The version shown in this photo was my favourite anti-perspirant and would have got 5 stars from me. But the latest incarnation with the new 'motion sense' nozzle is diabolical. It's almost unusable due to the level of unpleasant fumes that fill the room. You have to take a deep breath, spray and evacuate quickly - not easy when you're changing in a toilet cubicle after cycling to work! Probably OK for use out in a field in high winds.
Over the last 6 months or so I have found that my consumption of Anti - Perspirant sprays has increased fairly considerably. This is not because I turned overnight into some kind of sweat monster, but instead due to my recent love for running. I did a couple of runs for charity at the end of last year, and after that joined my local running club, and now it is not uncommon for me to be out running on the wet and cold roads at least 3 -4 evenings a week. Each run is followed by a shower, and then a generous spray of Anti-Perspirant to each armpit. Prior to my running hobby, I would generally use a deodorant spray first thing in the morning and that would be enough until bed time, but now I am often using the spray at least 3 times a day.
When purchasing an anti-perspirant I generally used to buy whatever was on offer at the best deal, but I have to admit that over the years this tactic has been to my detriment as some of them have resulted in rashes to the underarm or white patches appearing on my clothing.
My purchase of Sure Men Active Anti-perspirant at the end of last year was one that I was really pleased with, and as such I have re-purchased it several times since.
Sure Men Active comes in a 250 ml silver and purple coloured aerosol can and is available from most supermarkets and pharmacies. It generally retails at around £2:50 - £3:30 for a single can but is very often on offer with a multi buy discount for purchases of 2 or 3 bottles at the same time. It is also available in a 150 ml can, but this works out to be more expensive, although is perhaps more suitable for a gym bag, or for taking away on holiday.
At the top of the bottle is a press down nozzle with a subtle finger grip on it which is used to release the deodorant from the can in a simple and smooth flow.
The smell is quite difficult describe, but I would say it is a fresh and clean smell, almost like the smell of fresh washing from the washing machine. It is reasonably masculine, with very little detection of any real perfume or scented vapours.
In terms of protection, the can states (as do most deodorants) that it will provide 48 hour protection. This is something that I would disagree with, as I use it a couple of times a day as detailed above. I can only assume that Sure have come up with this statement by testing it on someone who does no activity, and sits in an air-conditioned room with a plentiful supply of cold drinks and maybe just maybe it would then provide enough protection for it to only need applying every 48 hours.
Overall I personally think that Sure Men Active is a decent anti-perspirant deodorant which seems to suit my skin type quite well. It is verging on the expensive end of the anti-perspirant deodorant price range, but if purchased when on offer it can work out quite cheap. The can is a good design, and deodorant is perfectly suitable for people with active lifestyles.
Thanks for reading.

My otherhalf used to always use Lynx deodorant/antiperspirant as he said it was the only thing that stopped him sweating The price of it was going up and up and the can was quite small up to other sprays so I suggested he try a different one just to see what it was like. I always buy Sure women's sprays for myself so bought him a Suremen's spray the other day while out shopping. I thought to myself that if he didn't like it I could use it up myself.
My otherhalf works long shifts, 12 hours a day with at least an hours drive each way so he likes to keep himself feeling and smelling fresh all day long. When I first showed him the can of Suremen he said he would try it out but while at home so that if it didn't work he could wash and reapply or go back to his old one again. We were going to be doing some shopping and walking about in the morning so he was being quite energetic. He used the spray in the morning after washing and the first thing he said was that he liked the smell. It has a nice clean smell to it which makes you feel like it is going to work for some reason. The smell is not highly perfumed like the Lynx ones but is still really nice. He sprayed it under his arms and over his chest which is where he usually sprays.
For our trip out it he was wearing a shirt and a coat over the top, it wasn't especially warm out but we did have quite a bit of walking around and shopping to carry home. When we got home, he took off his coat and his shirt still looked nice and dry under the arms. He was quite surprised as thought he had been sweating while out. He still smelled nice too, so decided to leave it as it was and see what he was like by the evening. We had a lot of jobs to do that afternoon including sorting out the loft so again he was doing strenuous work and again in the evening he was still nice and dry and comfortable and smelling of roses (well not really roses but you get what I mean).
Since this trial day my otherhalf has used the Suremen spray everyday and does not buy Lynx anymore for himself and only uses it if he gets some for Christmas. He is totally satisfied with the way it works and protects him all day, and is quite happy to work all day with just the one application in the morning.
You can buy this at the moment in Superdrug for £3.29 which I think is a good price. You get 250ml for this and a can lasts nearly a whole month.
I am always trying out different sorts of deodorants. They have to be specifically for blokes though, I am not one of these men who is happy to spray on my other half's deodorant if I am in a hurry. I am a man who likes to smell like a man, not a woman. My dear other half tends to buy me my deodorants when she goes out for the weekly shop and she usually brings me something back that's suitable.
One of the ones she brought me back recently has been the Sure Deodorant for Men. She paid £2.50 for this can which is 250ml in size, which I thought was quite a lot, but apparently she said it was 'a good one'. I do have a bit of a perspiration problem, mainly, I think, due to my size. I am a large bloke but I like to take as much exercise as I can and I am also cycling to and from work most days now so I need something that is going to be really effective.
I also use a roll on deodorant, which I suppose is easier to pop into my backpack on my way to work. I have to have a shower at the other end, once I arrive and taking a spray is a bit bulky, but this can is tall and slim so it's not so much of a problem to slide down the sides of my rucksack.
The spray is fresh smelling and quite masculine. Having said that though, my dear other half will often have a sly spray of it when she has her weekly bathing routine. It is a strong and powerful deodorant and the can says it lasts for up o 24 hours.
It does help me a lot with my perspiration and not only that, if I do slightly perspire, it definitely covers up the nasty smells of sweat. I like to wear a dark navy shirt at work sometimes too and this deodorant does not make any white marks on my underarms. It is not meant to be a deodorant which is resistant to white marks, but for whatever reason, it doesn't seem to happen on my darker clothing, so I am happy with that.
It dries quickly and comes out in a fine even mist. Overall, I cannot really complain about this great deodorant. It's a brand I know and trust and overall I really think it is very effective indeed.
For Deodorants I tend to reach more for brands such as Lynx and Adidas and before the last few months I hadn't used Sure for a long time, but the wife picked up a tin of this when it was on offer and I have to say it is a pretty good Deodorant.
Looking in the shops I see that this costs around £1.80, but the wife got this for £1.39 down in Savers. I got this in a 150ml tin, which is the usual size of tins.
The tin looks just like the picture. It looks quite a masculine tin with the silver, black and blue colours on it.
Just shake the tin and spray it as you would normally use an Anti perspirant tin.
This does smell quite masculine, but is a bit lighter and fresher than other brands that i've used. The scent is strong enough but without being overpowering and it seems to dry quick enough as well.
I found that after spraying this in the morning then I still felt fresh and dry later on in the day. Perhaps not qutie as dry a good few hours later than what I felt in the morning, but still a good enough dryness.
This done a good job and I would use this again and look out for buying this in the future.
"Sure... It won't let you down"
A bold statement to make and something that's presumably scraped through the false advertising panel by the skin of its teeth... not that I don't like Sure products, I've been swearing by them (or should that be at them) since I started growing hair in unusual places and smelling badly unless I washed more than twice a week...
I've literally gone through the whole range of Right Guard, Nivea, Sanex and Sure Anti-Perspirants but I've never been entirely satisfied with the result... whatever I buy seems to work for about a fortnight before my sweat glands cotton on to the fact they've been conquered and change their approach to making me smelly.
I've found Sure products to be the most stable in their de-smellifying ability and they can usually be found in a "two for one" or other special offer discount package, hence my preference amongst a bunch of products that don't really do the trick. I normally buy from Asda (though you'll find this product on the shelfs of most supermarkets and pharmaceutical type places (Superdrug for example) and you'll be looking at between £2.00 and £2.50 per can.
The container of the product is sturdy enough and pretty functional... yeah it has a 'grip' on the sides but that neither improves nor devalues the product in my eyes. The actual spraying mechanism is solid and will not fall apart and prevent spraying, it also has a very well targeted spraying arc which means you don't end up with a massive coverage or coverage too concentrated... pretty much all products use the same sort of mechanism nowadays so again, neither a plus or a negative in that regard.
This product does not leave any white marks and I've not noticed any staining on any of my most regularly rotated shirts.
This anti-perspirant scent is ok, nothing more and nothing less but as the scent is not the reason I buy the product this doesn't bother me. I do find that different products smell differently on me to what they do on others (Lynx, for example, smells ok on my Dad but makes me smell of cat wee)... I have no complaints about Sure products.
As for its ability to stop me sweating... its hit and miss so I give this a three... as I've said in the title, I may just be one smelly and sweaty man but short of winning the lottery and having my sweat glands removed, this'll do.
"Sure... If you know you're stinky and its damage limitations you're after, it won't let you down any more or any less than any other product and it doesn't smell of cat pee."
I have tried lots of different brands of deodorants and even the cheaper brands as I sometimes become a little short of money when it is Christmas time or sometimes birthday times as I have a lot of grandchildren and it can become quite costly, especially if you have a few birthdays in the same month as most of us do in families and when I see a product on offer I usually buy it to save money.
I have bought this deodorant on many occasions and when I saw it on offer at Sainsbury's for only £3 for 2, I popped them into my trolley because the usual price is around £2.50 just for one and so one was almost free and so I saved some money. The can has a nice design, although it does not really matter to me what the can looks like as long as it works for my liking. It is a nice one though if anyone does like a more attractive one.
It comes in a nice can and it has a press down nozzle to release the deodorant onto the skin, the size of the can is a nice slim can and it is very easy to hold to spray under my arms. The can size is 250ml, so a very good size for the price and it is a really good quality deodorant with a really nice smell. The fragrance is a nice one which is not at all feminine, it is masculine but I would say it would be nice for a woman too because my wife has used it a couple of times and she has liked it.
It sprays really well from the can and it sprays evenly too, which is good and it does not drip from the can. It also is a nice fine spray and it dries really quickly and I can get dressed easily within a couple of minutes or so and so I do not have to wait a long time with this one to dry. It leaves my skin not feeling all sticky as it is nice and smooth on my skin after use.
I find I do not need to top it up as I have with some other brands, this one is excellent with no problems at all, it also does not leave those white marks on my clothing as some have, my shirts have been fine with no white ring marks. I do not like a deodorant that I have to keep topping up because I find it so inconvenient and so this one really does suit my lifestyle. It tells me on the can it last for up to 24 hours of which I have found it absolutely does on my skin. I do not sweat a lot and so it is a good one for me.
It is a refreshing smell which lasts for a very long time indeed, it has never irritated my skin or given me any rashes at all and I have bought and used it a couple of time in the past and it has really suited my skin.
It can also be placed into the recycle bin after use.
I highly recommend this deodorant, it is excellent value for money and I think it a very nice one indeed. I will keep on buying it and especially when I see it on special offer as it is worth every penny.
I rate it 5 stars.
I don't mind too much which deodorant or body spray I use as long as it provides protection from body odour, it works without causing irritation and the fragrance is not too overpowering. In the past I have used Right Guard and Lynx but most recently I have been applying Sure Men Active Anti-per spirant.
I always feel happy using a brand like Sure as they are well known, trust worthy and manufacture a lot of other products in this area that people like to use. A 250ml can of this spray is available on the Tesco website for £1.79 which I feel is very competitive with other brands but more often than not one supermarket or another will have these on some kind of promotion so you can stock up and make good savings. Even at normal price though despite trying to be more economical it is important to make sure you have a product that works as I'm sure we all know having body odour is very embarrassing or would be embarrassing and not worth suffering to save a few pence in this case.
The can is aluminium and can be recycled I think and is a smart silver design with black and purple text and pattern. The spray is dispensed by a simple to use push button at the top of the can which incidentally can be locked using a slide switch to prevent it from spraying accidentally if you have it in your bag for example or if your children get hold of it. This is a great feature I think as it will stop the contents from being wasted by mistake and more importantly prevent children from getting it in their eyes or something potentially dangerous like that.
This spray apparently offers 24 hour protection and is proven to still work at 58 degrees Celsius, the hottest recorded temperature on earth but I'm probably not going to get the chance to test this claim in Northamptonshire. Seriously though I find this does stop body odour while I'm at work and I do a somewhat physical job but by the end of the day it doesn't protect you completely but it is definitely as good and successful as any deodorant I have used.
When I bought this product I expected it to be top notch, as I paid £2.00 for it at Boots the Chemist (reduced from £2.59 on offer). This wasn't because it was fairly expensive, but because it was marketed as providing "absolute 24 hour protection" - the deodorant can even states that the product is "proven to work at 58C, the hottest temperature recorded on earth". However, I do beg to differ.
Before analysing the performance of the deodorant, I'll start with the packaging. It comes in a tall thin spray can, with a silver base colour design, and purple trim. It also has grips on the side of the can (prententious in my opinion), and also has a lock feature on the spray cap (this protects against spraying by accident, for example if it is stored in your bag for the day and could be sprayed unintentionally).
Anyway, to the performance. I was really disappointed wih the product. The anti-perspirant has a scent that wasn't very nice to start with, and got worse the longer the day went on. The slightest bit of sweat (which the spray was meant to protect against anyway) produced an awful smell; and this was compounded with the fact that the deodorant was really sticky after approximately an hours use.
In all, I was really, really disappointed with the product.
Never before have I thought that advertising was understating what the product it is referring to does, but in this case I've had my opinions turned on their heads. I've been using this for quite a while and I like it a lot, the smell is certainly inoffensive and it is quite an effective anti-perspirant and deodorant. Purely on performance I would rate it five stars out of five as, not to go into too much detail, it has handled more than I would ever expect any anti-perspirant to handle.
One feature I do like about this anti-perspirant is that there is a little lock on the lid, which means if you are travelling you don't accidentally spray white spray all over your clothes.
That said there is a down side to this impressively effective anti-perspirant, as there always is with something which works almost too well. My partner is an asthmatic and it seems that using this stuff around her at any stage causes her asthma to start acting up and she has to go hunting for the inhaler as soon as she comes within 10 feet of the spraying, which usually means within 10 feet of me, this tends to be an issue when you have to drive to work together, but I digress.
To sum it up Sure Men Active Absolute Protection 24H does exactly what it says on the tin, but it also has a nasty tendency to knock out asthmatics, actually that might make a good advertising campaign in itself
