As I write this, the weather is getter hotter and more humid and most people are probably using a bit more deodorant than usual! I always balk at paying a couple of quid for a branded deodorant and wondered if it was necessary. I gave the Tesco Value one a try just to see if it was as effective or if it would be a waste of money and I''d just have to buy an expensive one as well anyway. I was pleasantly surprised! Just to clarify, the name of the product has changed in line with the rest of the ''Value'' brand and is now labelled as ''Everyday Value'' and the packaging is plain green on white rather than the old familiar red and blue. The product is the same though and is still only about 40p for a can. The deodorant has no real scent, its not something you''ll be able to notice as you go about your day but equally its not the harsh chemical smell that you get with some cheaper aerosols, its just neutral. When spraying it, you don''t get that horrible harsh smell in the air that irritates the back of your throat either, you don''t have to hold your breath while you''re applying this! In terms of effectiveness, I''ve found it pretty good. The only thing that performs a bit better is a Mitchum deodorant but that can leave marks on lighter coloured clothes and is really pricey. This Tesco Value version leaves me feeling pretty fresh and not worrying about sweat patches unless I''m doing something really physical or its really really hot! I have noticed that I have to use a bit more than I normally would to feel fully protected. I''m not sure if that''s something to do with the design of the aerosol can as it seems to come out a bit ''thinner'' than others. I do get through the cans fairly quickly. I probably use 2-3 in the amount of time that I''d use 1-2 ''normal'' cans of the same size. However, because of the great price saving, that still works out cheaper and I tend to just buy two at once.
==TESCO Everyday Value Anti - Perspirant Deodorant==
These days there are many brands of deodorants available on the shelves these days, many are expensive, too. Brands such as Sure, Nivea, Vaseline, Garnier & Radox charge a fortune (in my opinion) for such brands that have as little as 150ml in the can! The prices on such items are gargantuous but we still pay the price, as we all want to use a good deodorant that keeps the sweat away, as well as keeping us fresh without that cheap tacky powdery smell! Of course, another reason why pay for deodorant is, that we all don't like the white powder that cheap deodorants leave us powdered (sorry for the pun) in!
Well, the only reason i've never bought this before, is because l was always told that you get what you pay for! I've always been told that cheapo deodorants have a cheap price tag, but it has a nasty smell, that sticks at the back of your throat, they don't work & that they leave that nasty white powder under your underarms, which irritates you throughout the day! However, with this, it's not the case.
In TESCO, you will find this anti - perspirant deodorant aerosol with the Ladies' deodorants, but, this product is unisex as otherwise it would come in a Mens' too. It is sat at the end of the shelf in my local store, next to the other female TESCO deodroants. The design of the can blends in well with other deodroants, & comes in a 200ml can. For this amount, it is price at 41p, less than half price of the other TESCO deodorants! To be honest, l had no particular reason of buying this, l was feeling down after a particularly not - the - best kind of day at school & plus, the weather has not been great, so l just felt like cheering myself up, & l only cheer myself up by buying things like this, which is why l mostly buy own branded products! And for 41p a can, you couldn't go far wrong!
In use, l couldn't tell the difference between using this against LYNX Sensitive DRY Anti - Perspirant, which is good as TESCO sell LYNX DRY for £3.02 a can! You don't even need to give the can as heavy a shake as you might think, just a light shake then it is ready for use. When the push button is pressed, a pressurised mist sprays out, spraying on to the skin & leaving behind nothing but freshened skin that has a nice scent to it. Now the second thing, the smell. I did expect this to have a cheap smell, similar to the TESCO Value Hairspray that I once used! But no, it has a nice, powdery scent, very similar to Anne French Deep Cleansing Milk, but not that powderish!
Now for the last thing, the staying power! Well, for 10 out of 10, I would give this a definate 10! At the end of the day, you can feel that there is no sweat on your skin, & add to that that yesterday we did running in P.E. aswell as the general run. Also, you can smell the light, fresh smell throughout the day. Another thing I use this product for, is as a foot freshener. It does very well, & it works if you buy a can just to try out, & it ends up that you don't like it, but it does work well as a foot freshener. It instantly refreshes feet, & dosen't make them slippery, which is a good point!
All in all, I will continue to buy this deodorant, as long as TESCO continue to sell it, really! Well for 41p, it works well, smells great, dosen't leave a powdery residue on skin & also works well as a foot freshener, meaning it's much cheaper than most foot fresheners out there! But, if you want to save money, whether your a Female or a Male, then this is worth trying next time your in TESCO!
Thanks for Reading!
Price: The product was only 41p for 200ml.
Why buy it: It's cheap, so if you're on a low budget it can work.
Would I purchase it again: Only if I had another cut back.
Does it work: If you're not athletic and looking for basic coverage yes.
Brief Description-I bought this product because I was on a major money cut back and I had just ran out of deodorant. Not wanting to smell I went off to the shops and found this product. The product was only 41p for 200ml so I thought it would be a great value! It comes in a can as the picture shows with a spray nozzle. I have used this product for about two weeks now and so far I have had no experience with the nozzle getting stuck, but the description on the can states that if it does you can easily take it off and clean the nozzle. When purchasing the product I had a look at the ingredients, but could not find the typical ones found in other deodorants or anything about it stopping perspiration that was right up front. I will admit this made me a little bit nervous. The deodorant has a light "fresh" smell to it that is quite unique, but does not stand out ( I would say this is a good thing because I do not want to smell like fresh laundry all day!)
Using the product-When using the product, I feel that if you use the product as described you should not encounter a lot of problems that the other reviewers said they have. It says to hold the can 15cm from your body. I did this and sprayed only one or two light sprays and I feel that it went out quite light and did not feel sticky on my body. You do not need to use much and an excessive amount will take a long time to dry. The product does take a a couple of minutes to dry when only using a small amount, but can easy be fixed by changing your schedule; spray yourself and go do something else until it dries to put your shirt on.
Effectiveness of the product- As I said I bought this product as a last minute budget option. The weather had been pretty cool so you can expect my scared reaction when the next day it was 27c! I thought I would give it a go and found the product did hold up pretty well. Sorry for this information, but I do tend to sweat quite a bit! I used to use the clinical strength deodorant in the summer because I would often find myself with stains on my shirts from sweating. Therefore this product working as good as it did was quite a shock! An example: The other day I was wearing a white sweater cover which was rather tight around my underarms. I was also grilling and around heat and it was around 25c out. I noticed that throughout it all (I was paranoid) I was left feeling quite dry and did not notice any visible wet spots on my underarms. One problem did occur with this product, I often work out (thank goodness in my own home) and found myself starting to smell. I know working out you typically expect to sweat and smell, but this was pretty bad and I felt the deodorant did not do a good job in helping me to at least smell somewhat decent! I am just glad I work out in my own home to spare anybody that!
If you're on a budget and you're not athletic this is a great product. However, if you find yourself on the go constantly throughout the day (like most of us) and find yourself running around between offices or doing errands you might want to invest in a better anti-perspirant or consider keeping this in your bag to reapply it. I typically do not need to reapply and find myself okay with one use a day! Also if you're not prepared to worry, just invest in a better product. I often find myself checking as I am quite sceptical.
I would recommend this to a friend if they were going through money problems. However, I would not tell them to try this product if the subject did not come up.
I use a deodorant every day, I do not tend to sweat a lot but I like to know that I feel nice and fresh during the day and especially in the summer months when the weather is much hotter. I do prefer branded deodorants because I always think they are going to keep me much drier. I bought this one because I am trying to save a little money.
It comes housed in a tall can with a removable lid, it has a press down nozzle and for a 200ml can it cost only 40p so very cheap indeed for a deodorant but worth a try for the price. The can is very basic in the colours of the cheap Tesco products.
On using the product for the very first time I thought it was a little too heavy a spray to what I am used to using. I found the spray was too direct on the skin and not a lighter one. I found once it hit my skin, it felt very wet, it did take some time to dry under my arms and I found I could not put my shirts on in a couple of minutes as I can with other brands. This one takes around 3 minutes to completely dry and it irritated me the first time I used it and I was not happy with the product but I could not complain too much because it was only bought for 40p and so I did not expect too many good results to be honest.
Once it had dried completely I found that it did not have a lasting effect to keep me dry, I found I did have to keep topping up during the day and it was something that I found quite annoying. I did use the complete can because I did not want to waste it because although it is cheap it did keep me dry for a couple of hours of so and so it was worth still using the can and not throwing it away in the recycle bin.
It does have a slight fragrance to it but not one that is strong, it just has a hint of perfume and one that I would say is one that would suit a male and female with this one. The smell does not last at all and is gone in a few minutes I found. The nozzle is very easy to press down and I also found the spray dripped a little from the can of which I also found annoying.
It also felt a little tacky on my skin for awhile after it had dried on my skin. I had no irritations on my skin. I would not really recommend this deodorant if you like a lasting dry skin and a lasting smell on the skin. I would certainly not buy this one again because it was not suitable for me at all. It is not good value for money or good quality and I think it not one that is suitable for anyone looking for a cheaper brand as I think this one is not good for anyone in a rush in the mornings etc.
The can is also recyclable.
I rate this one only 2 stars.
Last time I was in Tesco's I was wandering down the body care aisle when I saw just what I needed , something to de whiff the family for a paltry sum. As I picked up the distinctive value item to slap it in my trolly a lady asked me dubiously if it really worked. The best I could muster was 'it does the job', although I was not entirely convinced of my own words. Noticeable she did not put her Sure back on the shelf.
I've recently started a new job and hadn't been able to afford pit spray for a while, so was finding under arm wetness rather a problem, so I was happy to see such a bargain priced item to help remedy this. The affect of the antiperspirant and deodorising qualities are adequate and there's nothing over powering about the aroma, it's not strongly perfumed but smells fresh. I seems to last all day and I don't experience the skin irritation caused by the more expensive brands, especially the ones marked for sensitive skin, which for me seems to be a misnomer in that it does make my skin extremely sensitive and irritated. So none of that with this cheap little beauty.
The spray never clogs, though should it fail to 'operate' it can be removed and rinsed which should solve the problem, it is quite ergonomic to use. The button being quite wide, concave and ridged so your finger sits quite comfortable on it. The spread of the spray is similar to other like products, giving decent coverage in one burst without getting it into your face too much.
I can't really say how this product fares under strenuous physical exercise because I'm a bit of a sofa jockey. However I suspect it wouldn't fare well under these conditions, as I have an office job, and am not very physically active, yet the wetness can break through by the end of the day. The deodorising effect though does keep on working. I've not noticed any staining of my shirts while using this, and no white marks on my black shirts.
The can comes in the distinctive Tesco value brand livery of white, blue and red with a delicate white feather as decoration. The date stamp on the bottom tells me that should I wish to stockpile just in case of a sweat inducing natural disaster which I have to hole up for that it will last for 5 years!
The can contains 200mls and has gone up fairly recently to 41p, I've noticed that a lot of items everywhere are doubling in price. If we have any sense we'll abandon this rip off country and go settle somewhere else just for spite.
We are on a major economy drive at the moment have been trying out a lot of value products from various supermarkets the latest of these is Tesco's Value antiperspirant deodorant (spray). It costs 41p and comes in a 200ml aerosol which is - quote 'widely recycled'. The can is in line with most value products quit minimalist in design, white lid with a nice soft blue front aspect picturing a white feather, which I'm guessing is meant to signify that it is gentle amongst other things. The can displays the Tesco Value logo, and what the product is. On the back is the usual information about use - Spray on pits from about 15cm, don't sniff it, don't try and set fire to it because it will certainly go 'boom' and if the spray doesn't work, remove and wash the button, replace and try again.
My experience of the product is mixed. The smell is quite pleasant for an antiperspirant, nothing fancy, the can states lightly fragranced but I can't make out what the fragrance is. It is subtle and very slightly chemical, and doesn't make me sneeze, which is a big plus point because most aerosol antiperspirant/deodorants do. I also don't get any itchiness with this antiperspirant which I do sometimes get with other brands.
The spray function works well, the button is large and fits to the finger perfectly. It depresses smoothly - no wobbling as you can get with some smaller (button) spray heads, and the spray is powerful, constant with a good even width of dispersion. One good squirt from the right distance should cover the area of an armpit in one go, unlike some which you have to wave about under there.
The product is dry pretty much on contact with skin, as an aerosol should be, this is why I use spray deodorants, as I don't like the sticky dry down period of roll ons. However whilst the deodorant capacity of this product is ok, there have been a few occasions when , come the end of a busy day I've thought 'mmm , yes I don't just want that shower I *need* it', which I don't normally get with something like Sure. This isn't a problem for light everyday wear and I wouldn't expect quite the same performance from such a budget brand. However I wouldn't use this if I was going out or doing something stressful like sitting an exam, I fear I would be whiffy in no time.
The thing that I'm not very happy with is the antiperspirant properties of this product. I don't perspire particularly heavily; I would say I'm about average in that department. However literally within an hour or two of putting this on I'm sticky under the arms. Which isn't good if you do anything which involves raising your arms, like writing on a white board, calling a cab, hanging on a bus strap and so on. If you are sticky then the perspiration has obviously broken through and it won't be long before it starts to smell stale.
I tend to wear cami/vest tops with an over blouse, so I don't really have clothing tight into my armpit to comment on whether the product mixed with perspiration causes any discolouration to fabric over time. However I wear a lot of black and have not noticed any white marks on my clothes when using this. In fact out of curiosity literally as I was writing this I gave a concentrated squirt to my top to check that out, and on a normal quick squirt there is no whiteness at all. If I hold the spray just a few inches from the fabric and hold the button down for a for a second or so there is a small white circle, but this dissipates like frost in sun, and any very faint shadow of white is easily brushed away.
All in all I would buy this again just for days when I want simply potter and stay fresh whilst doing so. However I wouldn't use this on days when I have a heavy workload, or day of rushing about, and I certainly wouldn't use it on a social occasion. So all in all a bit like the curates egg, good in parts. No whiteness, a smoothly functioning spray, pleasant smell, but falls down on its main function of keeping you dry and smelling sweet.
After reading a review on here for Tesco Value Deodorant I decided to give it a try. Now I'm sometimes funny with deodorant, they can make my skin red and sore so I wasn't too confident about it but at just 30p for a 50ml roll on bottle I didn't have a lot to lose.
The deodorant I tried came in the standard roll on style plastic bottle with a screw top lid. It has the regular label with the Tesco Value logo and the word deodorant on it. On the back of the bottle is a pull off label with instructions for use and the usual warnings. For example don't use on broken skin and keep out of the reach of children. This is so small though I had to use a magnifying glass to actually read it!
Tesco claim this deodorant has a "light fragrance for everyday protection" When you smell it in the bottle it certainly has a fragrance, not an overly nice one though, it's very chemically.
When I applied the deodorant it rolled on very nicely, the actual product it quite runny, not enough to actually "run" but it did seem more liquid than other deodorants. The smell was instantly chemical but it wore off almost straight away. I was very pleased about this as I hate anything to interfere with my perfume.
You need to leave getting dressed for a minuet or two to let the deodorant dry. Not one for if you are in a hurry.
I wore the deodorant all day at work and I reamianed perfectly fresh and dry through out. I have also worn this deodorant to go to the gym and it worked perfectly well for me there too. I must say I'm not really a very sweaty person generally but I think I gave the Tesco Value deodorant a good trial while exercising.
The only down side to this product are the white marks it leaves on your clothes. I definatly wouldn't use this when I'm wearing really nice clothes.
This is a shame because other than this the Value Deodorant is a bargain price and worked really well for me and most surprisingly of all it didn't make my skin red or sore at all.
This review refers to the ball type deodorant offered by Tesco in their value range.
These days we are all so much more aware of evey aspect of our appearance than we would have been as little as twenty years ago. The over-importance of how we look and appear to all those around us has been drummed into us by the media and the world of stardom.
This goes right from the expensive top end. i.e. the boob job and teeth whitening, down to simple things like keeping clean and smelling good, or at its simplest, not smelling at all.
This notion of being over-aware of all aspects of our appearance has been jumped upon by advertisers and manufacturers who, through the media, subtly make us feel inferior if we don't keep up. The end result is that we spend a pretty penny every year on grooming and personal hygiene products.
Whilst out on a food shop recently, the thought came into my mind "must get some deodorant" I don't have a normal brand of deodorant as such, so tend to look for something decent at a reasonable price.
I spied this "Tesco Value Anti-Deodorant" for only 30 pence and thought "hmmm... I will give it a go anyway"
Right, really there is not much you can say about a deodorant. This is of the ball type variety, so you give the bottle a little shake to coat the underside of the ball, then proceed to roll the deodorant liquid into your oxters. Then forget about it for the rest of the day!
This product has no discernible smell, except perhaps a slight tinge of alcohol. Some people may like this. I do as it doesn't interfere with any other expensive scent I might be wearing. It doesn't roll on sticky or leave you feeling sticky. For me it left no marks on my clothing, though to be fair I do let it dry in before I put my shirt/t-shirt on.
All the while I have been using this I have noticed no armpit-pong, or even the slightest niff, even after any strenuous work or exercise.
This, to me, is a bargain at 30 pence for 50ml.
Because of the credit crunch I have decided that I need to try and save a few pennies wherever possible!
This product varies slightly to the picture above because the band which displays that it is an "anti-prespirant deodorant" is now blue instead of red.
This is 200ml and I paid 49p for this from my local Tesco superstore.
The can has a plastic lid and a spray nozzle which helps to target the specific area on which you want the deodorant.
The bottle contains several different languages which is a bonus for any visitors to the UK who are looking for a cheap product.
For 49p I think that this is a right bargain, the smell is not to overpowering and I was pleasantly surprised by it, it smells kind of like soap and has a bit of a perfume smell to it.
It did leave some white marks if you dressed quickly so my advice would be to apply the product, wait a few moments before you put on your top and make sure that you shake well before use to help try and prevent this problem.
The cap would be recyclable as this is made from plastic but I do not think that the actual aerosol itself can be recycled and this must be kept away from naked flames because it is highly flammable.
I would definitely recommend this product, especially if you are on a budget as for 49p you really can't go wrong!
I would be a bit embarassed to be seen out in public using this product (at the gym etc) and it is kept stored away in my bathroom cabinet for when guests call round.
Tesco Value Anti-Perspirant
Tesco, who are one of the largest supermarkets in the U.K have a buget range named Tesco Value. This range is packaged in white blue and red colours and always diaplays blue and white stripes. The value products are very easily identifibale due to the packaging. The Value range covers lots of products from Printer paper to chicken nuggets.
The anti perspirant is available in a normal style deodorant can with the value colours on the front. It has a removable lid and button spray that works very effectively. The spray is long and quite powerful. The can costs just 49p and is available in almost all Tesco stores.
My main concern when purchasing the deodorant was what it would smell like. It smells absolutley fine. It smells fresh and clean and very subtle. I found it to be an effective deoderant. I do not really have underarm sweat due to other products that I use so I am unsure how effective it would be on a sweatier person. Overall I found it to be perfectly adequete.
My only concern with this product is what I call snob value. I would not like anyone to see this in my bathroom or gym bag so I would generally only buy it in an emergency.
Overall this is a good basic anti perspirant at a very cheap price
