I used to have a big problem with sweating loads and tried nearly every deodrant under the sun to keep me feeling fresh for a reasonable amount of time during hot weather, exercise and general day to day activities. I really dislike roll on deodrants as I don't find they dry quick enough and so soak the armpits of tops before you have even gone out of the house. Therefore I have been through most brands of anti-perspirant spray deodrant trying to find one with a strong enough scent that lasts.
This deodrant was on offer in Asda for £1.50 therefore I decided to try it. I decided that the Aloe-Vera should keep my underarms happy after shaving as well due to me having quite sensitive skin and it defintely did. It soothed my underarms after shaving and left them feeling soft. It has a lovely scent to it and even though as i've got older, my sweating issues have calmed down, this deodrant still keeps me feeling fresh and keeps the sweat at bay when i'm having a busy shift. However, it definitely doesn't provide 48 hours of freshness like it claims even when you aren't particularly active. But in my opinion I have never found a deodrant that does last as long as it claims.
When not on offer, this deodrant sells for between £1.99 and £3 depending on where you shop. However I always buy a few when they are on offer as I know i'll use them up even if I don't need them at the time of purchase.
Overall, I love this deodrant, I found I only have to spray the deodrant on two occasions whilst working a busy 12 and a half hour shift. The smell is lovely without being overpowering and its great for use after shaving.
Unlike some lucky girls who don't sweat buckets, I have to be careful at the kind of anti-perspirant I use to get the job done - and in this sense I go for the big branded stuff as I have more faith that they are reliable than the cheaper brands.
However I like a good bargain and only tend to buy big name anti-perspirants when they are on offer during my monthly shop in Tesco and I normally stock up, going through 1-2 bottles to myself every month.
The Sure anti perspirants in my opinion have the best looking packaging - with the bottle now in a different tall curvy shape to whats pictured here - to me it represents the shape of a womans body in a not so obvious way - it curves in slightly towards the top of the bottle and opens out thicker towards the bottom... or to others the feature could be there to make holding the bottle a little more comfortable, which works very well!
One thing that annoys me about some bottles is the fact that the top which covers the aerosol spray can be loose and can fall off often causing a mess in your handbag... Im happy to tell you the top on these bottles is quite secure and if you are careful this will not happen... However there is no safety lock on these that you see on a lot of aerosols and to me this does let the bottle down. There is a statement on the back of the bottle which gives you instruction on how to unlock the spray but I have found it unlocks only when you first use the product - and is not lockable again after... useless really apart from the sense that you can tell if someone has used it in store previous to you purchasing it...
Another issue which grinds me - not just with Sure - but the product claims it has the ability to last 48 hours even when your quite an active person... I am yet to find a product that lives up to that claim - I don't like false statements at all from a manufacturer... The statement on the back of the bottle states "With a breakthrough motion sense system from Sure containing microcapsules which are activated when you move releasing little bursts of freshness throughout the day" - This statement I do agree with - as previously mentioned I do not have the dryest underarms in the world and if I'm having a stressful day at work unfortunatly my pits get the worst of it! This product has rarely failed me with the dreaded SWEAT PATCH which is a hard thing to find with many products.
Out the Sure range my favourite is this Aloe Vera scent - for no reason other than I love everything Aloe Vera, my favourite products being Aloe Vera aftersuns - due to the gorgeous scent and caring elements it has to offer my skin. I do tend to find this product, like after sun tends to work better on my underarms especially after shaving or using my epulator. If your not a great fan of Aloe Vera, like myself, fear not... unlike many other strong smelling aloe vera products the scent as nice as it is, is quite faint and not overpowering or sickly... and in my experiance the scent compliments most perfumes and body sprays you use along beside it.
A nice thing which is included with this at the moment is that Sure have teamed up with French Connection to give a lucky buyer the chance to win one of several French Connection outfits - its an online competition which I entered a couple of days ago on www.surewomen.co.uk but knowing my luck I wont of won (although it would be nice as the dress I chose was very pretty!)
I bought this 250ml bottle from the Sure range for around £1.50 when on offer but currently stocks at Tesco for £3.00 - which in my opinion is a little bit of a high price to pay so I would recommend waiting until its on offer and stocking up - which happens quite a lot in Tesco.
I always use an anti-perspirant after I've had my shower or bath in the morning. I like to know I can go about my day and be dry all day long. There's nothing worse than stinky sweaty armpits halfway through the day! I'm forever chopping and changing my deodorant brands, when one runs out I'll usually just buy whatever is on offer at the time so I've tried quite a few over the years. I'm currently using this Sure Aloe Vera anti-perspirant deodorant.
The normal price for this is a whopping £3.29 for a 250ml can. For me that's way over the top for an anti-perspirant and I'd never pay that price but I got it on offer in Boots for £1.64 which is half price. That to be should really be the normal price compared to others on the market. The deodorant itself comes in a very tall can which isn't at all handbag friendly due to its size. It has one of those unlock systems where you have to place your finger on the rubber pad at the top and push it forward. I found it very easy to unlock, it wasn't stiff at all. Sure promise this deodorant has their motionsense system which they say gives you long lasting pritection wherever you move. On the back there is a little tick checlist showing what the deorodrant provides:
- With a breakthrough motionsense system from Sure containing microcapsules which are activated when you move, releasing little burts of freshness throughout the day.
- Long lasting protection against wetness and odour with a light fresh fragrance.
- Alcohol free and dermatologically tested.
Directions for use are with any other spray on anti-perspirant just shake the can, hold about 15cm away from your underarm and spray. It also states this is for underam use only.
I've been using this for about 2 weeks now and have to say I'm very happy with it. It keeps me dry all day through to the night but it does not give the 48 hour protection it promises on the can. Writing this I haven't had my shower yet and applied it yesterday after my bath and I do feel sweaty and a bit gross under my arms. Mind you I haven't actually come across any anti-perspirant that meets it's claim of 48 hours of dryness. The scent is a nice fresh green kind of smell of aloe vera. It does smell nice but it's not one of the best smelling deodorants I've had. I personally prefer something a bit more fruity or floral.
I would recommend this anti-perspirant as it does keep me dry for 24 hours and will re purchase if it's on offer. However at full price I think it's over priced as it does nothing special compared to other anti-persiprants on the market. I'm gonna give it 3 stars simply because the normal price of £3.29 is over the top for me. If it was normally £1.64 I'd give it 5 stars.
Available in supermarkets, Boots & Superdrug.
I have always used a good brand when it comes to deodorant as the last thing you want is your product failing you at a time of need!
As a result I have pretty much stuck to Sure since I was a teenager as I came to realise I could rely on their products whatever the weather or situation. I was in my local chemist a few weeks ago and noticed they had the Sure Aloe Vera deodorant on a special offer for only £1 for the 150ml can. I hadn't previously used this particular deodorant in their range so for only £1 I was keen to try it.
~ What is it? ~
This Sure deodorant is the aloe vera version, meaning it is kind to your skin, the inclusion of this ingredient should result in smooth and moisturised under arms.
This deodorant is a long lasting product, that is designed to keep your under arms fresh and dry for 24 hours. It is alcohol free with a slight fragrance.
Personally I think the fragrance reminds me of spring days with a light floral type scent.
~ The Packaging ~
This deodorant comes in a white and light green coloured pressurised canister with the brand and a large tick clearly visible across the front of the deodorant. When on a shelf in a supermarket or likewise it is clear this is a Sure product.
The decoration of the can isn't overly fussy or even attractive in my opinion but serves it's purpose.
To use there is a small lockable feature at the back of the lid where you slide to open and close, meaning when it is closed you are unable to press the deodorant to spray.
~ Price and Availability ~
This Sure product is available from most supermarkets, chemists and other cosmetic stores. As mentioned I paid only £1 on a special offer for the 150ml can, however it is usually available for around £1.99 for this size.
~ My Opinion ~
After having used Sure products for many years I had high hopes for this aloe vera deodorant. The deodorant itself has a pleasant fragrance which I found lasted for quite some time through the day, which was nice - at least it was working!
The main issue I had was that I found the deodorant left white residue under my arms. I had used the deodorant in accordance with the instructions on the can, so I was not spraying it too close to my under arm area, however it still left this horrible whiteness. I certainly wouldn't have risked wearing a black top after having used the deodorant as it would have left a mark.
I found that despite this, the deodorant was long lasting and left a fresh feeling throughout the day, even when playing sports so for the price I paid it was a good product and good value.
I would probably use this deodorant again during summer months when I more likely to wear lighter coloured clothing, however if my usual Sure deodorant is available I'm pretty sure I will veer towards that again.
This review may also appear on Ciao under the same name.
I'm not one to pass up a freebie so when my mum offered me a cannister of Sure Women Aloe Vera, being me I said yes please! Despite not having much of a summer this year there has been many times where I have had to use some sort of deodorant.
Sure women comes in your standard tin with the push down spray at top.
The top of the can is angled slightly to allow the spray to actually spray your arm pits rather than your clothes or arms. The can is mostly white with an attractive light green colour theme decorating it in places as well as telling us it's Aloe Vera, Body Responsive and providing us with a 24H clock.
The spray claims to provide long lasting protection against wetness and odour with a light and fresh fragrance. The spray bottle also informs us that it is alcohol free, pH balanced and dermatologically tested.
The spray itself has a sweet, yet beautifully fresh cucumber sort of scent. Very gentle, delicately light and extremely refreshing.
Although I do like the scent of this deodorant, as well as many others, from Sure for me they are terrible for leaving a flakey, talc sort of line under my armpits and on my clothes despite the angled top. No matter what roll on, or spray anti perspirant I use I have a habit of holding my arms up a few seconds to ensure whatever I'm using has dried properly. However even after doing this, this Sure spray, as well as others I've tried, still tend to leave a white powdery mark on my underarms which is a right pain. If it wasn't for this problem I'd reccomend this spray, along with other Sure sprays, as for me it has a fantastic fragrance to it, the powdery pit thing doesn't do it for me though I'm afraid.
I got this Deodorant about 4 months ago and forgot all about the scent until I saw it on Dooyoo again. It doesn't seem to be as widely available in Asda where I stay which is a shame as it is a nice smelling Deodorant.
This costs around £1.80 on the normal price. I picked it up when it was Rolled back to £1.50 as any kind of saving is alright by me. I do often use Soft and Gentle which can be picked up for £1, but unfortunately Sure never seems to be as cheap as this.
This looks alright. It is mainly white with light green on it. THis will be to symbolise the Aloe Vera. There is no lid on this and you just flick a bit at the back to unlock this and use. It is ok and at least you don't have to worry about the lid coming off in your bag and the risk of this spraying everywhere.
This comes out in quite a fine spray but it seems that bit stronger and thicker than Dove. It isn't too thick or cloudy, but you can feel this when it is sprayed anyway. It dries quick enough and you can just spray this then apply your clothes and not worry about it rubbing off on them and not protecting yourself.
This has a nice gentle scent. It isn't the strongest scent, but it is a nice clean, crisp smell. It smells a bit creamy but not in the same way as Dove. It smells light and fresh and all in all a great spray.
This is 1 of the nicest scented Sure Deodorants. It does what it is meant to do, keeps me feeling fresh and dry and I would recommend this one to use just for the smell if anything else.
I've used this product several times now, although I do prefer the roll on as it is much easier to use and seems to last longer. I find this product doesn't last as long as it states, although it always leaves you smelling fresh, you do not always feel it. There are no white marks left when using it though, which is a big bonus, as with roll on's you have to wait for them to dry before you do anything, with this you can do whatever you want as soon as you've put it on, without worrying about smudging white marks over yourself. I find that this product runs out quite quickly as well, as it is easy to spray on more than you need and you can get a bit carried away, whereas with a roll on, it is easy to tell when you have enough or not. This spray does not feel harsh or too cold when applying it to your underarms either, which is a massive bonus, as this can be a very unpleasant experience.
Im a regular user of sure and find that i normally use the roll on product because its easier to use and I normally don't like the harsh cold feel when spraying. However when i used this product I found that it was easy to use and didn't give the cold feeling when sprayed. I have also found that this product can keep you protected for a long time which is great! The smell of it isn't over empowering like a strong perfume smell. It is a light and pleasant scent which you can smell from time to time in the day. it also doesn't leave any white marks when you spray this product, just use the directions on the can "shake well" and it does the job as it says. This product over all is a great product and I'd recommend it to any woman who would switch to another product like sure.
I have been buying Sure deodorant for a few months now as I think it is a really good product and the Sure roll-on keeps me dry so I thought I would try a spray deodorant for a change.
I bought the Sure anti-perspirant spray for £1.10 out of my local chemist shop and the one I have is the Sure with aloe Vera. The can is a nice size and this has lasted me for about a month so it is good value.
The spray does not make me itch and I have sensitive skin and find lots of deodorant sprays do so this is good. I like the smell to and I think it is a nice fresh smell and I like how I can smell it even if I have used perfume.
The spray is nice to use and I would buy it again but it is not the best spray I have ever used. This is because it does not stop me from sweating and I would rather that it did. The Sure spray leaves white marks on my clothes too and I hate this and would rather it did not do this. I have bought cheap deodorant sprays before and they are even better than the Sure spray for white marks so why can this dearer deodorant not do the same?
I would buy it again though and this is because I like the smell so much and it reminds me of summer. This is good on the cold winter mornings and I also like how the Sure spray does not make my skin itchy. I would buy it again for these reasons but not because it keeps me feeling dry or fresh because it doesn't.
I wouldn't suggest giving it a try unless you wanted a deodorant with a lovely smell.
There is nothing worse than body odour and whenever I come across someone that smells I just cannot believe that they don't realise that they smell and do something about it........surely if I can smell them they can smell themselves. Therefore because I don't want to be the person that smells I will also make sure I use a good deodrant and lots of it.
Over the years I have tried many different brands when they have been on special offers but I have now come to the conclusion that Sure Anti-perspirant is the one and only product for me. In particular I like the Aloe Vera but that is probably only becauses I like the smell the best.
On the can it claims "you cannot buy a more effective anti-perspirant aerosal for women" and I totally agree with this statement. You can spray it on a morning and it will leave you fresh for the rest of the day. I never sweat when I use this, unless it is a particular hot day. I also never get smelly when I use this. I do exercise quite a lot and walk loads so I do feel that I put the deodrant to the test, and it never lets me down.
Sure is alcohol free, pH balanced and dermatologically tested. It offers long lasting protection against wetness and odour with a light fresh fragrance. It is easy to use, simply hold can 15cm from underarm and spray.
Sure is slightly pricier than other deodrants. You can buy it in a 150ml can or a 250ml can. I buy the larger size and when at full price this costs £2.39, this will usually last me just over a week. In the supermarkets there are often special offers on this deodrant and I will often stock up to avoid paying more.
The only problem I have with Sure Deodrant is that it always makes me sneeze when I put it on, I don't know why but it does.
After trying many brands of deodrant this is by far the best product available. A nice fragranced deodrant that protects against sweating and smelling, it really does work.
I have a real phobia about smelling sweaty. I once worked with a man who had a body odour problem and I remember how nasty people were about it, since that day I have been paranoid about being the smelly person in the office. I would like to add I don't think I am though at this point, just one of those irrational fears we have.
I therefore, get through a lot of deodorant. I always have one in the bedroom and one in my handbag. I am not overly brand loyal with deodorants and tend to go with whichever one is on offer at the time of buying. I bought this particular one last week as they were on offer 2 for £2 in a local chemist and I think this are normally around £2 each.
The can is white with green trim and the famous green tick on the front. The can doesn't have a seperate lid, you simply break the seal and then press the top to dispense the spray.
This deodorant claims to offer long lasting protection as it is intelligently forumulated to work in synch with your body. It is alcohol free, ph balanced and dermatologically tested.
I have used this for about a week now and so far have no complaints. I use it once in the mornings and it has lasted all day. The best thing about this spray is it doesn't stain your clothes and leave awful white marks like some other brands too. I have read other reviews which said it did leave stains, but I haven't found this at all, makes you wonder if they have updated the forumla.
The spray leaves you instantly feeling cool and refreshed. It smells nice, it has a light floral scent to it. You can smell it on your skin but it doesn't over power your perfume.
I would recommend this deodorant as it "does what it says on the tin" but I don't think I would pay the £2 full price for it when there are so many other cheaper brands on the market which do just as good a job.
I recently had an emergency whereby I had run out of deodorant without realising and making the necessary arrangements by getting more. I also, at the time, only had £5.78 in order to get lunch and now a deodorant. This posed a problem as I was dreading the thought of having to use a rubbish own-brand spray from my local Boots. How thrilled I was when 'Sure Women Aloe Vera' was on special offer. Two cans for 2.50, that left me plenty for lunch. I thought my luck was in, well known and apparently trust worthy brand promising 24hour protection. I was also glad that the particular spray that was in the offer was Aloe Vera as I have very sensitive skin and have often found that Aloe Vera products have been good for me, or at the very least not reacted with my skin.
The can looked pleasant to, very cool and clean colours. It features an interesting 'locking' mechanism whereby you slide a little grey coloured piece of plastic across the back of the can to lock and unlock the deodorant. This is a nice touch as it stops and accidental sprays if it's in a handbag and also avoids the need for a lid that inevitably falls off anyway. The front of the can is predominantly white, with a light, apple green swirl down the whole front from top to bottom, the large green 'Sure' trademark tick, as well as the brand name in black. In the same green the can tells consumers its Aloe Vera, Body Responsive, 24 hour protection and contains 0% alcohol. This was all nice to know. The back is mainly the light apple green used for just detail on the front. It has a little logo telling you how to operate the slider system and again sports the 'Sure' logo. Underneath this, it makes the promise that 'You Cannot Buy a More Effective Anti-Perspirant Aerosol for Women'. This is a high claim and I was eager to test its strength.
Just to make sure that I wasn't going to end up with a product I didn't like the smell of, I do as anyone would and sprayed a little into the air in the shop, just to make sure that it was a smell I wanted to carry with me for the rest of the day. It was nice and smelt, unsurprisingly, of Aloe Vera. It also didn't have that initial, nasty smell that chokes you like some other deodorants do so that was a definite bonus. I thought that this was brilliant. It was light and fresh and made me feel cooler just by the smell.
So I bought it.
Although it smells nice and it cools you down, it leaves the most awful white marks I have ever seen! I used it as soon as I got home and it looked like I had dandruff coming from my armpits. It doesn't just leave them on clothes, but on skin to. I didn't notice until I put my arm down after applying and just saw what looked like fairly heavy snowfall on my bedroom floor. I took a look and my armpit was caked in a thick, which nasty powder.
Admittedly it smelt fine and works all day, as claimed. However I can't use it when wearing strappy tops because it looks so awful and its just annoying having to brush off these clumps and clean up the mess every time I want to use it. Although the deodorant doesn't make any claims about not leaving any white marks, this is ridiculous. It wasn't just a little white stain on my clothes, it was everywhere.
I would avoid this product, because personally, although it smells nice and I like the lid, it really isn't usable everyday. Very disappointing for such a well established household name. The worst thing is now I'm stuck with two of them!
The star I have awarded is simply based on smell alone, and if that was all that mattered it would be a great product. Sure, Must Try Harder!
I'm rather fussy with my deodorant's and like to know that what I am about to purchase is going to do it's supposed job of keeping me dry and smelling 'fresh'.
I have tried many different brands over the years and have always opted for my personal favourite..Sure.
I don't know what it is about this exactly that makes me go back to it, but I always do. It's not as if I don't find myself doing a 'top up' spray midday because I often do. I like this product (in all different forms from roll-ons to aerosols) and I can't quite put my finger on why.
Price and packaging~
I think, believe it or not, one of the main things that contributes to me buying and using it is the packaging. Now there is certainly nothing special about the tin at all. In fact dare I say it has a boring and plain look to it? But when it comes to deodorant I don't care what the tin looks like. This certainly doesn't scream 'sexy' or 'provocative' or even 'classy'! The one thing it does seem to constantly scream is 'reliable' and 'trustworthy'. At the risk of sounding like some problem page agony aunt it's got going for it all the things that are important in a relationship and not just the looks..(*cringes* at the thought of actually writing that..even though true!).
So the actual packaging is, as you have probably imagined by now rather basic stuff. An all white tin with the 'Sure' logo emblazoned on the front and the relevant information on the back. The price will probably vary a great deal depending on where you shop but I got this from Superdrug on a Buy One Get One Free offer at £1.69 recently - pretty good for a 250ml tin, purse wise at least.
I tend to shower first thing in a morning and sometimes use this or my Sure roll on (in this same fragrance of aloe vera). I hold the can about 6 inches away from my under arm area and spray 3 short sprays. I then proceed to do the exact same under the opposite arm pit. I find that seems to be sufficient for a busy day of running around after two small boys. It doesn't seem to 'cake' and go chalky and fall in a clump on the floor like other deodorants I have tried, and it does keep me smelling as fresh as a daisy - or as fresh as aloe vera till at least bed time. It is a white mist when sprayed onto skin but blends in, and has a really fresh smell. Apart from saying it is a clean fresh smell, and smells of aloe vera I can't really describe the aroma it leaves very much, apart from that - sorry! As for staying power, due to paranoia I will smell by the time I do the 20 minute walk to pick my boys up from school, I often do a top up spritz around 3pm just in case!
I like this product. A lot. I have bought Sure Products for most of my adult (and teenage) life and have 'never been let down' as they do seem to promise. A good deodorant, at a good price.
I have a theory about deodorants and it possibly only applies to me but I am convinced that I have to change my deodorant every few months otherwise it seems to lose its effectiveness.
I have tried many deodorants, both roll on and aerosol, and found that many work terrifically for the first few months, and then I start to notice their effectiveness wearing away, leaving me feeling sticky, and a little smelly -this is usually the time I scan the shelves to try another deodorant.
Well, I have tried many of the various sure deodorants on the market, and of all the brands available, I feel that sure products usually offer the best anti perspirant.
I have been using Sure Women aloe vera 24hous anti perspirant aerosol for at least 4 or 5 months now, sometimes varying it with another aerosol fragrance within the same range, and I have found it on the whole to be very effective at keeping me dry and smelling sweet. My aerosol was a 250ml one and these usually retail at just over the £2 mark, with Tesco or Asda frequently having 2 for £4 offers.
On the reverse of this sure deodorant it claims that 'you cannot buy a more effective anti -perspirant aerosol for women'. It also claims to work in sync with your body, offering long lasting protections against wetness and odour, as well as giving a light fragrance. The product is alcohol free, ph balanced and dermatologically tested.
Behind the actual spray on the deodorant is a lock system, where you can move a button across to stop the aerosol being accidently sprayed whilst in your bag for example, which I think is a good addition to the product.
This product has aloe vera in it, and I have to admit that I do like the light clean fragrance that you get when you spray.
I usually find that when I spray the product for the first few times, it usually ends up leaving white marks on my clothes, which can be washed off, but still a nuisance when you're heading to work in the morning. However, after a few uses, the problem seems to go away.
All in all, I have found this sure deodorant to be one of the better ones on the market. For the last few months of me using it, I have felt dry and clean, and didn't feel I had to keep checking to see whether any odours where developing as soon as I started to get warm.
I have however noticed that over this past week, with the hot weather, my underarms feeling stickier and on occasion not as fresh and clean smelling as I would have liked. I am not sure whether this then upholds my theory that I need to change deodorants readily to keep them effective, or whether with this hot weather, stickiness was simply unavoidable. I will continue to use this spray for a little longer, but it is definitely one of the better anti perspirants on the market, that I have found so far. So I would recommend it.
