When I went into Boots some weeks ago I had a £1 voucher off Sure Crystal deodorant. I didn't actually need to buy any deodorant but I wasn't going to pass up the chance of using a £1 off voucher! As anyone who regularly reads my reviews will know I am usually a Dove girl or these days Body Shop when it comes to deodorants but as I say the lure of £1 off is just too much for me to resist. When I actually went to buy the deodorant there was a problem - it had been reduced from £1.75 to 87p. Now even if maths is not your strong point it is easy enough to work out that if I bought the deodorant at 87p and used the £1 off voucher Boots would then owe me 13p and that isn't going to happen now is it? I actually treated myself to a shower gel for £1 making my total bill £1.87 and I handed over my voucher only to be asked to pay £1.37 - the till had been set to add back 50p - now there was a matter of principle here! I was quite happy to have the face value of the voucher reduced to 87p (the true cost of the product) but I was blowed of they were going to reduce it to 50p! I had a conversation with the assistant who agreed with me and I paid £1 for the shower gel and got my deodorant for free. The deodorant in question, to give it its full name, is Sure Roll On Crystal Clear Aqua. The container is not the one pictured at the top of this review, maybe that one is an older version. It is now one of the new design ones in the shape of a bullet which stands with the roller ball at the bottom which is brilliant because it means that it is so much easier to use all of deodorant as the liquid naturally moves towards the ball rather than away from it as it does with the ones that stand the other way up. I always used to stand my deodorants upside down in the bathroom cabinet so that I could use every last drop before I threw them away! Please tell me I'm not the only one! The 50ml container is made completely from plastic so it is recycleable, which is a good point as far as I am concerned. This one is coloured in shades of grey which sounds a bit dull but actually looks rather classy. It has a screw cap and the label on the front tells us that it is 'anti perspirant and 0% alcohol' and that it is 'invisible' on clothes - even black ones. On the back there is a full list of ingredients. The other thing we are told is that it is 48 hour deodorant. Now I have a problem with this - why would I want a deodorant that would last 48 hours? I have a shower every morning and so it is reapplied daily making 24 hour protection plenty long enough. It isn't just me is it? Anyway on to the use of the deodorant - having unscrewed the cap there is a decent sized roller ball which makes actually applying the deodorant to your underarms nice and easy. I have found that this deodorant always runs freely and I have never had any problem with it drying out, obviously due to the design of the container. I thoiught that the fragrance was really lovely and as usual I find it really difficult to describe but I will have a try. It is a flowery smell without being too sweet or sickly - it is not unlike the smell of baby powder if that helps. I find that the deodorant dries quite quickly after I have applied it which saves me having to stand in the bathroom flapping my arms like a demented seagull! The deodorising and antiperspirant effect works all day long and I haven't yet found any white marks on any of my clothes so it has lived up to its expectations for me. I can't say whether the effect would actually last for 48 hours as I have washed each morning before reapplying the deodorant. The container would be great to take on holiday as it is nice and small and, being a roll on, there wouldn't be any problem with pressure if it was taken on an aeroplane. In conclusion I would have to say that I am very impressed with my 'free' deodorant and would certainly consider buying it again in the future.
When it comes to buying deodorant, there is no one product I buy each and every time. It normally depends whichever one I grab in my weekly Tesco grocery shop or which one is on offer in Boots when I am trying to build up a points collection. I was drawn to Sure Crystal Roll on as I had tried a sure aerosol version and it had worked quite well at keeping me fresh all day, but I wasn't so keen on the roll on aspect as I ended up with white powder on me. So, when I saw this in Tesco I thought I would give it a try. Depending on where you buy this it is between £1.20 and £1.60. As with everything look out for special offers. This Sure deodorant comes in a white plastic container where you can't see any of the product inside. The lid is silver. I think the packaging is quite sporty and will appeal to women on the go. The screw off top lid is easy to take on and off and even do up tight after lots of use. Under the lid is a large roller ball. It is big and has a lot of surface area per volume, so it is easy to use quickly and get good coverage. The liquid is quite cold so can give you a bit of a surprise on a chilly morning. It feels fresh and smells nice and icey, not too floral or overly fragrant, more of a subtle touch. It needs to be left to dry for a couple of minutes after applying to avoid the white marks on your clothes, but that is the same with many deodorants. Now for the downside to this deodorant, if you don't use it for a couple of days the solvent on the roller ball dries up and it gets stuck in pace and it takes a lot of work to un block it so it is free to roll back round. Other than that it is a really good deodorant, it keeps me fresh all day long, even on the more flustering days.
***DEODORANT IN GENERAL*** When it comes to choosing deodorant there are just so many to choose from. Do I go for a spray, a roll on or a stick and do I choose a smelly one or one with no smell? Which one will work for me? The trouble is there's no way to tell whether it's effective until you actually try it out yourself. Luckily I'm not a sweaty person and even in the summer I don't tend to sweat a lot and don't suffer from under-arm wetness, how-ever that doesn't stop me being paranoid about it, especially when I'm hitting the town and dancing all night in the clubs with my friends. I have tried a few different deodorants and I definitely prefer roll on rather than spray's or stick deodorant. The one thing I hate about using deodorant is the white marks it can leave on your black tops. When I was in boots buying my monthly supply of items I also had deodorant on my list and I look through the shelves and found Sure with white mark protection so I just had to give it a go and see if it really lived up to the name. ***PRICE AVALIABILITY*** I purchased this deodorant from boots and it cost me £1.69, this is also available in a spray and a stick which are slightly more expensive. You can also buy this from Superdrug and good supermarkets such as Sainsbury's and Tesco. You may also find this in a Saver's store which may be slightly cheaper. ***PACKAGING*** The deodorant comes in a plastic bottle which stands up-right on its lid and has 50ml in. The bottle and lid colour is a pearl white colour which has a list of ingredients on the back. On the front it has the sure famous tick sign and it states that it has 'Incredible White Mark Protection' and that it's a 24hr Anti-Perspirant Deodorant Roll-on with 0% alcohol. The deodorant is easy to fit in your hand due to the shape of the bottle. The lid simply twist's off the bottom and then twists on again until it makes a click sound. It does state on the lid that it makes a click sound when closing. Personally I wouldn't say that this deodorant stands out from other's and other deodorants on the shelf are more eye-catching how-ever as I know sure is a well known brand and I sae the white mark protection this is what prompted me into buying the product. The shape of the bottle is how-ever different to others on the shelf as they are just standard up-right bottles with screw on lids. ***USING THE DEODORANT*** When using the deodorant for the first time it may take a little while for the ball so start moving, how-ever as soon as this had started you will get a nice amount of deodorant applied to your under-arms which has a light powdery type scent to it. The deodorant is clear so you can't see where it has been applied to your under-arms. There is nothing worse than lifting your arms and seeing white under-arms, especially if you are hitting the town. The deodorant dries quite quickly and doesn't irritate or sting my under-arms. I waited a few minutes until the deodorant was dry then I got dressed ready for the town. Although the deodorant did have white mark protection I was a little paranoid when putting on my black top, how-ever I was very pleased to see no white marks from the deodorant and no white under-arms either! I tend to take my deodorant out with me just in case I feel a bit hot & sweaty during the night. Through-out the night I felt dry and comfortable that the deodorant was doing a very good job at keeping me from getting slightly wet under-arms and also no odour. I couldn't really smell the deodorant, probably due to spraying perfume. I was very pleased with the overall protection it gave me and the fact that it didn't leave white marks on my lovely black top and my under-arms weren't white either. Although I took the deodorant out with me, I didn't actually need to re-apply it through-out the night, even when hitting the dance-floor for a good few hours! ***OVERALL OPINION*** This deodorant certainly lives' up to its name being made by Sure as it doesn't let you down and it does also have the white mark protection which doesn't leave white marks on your black dresses or tops when getting dressed. I like the fact the bottle is easy to hold and fits into your hand nicely and the deodorant has just a light powdery smell which isn't too strong and is very subtle. I would highly recommend this product to other's to try, especially if you have the same problem with white marks in your tops and dresses when going out. This gave me fantastic protection through-out the night and I wasn't paranoid about odour or wetness. Give it a try, it won't let you down! (review also on ciao)
For starters my deodrant looks different from the one on the picture it has the same name so I assume its a revamped bottle. Mine is one which stands on its lid and is a bullet shape. It cost me £1 from my local bargain shop for 50ml which has a life of 24m I have had this bottle for about 2 months and use it on a morning and before I go bed ( I hate sweating in my sleep) and there is still about quarter of a bottle left. Although the container is white plastic if you hold it up to the light you can see how much liquid is left. I swapped to roll on deodrants from sprays a couple of years ago. I got a nasty rash under my arms and after taking antibiotics to clear it up the doctor suggested changing my deodrant so I thought I would give roller balls ago and I have not had a problem since. This roll on is easy to use as it stands on its head the liquid is already on the ball when you go to use it which makes it slide on easily. It takes maybe 3 seconds to dry not long at all and I have had no problems with white marks on my clothes like you can get with some deodrants. The bottle says it has 24hr protection its certainly lasts all day I couldn't say whether it lasts 24 hrs though as I have a shower on a evening and then reapply it so I have never gone 24hrs without reapplying. This is also a deodrant which can be applied straight after shaving. I find that this deodrant lasts all day and stops 'dampness' and also odour being released which is what I want from a deodrant. Its said to smell of aqua not sure what aqua smells like but I would say it smells a little like Johnsons baby wipes quite nice and clean. A recommended deodrant for busy lives.
Sure Crystal roll-on has been slightly redesigned so the bottle looks different to the one above as the bottle now stands on it's cap which means that the roller ball is kept covered in deodorant easier and it's simple to just unscrew the cap and apply to underarms. As soon as I remove the cap I can tell that this has a very nice scent to it. I gave a generous rub under each underarm and this did give me a nice deodorant smell and after waiting a couple of minutes for it to dry I can get dressed and it doesn't give me any white marks. The deodorant smell lasted for the day and it was only in the evening that I started to smell a little unpleasant (heat/exercise being the main contributors to this!). I did find that there was some liquid build up around the base of the this roll-on but this is simply rectified by either rubbing underarms with it or giving it a quick wipe. This is not to be used on broken or damaged skin but I have used it just after shaving and found it to be very kind to my skin. It's deodorant works pretty well and it's very easy to apply. I do have to wait a little before dressing or I still get white marks but I find this with most deodorants. I paid £1.00 for a 50ml bottle of this roll-on from Boots and was very pleased with this price (usual price £1.69) and this normally lasts me for a good few weeks with once or twice daily use. I would definitely recommend this but I do usually end up squirting some spray deodorant under my arms towards the end of the day in this recent hot weather because I am a little paranoid about becoming smelly! I am going to rate this roll-on 4/5 as it works pretty well and has a nice feminine scent to it.
I am always bothered by those white marks that you get on black tops from deoderant so when I saw the advery for the Sure Crystel clear roll on I jumped at the chance to give it a go. But I do have to say that I wasn't that impressed. The roll on was similar to the original Sure apart from the fact that it seemed to dry a bit quicker and also I got the impression that less liquid came off than with the old Sure. This was an improvment but when it came to the white marks I have to say that my top still suffered from the white lines but when comparing it to before I would at least say that there were less white marks. I also noticed a bit of a strange feel to my skin after using the deoderant and it wasn't very easy to wash off. I did like the fragrance though and I would say that it was somewhat of an improvement but I expected better.
I wear a lot of black and in the past this has caused problems for me with deodorants as they were notorious for leaving white marks on clothing. Sure Crystal Clear Roll On is designed to avoid these dreaded marks. The deodorant has a pleasant smell and dries fairly quickly. I dislike aerosol deodorants despite their quick drying properties and feel this product dries at a decent pace, which is important to me. In addition to the fact the Crystal Clear deodorant doesn't leave white marks on your clothing, it is also a very effective anti-perspirant deodorant - I have found it definitely cuts down on the amount I sweat and certainly helps cut down on any odour. Sure have a very good reputation in this market and I find this product helps to strengthen that reputation. The one thing I do wish is that all deodorants had the "no white marks" formula - in this day and age it seems very strange to me that this isn't the standard for all these products.
