take me by surprise sometimes as it settles and then suddenly will reappear if I move a certain way or something because it really is a lovely scent.
The scent of the product is described as flowers layered on a woody vanilla mist base. I have to say that the vanilla is the main scent I pick up in this body spray as it is just so sweet. I do feel as though when I have used this product on my skin that I smell good enough to eat though perhaps that is just me! I also find when I use this body spray that I do not need to use a separate perfume as well as the scent certainly holds its own and is noticeable for a good few hours after application as well.
The spray pump is easily pressed with just the one finger for easy application and each pump sprays out quite a large fine mist of the product. I don't use this every day but my bottle is pretty much run out now. I think I would be tempted to purchase the 250ml bottle when I replace this one as it will last longer though the larger bottle is obviously much less convenient for carrying around in a bag.
I certainly recommend this product if you are looking for a sweet smelling body spray and whilst I appreciate £6.50 isn't cheap for a product such as this you can in fact use it instead of a perfume so could make a saving in that way. Soap and glory is regularly on offer as well in Boots so a better price can be had.
Thank you for reading my review!
I first came across Soap and glory when my Daughter was given a set as a gift a few Christmases ago by a friend. She loved these products immediately and began to constantly rave about them. Knowing I was curious as to what the fuss was about she kindly allowed me to try them out (I was restricted to how much I was allowed to use though). Needless to say I liked what I tried, but, unfortunately I never got around to buying any myself. So, much to my appreciation, for Mothers Day this year I was given this body spray and a few other Soap and Glory products by my Daughter and Son.
The body spray comes in a 50's retro style box which I have now thrown away so I cannot go into a lot of detail about that. The bottle itself is of a slightly pearlized Brown plastic with a retro style label in keeping with the brand. Glam-A-Lot is described on the label as a 'soft and sexy fragrant body spray' The blurb on the reverse label states 'There are times when you need a little glam, and times you need to Glam-a-lot. We recommend deploying this during the latter.' 'Mist opportunity. It's Rich. Voluptuous. Sensual. It's got sex appeal (use it and ooze it)'
The spray deploys a fine mist to the skin and the fragrance is immediately apparent. It is quite a strong fragrance for a body spray but it's so nice it doesn't really matter. To me it initially has a slight floral smell but soon settles into a Musky aroma with a slight touch of vanilla developing later. This really is a nice body spray and the fragrance lasts for hours and hours. In fact, if I use this after showering in the early evening it can still be smelt the next morning. Amazing.
As I did not buy this myself I cannot confirm the actual price paid or where it was purchased. However Boots stock this range. Glam-A-Lot comes in a 250ml bottle and the normal price at boots is £6.38 according to their website but there is currently a 3 for 2 offer. This may seem quite expensive for a body spray but in my opinion it is worth every penny for such a long wearing spray. If it is something you would use but not on a daily basis then it is good for 24 months after opening.
I love this body spray. It smells absolutely lovely which always makes me feel good. It's long wearing and has a long shelf life if only used occasionally.
The colour of the bottle for this product looks like one of those brown sauce bottles in a greasy spoon cafe. However despite the rather naff colour of the bottle the contents are far removed from the odours that you find in a greasy spoon.
Glam a Lot Fragrant Body Spray is a super body spray with a fresh, vital fragrance that is quite musky and leaves my body smelling wonderful. There is a strong vanilla essence to this body spray and also a strong floral bouquet as well. As well as a great smell I'm also impressed with how long this body spray lasts, it really does have excellent staying power. Also to get great results you do not need to douse your body in spray as it is so strong so build it up slowly because if you go crazy and spray too much you will be enveloped in a cloying cloud whereas if you use it sparingly the effect will be ideal.
I use this as both a daytime spray but have also used it on a night out and this is another thing that I like about it as it is so versatile. The other great thing about this body spray is the price as you can get a 250ml bottle for £6.38 and it is great value at that price.
Anyone that knows me knows that I am a sucker for Soap and Glory products, and secondly that I'm a sucker for anything that smells nice. So as you can probably imagine my bathroom and my room are filled with smellies - from perfume and body spray to probably every scent shower gel I can get my hands on, friends now know the best way to get round me is to buy me a bottle of something nice smelling, have forgiven a lot of wrong doings for a bottle of this stuff I tell you!
~*~ What Is Soap & Glory? ~*~
Been to Boots recently? Been near the fancy pants moisturisers? It's that big pink section that slaps you in the face with a gorgeous girly scent, it's very much a girly section with very girly products... Soap and Glory, is a fairly girly brand that has only been around for the past few years in Boots, Asos and Harvey Nichols - having a quick look at the brand site, it doesn't actually say how long the brand has been going for but it is fairly well established so I'd give it a good few years! The lady that started the brand, apparently, figured that ladies wanted nice inexpensive toiletries, that would be fabulous on skin - so she decided she would take her fifteen years of cosmetic formulating experience and make some very pink products.... And I thank Marcia for that, because it means my bathroom looks and smells beautiful!
~*~ What Is Glam-A-Lot, and how do I Spot It? ~*~
Glam-A-Lot is a fragrant body spray in the words of S&G, an apparently sexy, warm, rich, racy and veritable voluptuous body spray at that. It is apparently made with fresh flowers (which ones it doesn't specify!) layered on a woody, vanilla musk base. It is a body spray that in my humble opinion every woman should own because it is a beautiful scent and has a very classical look to the bottle and box. The box is silver on the front with a lady in a nightie on the front, the S&G logo, the other sides have information about S&G and about the product, how long it will be good for and how big the bottle inside is and a barcode amongst other things... It is a very typical S&G box!
~*~ Will I Feel Glam-A-Lot With This? ~*~
Well I certainly do every time I spray it, I initially used it as a compliment to my perfume - as it worked well with all three of mine; Paul Smith Extreme, The Body Shop's Love ETC and Next Diamonds, to give it a bit of a boost since I don't carry my perfumes out with me. Until I noticed that it had staying power way out of the range of any of my perfumes, in which time it became a predominant spray as I walked out of the door in the morning. How I discovered this scent really was through a Christmas present, and this one bottle had been sat in the box and I didn't try it until July, so the poor thing was a bit neglected - but before a night out I fancied a different scent and spritzed this in the air and immediately fell in love with the smell!
As a daytime smell, you only want a small amount on your body because as I said it is quite a predominant scent that will last you all day, so spray on the parts that people are going to come closest to. During the day for work mine ends up on my wrists, neck and chest area - which considering I work with children means nothing because they climb everywhere on you! So during the day you can be sparing because it does have the staying power. In the evening however go for it, I normally dislike women that have excessive perfume or spray on, and make a comment of what did you do take a bath in the stuff, but with this on an evening I will spray it everywhere. Arms, chest, neck, ends up getting sprayed on my hair as well just for that nice all over smell. Even through a full night out, even if it is night clubs as well as pubs I can still smell quite strongly of this come 2am. So this body spray definitely has the staying power you need.
The fact that the scent is quite sweet, will probably be the first thing you smell and think it's really too overpowering but give it five minutes and it becomes a more subtle aroma that someone catches when you walk past them instead of slapping them in the face. So if you want a smell that has the staying power of an expensive perfume, that has a potent scent that is very easy on the nose, that at the same time is a very feminine scent - this is something you might be interested in. I haven't yet found a S&G fan that didn't like the smell of this, even my mum who isn't a fan loves the smell, and always tries to steal my bottle! The bottles come in multi packs in the gift boxes, and on their own boxed up; the multi pack bottles are 100ml and the bigger bottle you can buy on its own is 250ml, and looks huge in comparison to the smaller bottle. I've just finished my small bottle of this smelly and that lasted me about a month give or take a few days. So the big bottle in theory should last about two months maybe two and a half, which is quite good value really, since to get the same affect I can go through one bottle of body spray a week!
~*~ Price and Availability ~*~
This is available in various places as I mentioned earlier in my review but I buy all my S&G products from Boots, this is currently £6.38 or if you want to buy two fragrances and a moisturiser in a set that is £8.34... So whichever way you fancy doing it get yourself some of this lovely smell!
My lovely boyfriend knows how much I adore Soap & Glory products and so I was really pleased the other day when he came armed with a load of Soap & Glory products for me the other week as a gift. I was delighted cos not only does it mean he listens to my likes and dislikes but that he also splashed his cash on me whilst we were over 300 miles apart! AW!
The bottle comes in a light yellow and green long box with an opening to the top of it and a 50's style photograph to three sides of it of a woman and I'm told what it is and who it is by and various other snippets of information. It looks very retro indeed of course and then on the back of the box ingredients and cautions are listed along with contact details for Soap & Glory. The bottle inside that box is a mink brown sort of colour and 250ml in size and has a clear push button sprayer to the top of it and a clear plastic lid that simply pushes on and and off that. On the front of the bottle I am again told that it is Soap & Glory 'Glam-A-Lot' and the size is stated. On the back of the bottle again ingredients are listed, I'm told to use this spray up within 24 months of opening it and contact details for Soap & Glory are given. Lovely looking packaging this is as usual from Soap & Glory, quirky and unique in its own right!
The Spray Itself:
Well this is actually gorgeous, unique and well blended and so far from within the Soap & Glory body spray range this is certainly and by far my favourite!
It sprays out wet, dries in seconds and you can't feel any residue on the skin at all. The fragrance of this is really rich and womanly with a blend of fresh, sweet flowers with a touch of musk to it to ground it and a waft of vanilla which floats over it. It simply is really rich and very pungent and I like the sweetness that really does round this off beautifully and gives it a bit of a girly feel.
Once on the skin it doesn't agitate it and it stays fragrant all day long and people comment on this fragrance when I wear it all the time and because I love it so much and feel that it is so strong I would be more than happy to use this in place of perfume....particulary on hot summer nights!
Unique, sophisticated and really long lasting I'm off to buy another bottle of this before I run out!
Available in Boots and Harvey Nichols costing £6.00 a bottle.

"Glam A-LOT" body spray by Soap & Glory
I do love the Soap & glory range of toiletry products and this was reduced the other day when I was in Boots. A 250ml bottle of this spray costs £6 from Boots normally and it was reduced to £4 which I thought was pretty good value. I had really liked the previous spray I bought 'Mist You Madly' and thought I'd try this "Glam A Lot' for a change.
The body spray comes in a box with the usual Soap & Glory pink colouring on two sides of the box and with the other box sides a pale yellow .The 50s retro style design has a young girl in a white long frilly dress/nightie ( hard to tell!) in black and white below the black writing " There are times you need a little glam and then there are times you need to Glam A-LOT" label then in cursive writing "Super, sexy, warm, rich, racy and veritably voluptuous FRAGRANT BODY SPRAY".
On another pink side there is a round label with the usual is a witty play on words, " Mist opportunity. It's rich. Voluptuous. Sensual. It's got sex appeal (Use it and Ooze it.). I think the cardboard box is slightly unnecessary but I suppose it adds to the quality look of the product and can of course be recycled very easily.
The bottles inside is a sleek pearlescent mushroom pink plastic and has a slightly retro or kitsch look to it and the 50's style retro labelling once again in evidence. It is exactly like the one pictured above with a spray pump, not an aerosol but I like that as I am not a big fan of aerosols anyway. If you hold it up to the light it is translucent so that you can see how much you have left which I find useful because I know exactly how much is left.
I bought the previous bottle to take on holiday with me as a light fragrance to wear everyday when it was hot so the fact that it was a spray pump was great as I got a cooling each time I sprayed as well as a pleasant smell. It lasted the whole three nearly four weeks we were away and I used it daily and often to cool and freshen myself as it was extremely hot at times. It was perfect as the sent was quite light and refreshing. No excuse for buying this one except it was reduced and hopefully the summer months will be nice and warm here.
The scent of the product is described on the box as Fresh flowers layered on a woody, vanilla, musk base'. This is not unlike the 'Mist you Madly' which also had the deeper notes of vanilla and musk. This gives a light floral fragrance with slightly sweet and creamy vanilla and a musky undertone which come through fairly strongly after a while but as I love musky notes I find this very pleasing. I find that the scent of the spray lingers for quite some time which I like and although it is quite wet I haven't found it has marked any of my clothes.
"Glam A-LOT" is a body spray not a deodorant and I tend to use it as a delicate refreshing perfume during these summer months and when travelling to places with hot weather as I don't like heavy perfumes in hot weather. I love the Soap & Glory fresh clean smell and this is what you get whenever you have a quick squirt at any time in the day. I love smelling fresh and don't think hot weather is an excuse for a lack of personal so a quick squirt to every now and then makes me smell more appealing.
This is not a hugely different scent from the 'Mist you Madly' but I do think it is a bit deeper , the vanillary sweetness is quite strong and lasts a good long time on my skin. I do like to be able to sniff my arm and smell the scent I have on. This is a great summer smell, a little stronger and heavier than their other body spray but not like a perfume. The fact that it is a liquid spray means that it is really refreshing when it is hot - let's hope I need a lot of this spray this summer.
