Sure, part of the Unilever group, produce a range of anti-perspirant. The Crystal range claims to be little black dress proof – “whatever your look, Sure Crystal provides complete protection. For incredible white mark protection, simply apply your chosen scent from the clever Crystal range, pull on that little black dress or fitted t-shirt, and voilà. No fuss.”
It comes in a number of varieties – compressed spray (75 ml and 125 ml), regular spray (150 ml and 250 ml), roll-on and stick, and fragrances –clear aqua, clear pure and diamond.
I am reviewing the 250 ml can of clear aqua spray. Boots normally sell this for £3.39 but you can currently get two cans for £4.
~~What does it all mean?~~
Crystal acts as a deodorant protecting against order and anti-persiprant protecting against wetness ie sweat. Typically when the active ingredients in an anti-perspirant bond with sweat, you may notice a white stain appear on clothes. Crystal claims to have solved this problem.
~~Does it deliver?~~
In short, yes. I find this product offers great protection and I’ve never had a problem with underarm staining when using the spray.
The 250 ml can is large – it’s 23.5 cm in height which just fits on my bathroom shelf. I do like the smaller compressed cans for travelling but for use at home, I like this can. It feels solid and as it narrows in the middle, it is easy to grip.
There’s nothing unusual in how you use this product. Give it a good shake and holding the can about 15 centimetres away from the underarm, give a liberal spray. Unlike other products, I’ve never had any trouble with the spray mechanism.
The skin feels immediately dry after application. I can put on my clothes immediately. When I’ve forgotten to apply, I’ve managed to get the can under my blouse or jumper and given my underarms a quick squirt of spray without problem.
Crystal promises 48 hr protection and although I’ve never tested this, I do feel confident that it will offer me protection from wetness and odour all day.

Yes, I’ve found this to be highly effective. I have no hesitation in giving it 5 out of 5.
I have been using this deodorant for quite a few years now and I still love it! I have always stuggled with perspiration and finding a deodorant that controlled it was tough but this one has really helped to combat it.
The product claims that it has no white marks, however always when I start a new bottle there is always a little bit of white powder stuff that gets onto my underarms. But this goes when I carry on using the bottle and it is absolutely fine.
The scent itself is quite neutral and fresh which is nice if you want to put a scent on over the top and you always feel clean after applying.
I find that a bottle lasts me around 2-3 weeks so cost wise it is more expensive than a roll on, but spray deodorants are the only ones that work for me.
Overall, I haven't found a better deodorant on the market! If anyone can recommend any others to try let me know!
As a previous user of Sure branded deodorants i was aware as with many other brand deodorants of the white marks left behind on black clothing, which isn't attractive at any time. When i saw this product advertised i was eager to try it. I wanted to find out if it was going to be just another gimmick product, or does it actually do what it says on the tin.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the claim that it leaves no visible white marks was true, a discovery i was very pleased with. There were no white marks visible on my black vests i wore for several hours after applying the deodorant. The brand also claim it provides you with long lasting protection; again i felt that it gave me adequate protection for the length of time i was expecting it to (throughout the work day) and i didn't feel sweaty, or sticky several hours later.
The smell of the deodorant isn't over-powering. When sprayed it is a fresh, clean smell, that does wear off after a couple of hours but that doesn't appear to have an effect on the protection from the deodorant itself.
The deodorant is very easy to use. After the initial press to release the button, further applications are much simpler. The shape of the can i had was kind of wavy and it seemed to fit into your hand easily and allowed you to grip it better. The spray hole itself appears to be further away from the push button unlike some other brands, and because of this you don't get any on your fingertips as i have done previously.
Overall, i was very pleased with this deodorant and have repurchased repeatedly. It isn't too costly as it is usually found on offer within supermarkets and other smaller stores and so is also easy to find for replacements.
I have always rated Sure deodorants as one of the best deodorants on the market, but I have also found them a little more expensive than some.
Why I wanted this product...
To be honest I had ran out of deodorants and I was shopping and just picked it up. It was on sale for £1 which I know is good for Sure deodorants.
When I bought this, it was in a different shape than the one pictured above, it's in a different shape that fits into your hand better and to be honest looks more feminine. It is a silver tin, with a lace effect on the from, the Sure tick and what the deodorant does. The button you press is much better the hole where is comes out of is out of the way of the button so you won't give yourself a burn! You don't really push the button in, you have to press hard the first time and when you push you have to push the button up as well.
What its supposed to do...
The deodorant is a anti perspirant that will keep you fresh for up to 48 hours.
It is dermatoligically tested too.
Long lasting protection.
I found the spray did not leave any white marks on my clothing, which is a great bonus. Also it has a flowey scent to it which is quite powdery. It is not an overpowering smell it's very subtle. I would say that the smell is very fresh. I applied this on the morning around 9 o clock and I found it kept me fresh all day, I did not sweat and it did not make me feel sticky and yucky. The scent does wear off but the protection certainly doesn't. I wouldn't say it keeps you fresh for 48 hours, although I did not get the chance to test it as I get a shower every night. Also, with some other deodorants I find that the more you sweat, the more you can smell a tinge of your sweat, but with this one I found the more you sweat, the more protection it gives you.
Sizes.... You can buy the tins in 150ml and 200ml forms
I know you can buy this at supermarkets and online..
I bought mine on sale in Boyes for £1.30 but it does range anything up to £2.00 for a 150ml tin.
No white marks.
Beautiful feminine scent.
Great protection all day.
I love the tin, it looks feminine.
I think the price puts me off a bit.
Would I recommend..
Yes I would
I work in an office and often have to wear a suit for work, and also often wear black, and therefore I like to be able to ensure that I'm not going to get absolutely covered in white powdery deodorant residue over my clothes before I've even left the house.
This is the reason I bought Sure Crystal Clear Aqua Anti-Perspirant, because it promises to leave no white marks on clothes. I got mine on offer in Sainsbury's when it was only £1 for the can, it's usually around £1.69 which is still a reasonable price.
The can is a silver one with a sort of blue lace effect to it and the Sure logo and Crystal Clear name displayed prominently on the side. It has a well shaped spray button and nozzle meaning that it gives a strong yet fine mist which doesn't drip or freeze your finger (which I've had with other deodorants, and not just cheap ones, brand names, too).
There is no real scent to the deodorant other than a very fresh clean smell which is very nice on it's own or as a complimenting clean smell under your usual body spray or perfume. I find that the claims that Sure Crystal Clear Aqua Anti-Perspirant does not cause white marks to be very accurate; it has never caused me any problems like other deodorants have with frantically trying to wipe off lines of deodorant off my clothes!
In terms of longevity for the anti-deodorant I find that when I apply Sure Crystal Clear Aqua Anti-Perspirant at 7am I still feel fresh and not sweaty under the arms when I get home from work around 6pm. Overall in terms of price, looks, scent, spray and longevity I would highly recommend it and have since purchased a second tin. I tend to find a product I like and stick to it and Sure Crystal Clear Aqua Anti-Perspirant has certainly made the list. It's a great deodorant which, as they say, does exactly what it says on the tin.
I am not really fussy on deodorants as long as they work, I have the ones I really like which I pick up when on offers but if I run out I just pick the best priced one that smells nice. This particular deodorant I ended up with on the Tesco double the difference fiasco last year so it didn't actually cost me anything but in turn also wasn't one I had actually picked for the smell of it.
The deodorant is available in 2 different sizes, there is a 150ml tin which costs £2 and a 250ml tin which costs £3, as you can see the larger tin is only marginally better value. You can buy the deodorant in chemists and supermarkets and very rarely you find the smaller tins in discount style stores.
The deodorant comes in a silver tin with a press down top where the deodorant is dispensed from but no lid covering it. The tin has the name of the company and the name of the product on it with a little lace piece drawing across the tin and a bit of blue for colour. The tin isn't really very attractive in my opinion and isn't one that is likely to jump out at you from the supermarket shelves.
It is claimed on the tin that the deodorant will provide 48 hours protection and has incredible white mark protection, the white marks I do agree with as I have never had any white marks with this product however the 48 hours I don't agree with and in all honesty I don't think there is a single deodorant on the market that keeps you fresh for 48 hours.
The deodorant smells ok, it is a slightly floral scent but smells powdery and light, it reminds me of flowery smelling talcum powder, the smell isn't very strong and there is nothing wrong with it but it is also not a particularily great smell. I find that the product does leave me feeling fresh however with this one I did reapply through the day although I think this is maybe more because I could no longer smell the product rather than feeling I was getting sweaty.
I would say this is an average product and there are much better on the market that I would prefer to spend my money on. The deodorant does leave you feeling fresh but not for long enough for my liking and the smell simply isn't strong enough so only 3 stars from me.
A dull necessity
Deodorant is one of those products that is essential for all of us (I hope!) to use, but isn't the most exciting thing to purchase. As much as I like my beauty products, even I can't get excited about what deodorant to buy!
I am very fickle when it comes to buying products and I constantly chop and change and like to try something new. However there are one or two things that I literally never stray from, and this product is one of those.
Why? Well, one of the problems that I always had with deodorants was that they would always leave white marks on my clothes. This was something I absolutely hated and despite trying different products, and different methods of getting dressed, I would always end up with those horrible white marks on my clothes! So when Sure launched the Crystal range, which promised not to leave any white marks on clothes, I was keen to try it out - even though I doubted whether the claims would be true!
Never looked back!
It is now several years since this product was launched, and if I say that I have never bought another deodorant since then it will give you a good idea of my opinion towards it! Basically on all counts this product delivers.
In terms of design it really is nothing special - it is your usual deodorant can with a button at the top that you press to release the product. As soon as you spray it on it feels nice and dry, and the scent is clean and fresh - and light enough not to clash with any other fragrances you may be wearing. Once I spray this on in the morning, it keeps me fresh all day and I am confident that this will take me through a full day out and about.
And best of all in all the years I have used this it has never left a trace of a white mark on any of my clothes! This is the main reason why I love this product and keep buying it again and again. It really does deliver on all counts and I cannot fault it.
Where to buy?
This deodorant is widely available and is currently half price in Boots. It now comes in three varieties - Clear, Pure and Diamond - and there are also roll-on and stick versions. At full price, a 250ml aerosol is £3.29 and a 150ml can is £1.99. But these are always on offer so do avoid buying them at full price!
In summary ...
I cannot say anything bad about this product. It performs as a deodorant should, leaving me fresh and dry all day, and in addition to that it doesn't leave any marks on my clothes. Perfect!
Sure has always been a brand I'm familiar with, the reassuring tick being something I've been brought up to recognise as quality and this product is no different.
The packaging is attractive and classy looking, the black patterning is a really nice touch and it's a decent size even if you're on the go. The deodorant iteself has a light, fresh and clean scent to it, which doesn't overpower fragrances. The product causes no white marks that appear with some deodorants, so lives up to this promise. I found it really did give all day protection (I don't know about 24 hours, as I'm never up for that long!), even in the hot summer months my perspiration is limited when wearing this. It's also great for the gym, as it significantly reduced the amount of sweat, even during a heavy workout session. It applies very easily, and you don't need to use much for it to take an effect.
Sure are one of my favourite brands of anti perspirant, but often I find them quite hit and miss. Some of their range is fantastic and does everything I ask for, whereas others have been horrendous and I have stayed well clear of. After seeing their Crystal Clear Aqua spray on offer at half price, I thought I would give it a go and see if it did the job.
This anti perspirant retails full price at £3.29 which I think is ridiculous, regardless of how big the can is. That is a lot of money I feel, for an essential which I purchase regularly. Luckily, it was on offer in Morrisons for half price when I brought it, so it was only around the £1.60 mark. This is often on offer in a range of shops such as supermarkets and pharmacies, so I fel that the price I paid was fairly good, but I would never consider paying the full price, regardless of how good it is.
The can of the anti perspirant has glammed up a bit since the one on the picture of this review. It is more curved and stylish. You get a generous 250ml in the can making it quite tall. As you get a lot of product within it, I have found that this has lasted much longer than some of my other anti perspirants which may reflect in the price of this.
As far as ease of use goes, this is fantastic. When bought, the deodorant is essentially locked so you know that no-one has used it, and you just have to push back the spray at the top to use it. You don't have to push down too firmly to get a good amount of spray out. Always spray this 30cm away from the armpits to prevent white marks or irritation, and this will give you the best results. One thing I have found with many Sure deodorants, is that despite how much they claim 'no white marks', the majority always do give me them. Whether this be when I apply it to the arms, or throughout the day when it transfers on to your clothes, it drives me crazy! This one does state that it has incredible white mark protection, so I was willing to put it to the test. I like to put on a lot of anti perspirant, just so I know I am protected, so I went ahead and did so. There was no irritation upon application which is great as my underarms can sometimes be a little sensitive. And even better, I had no white marks - woohoo!
One thing to point out about this deodorant which I liked was its lovely scent. It is called crystal aqua, so I wasn't really sure what to expect from that. I like more fresh, clean scents for my underarms, and this is exactly what it was. It smelt lovely and fresh, but at the same time wasn't completely under your nose. 5/5 for scent.
Sure claim that this provides you with 48 hour protection. I apply deodorant twice a day, so I was not hoping for this claim to be correct. I am not a particularly sweaty person or prone to getting smelly underarms, but I would certainly not trust this to last me two whole days. It keeps you dry under the arm for most of the day, and the fresh scent does last a while. I would say it is more of a '24hr scent'.
Overall, this is a fantastic everyday deodorant which I would be happy to repurchase again in the future. It smells lovely, and does not leave any white marks. However, the price does let it down a little and this is why I have knocked off one star. I hope this helped and thanks for reading.
sure spray is clean, fresh and leaves your arms feeling healthy. i found it to be one of the best as it does not irretate my skin unlike some other brands i have tried. I can use this in the mornings before work and feel fresh and protected all day. i also use this before doing sports or going the gym and still feel fresh why my activities are finished. Perfect size bottle to fit in my handbag and light weight to carry round. Really is one of the best brands out there. i feel protected all day and that is what you expect from a good deodrant. i recommended this to all my friends and they now use it too! aswell as my children also using it. i will never go back to old brands as this is definally the best brand for me, clean, fresh and feeling great all in one go.
I'm a big fan of no-white-marks deoderants, and this is certainly a good one to use. It has a fresh clean-linen style smell, which doesn't linger too much so it won't interfere with perfumes. You also don't need to spray overly much for it to work, and it dries pretty fast. One application lasts all day for normal use - although if you're going to be doing a heavy work-out I would suggest taking it with you! I don't think that it quite makes the 24 hour mark however, and it definitely won't survive a shower or swim. In my opinion the best bit (other than the fact it actually works) is that it actually doesn't leave white marks on my clothes.
The can has the new(ish) Sure lock system, which is pretty useful (no lid to lose; no accidental sprays), and has a pretty design. You need to press fairly hard the first time you use it (which can come as a shock when the button finally gives - watch out) but after that it's fairly easy. Just remember to lock the can if you're going to be transporting it. I think it's a bit bulky for carrying around day-to-day unless you have a huge large bag.
The one downside with this is that it's a little pricier than some of the competitors which have the same results. But if you don't mind the price, I definitely recommend it.
Deodorants are the one beauty product I use everyday, and I love trying new products, especially if they are good! And after deodorant ran out, I have been using a favourite brand for a while, I decided to try something a abet different, and the new Sure Crystal came out, and I thought I'd give it a go (most of my purchases are now based on this!) and as I like Sure, hoped it would be as good as other types.
The Sure deodorant is coloured in a silver can, which has a lace pattern over the can, which is pretty attractive and very appealing for potential buyers. The can has the Sure logo on the can, which many customers might look out for, especially if they like previous Sure products. Although many other cans probably have a lock system, I've only noticed it on the Sure Crystal, which I feel is a really positive, especially if you have it in your bag, it avoids all your things being covered in deodorant! The can has a large amount of information on the can, the front has "incredible white mark protection" and it has "24hour protection". The back of the can has other selling properties, such as "long lasting protection", "alcohol free" and "dermatologically tested". Also there is a lot of safety information and directions of use.
To use Sure Crystal, make sure you shake the can well and as advised hold it around 15cm away from your skin, which is exactly the same as another deodorants, and at first use the top is quite difficult to use, but afterwards the button is really easy to use. The spray is very easy to get into a certain spot, such as arm pits and doesn't end up spraying everywhere, which is always a positive.
Sure Crystal has a very perfumed scent, which I like, as it's not a very summery, girly scent, but more of a flowery deep smell, almost like a body spray,, but the scent is dependent on your personal taste, but I would defiantly recommend trying the scent, as I think is very appealing to a lot of women. The scent is not over powering once it is being worn, as it fades during the day, which would make it appealing, as it's not too over powering, but the smell does over power any smells from sweat and defiantly freshens up my underarms, which is perfect in the summer. The biggest advantage of Sure Crystal is defiantly the long lasting protection, as I can put it on first thing and it lasts right into the night, which is perfect for those long days, and means that you don't need to top up the protection every hour, perfect!
I would defiantly recommend Sure Crystal to ever women, as it smells gorgeous, and not to over powering, so it works well with body spray and perfumed, and it defiantly lasts as long as you need it too, and if you need more protection, you can just keep topping it up, but it's not needed.
Sure Crystal is available at most supermarkets and pharmacists, and costs £2.99 for 250 ml and roughly £1.99 for 150 ml, which might be abit pricey for some, but the product is well worth it!
