White Musk by The Body Shop is one of my favourites and something that I have used on and off for years but it is something that I only wear occasionally when I am in the mood for something a bit heavier and more musky than what I would normally wear.
I love all the White Musk products except this one which I just don’t think is as high a quality as the rest of the range.
It costs £4 for a tiny 50ml bottle which is quite expensive but expected as matching products usually cost more and when I bought it I didn’t mind because I usually love anything from the Body Shop.
It is a roll on and you have to shake the bottle quite a bit to get the liquid through the ball. When you apply this it is rather wet and takes quite a while to dry and even when it has dried it feels a bit sticky for ages and ages.
It is ok as a deodorant but it isn’t very long lasting and it also doesn’t give that much protection. It is an antiperspirant but don’t expect this to keep you dry if you sweat a lot as it won’t. I wouldn’t wear this going somewhere I knew that I would sweat because I would be paranoid that I would get sweat patches really quickly.
The thing about this that disappointed me the most however was the smell of it. It just doesn’t smell anywhere near as nice as the rest of the products. White Musk is so fragrant and everything else in the range smells gorgeous but the musk in this is very faint and it has more of an alcohol smell than anything else.
I bought it so that I could just enjoy the fragrance of White Musk for even longer when I wore it but I didn’t think it was anywhere near as good as the rest of the products and not as highly fragranced and it wasn’t even that good of a deodorant so I certainly won’t be buying it again.
This particular deodorant seems to have a bit of a bad reputation here on dooyoo but I have to say I can't understand what people seem to have against it as I think it is rather good personally.
It isn't the best deodorant in the world but most people buying this will not be buying it to keep them ultra-dry but because it goes with the rest of the white musk range.
It is a roll on and it does come out quite wet but it dries on my underarms really quickly. It also doesn't sting them after shaving and overall feels quite gentle and soothing. It does keep me feeling fresh for a long time and it actually does keep me dry too.
I have used better deodorants that keep me drier and fresher for longer but then again they haven't had the gorgeous fragrance of white musk to them. The fragrance in this is slightly different to the other products in the range and doesn't smell quite the same which I assume is something to do with having to add other ingredients but it is still unmistakably white musk.
It smells lovely and it goes really well with the other products in the range. I think it is quite strong smelling too so you could easily use this on its own without using the perfume or other products. Because the smell is slightly different I also think that this can be worn when wearing other perfumes too as it seems to go well with a lot of other different scents without overpowering them.
I use this on its own and with the others in the range. I am more likely to use it with the other products however as I want to make the smell last longer and layer it so that it smells stronger and this in combination with them does that really well.
It costs £4 which is a lot for a roll on deodorant as I can usually get them for £1 but on the other hand deodorants that are designed to complement designer perfumes can cost a fortune so I personally don't think this is priced too expensive.
Having been given the usual load of Body Shop stuff for Christmas I found myself instore trying desperately to find more practical things that I can actually use- rather than a loofah and expensive flannels, to swop it all for. Being in there an age with my poor sister I grabbed an antiperspirant roll- on which just happened to be Musk. The cost on their website at the moment is £4, quite expensive for a deodorant and only 50ml at that.
The roll-on is simply packaged, white slightly pearlescent with purple wording. It's an antiperspirant deodorant so should keep you dry and smelling fresh. It has a matching screw lid and nice free moving ball. The ingredients are many and chemical sounding including Alcohol.
On opening I gave it a shake to get the liquid onto the ball then applied to my under arms. It's thick, white and coats my skin well, but does seem to stay feeling wet for a good few minutes. It drys clear though and doesn't stain my clothes. Also it isn't powdery once dried which is good as I hate talcy deodorants. The smell isn't particularly musky more like an alcohol smell not very pleasant, but as long as it works I'm not that fussed. It doesn't irritate my skin in any way unlike some deodorants which make me itch like mad.
Does it work?
Yes I think it does, it seems to last the whole day. If hot I do have a freshen up roll but it's not really necessary. The roll lasted ages but no longer than cheaper roll-ons which can be only a pound, so price wise it's not very good. Smell wise it's not the best but even so I do like it but wouldn't pay full price for it.
Would I recommend it?
Maybe but it is expensive- though I would use it again. I'm knocking a star off for the smell and another for the price but it does work so three stars from me because it seems to keep body odour in check.
The Body Shop White Musk Anti-Perspirant Deodorant 50mls.
I love Body Shop products and especially the fact that they do not test on animals.
I really like the White Must scent and decided to buy this for a special treat as I usually use Dove Go Fresh Roll On.
This item cost around £6 for 50mls. I duly bought it and then prodeded to try it. I was really quite shocked - the smell when you open this deodorant is quite nasty and there is not much of the White Musk Scent. There is a strong chemical smell.
I have used this a few times now and I have decided to discontinue using it and go back to my Dove Go Fresh. There is not much White Musk Scent and as I said before the chemical smell is quite nasty. From the deodorant point of view it works well but I am not comfortable with the chemical smell so I would not recommend this product.
It is also very expensive for a deodorant considering other roll ons cost around £1.50 to £2.
All in all I was very disapointed especially about wasting £6 on this item.
I can't even remember how I came to own this product but that doesn't matter anyway does it. I like The Body Shops White Musk and when I wear it I tend to use the EDT and body lotion together to prolong the scent as much as possible as it is not the best when it comes to lasting all day. I thought that by wearing this I might be able to get more longevity to my fragrance.
This comes in your average roller ball deodorant packaging, it is white but with a purple sheen to it and purple writing on it. It stands at 11cm tall so is average in size and contains 50ml. This costs £5.00, quite a bit more than most standard deodorants.
Due to it's high cost, I had high hopes!
The second I opened this I was very disappointed as it has only a little of the White Musk scent which is completely overpowered by the stench of alcohol! I find the scent rather offensive, it smells like you should drink it rather than apply it to your skin.
The roller ball works quite well, doesn't get to messy and gives a good even application.
It takes quite a while to dry and even when it does the smell of alcohol is the main one!
By the end of the day I didn't stink but I didn't feel as fresh as I do with Sanex deodorant. If anything I think my crystal deodorant is slightly more effective than this when the temperature is low as it was when I used this.
I have to call this an utter waste of a fiver! It is nothing more than a rip off and I would advise against buying it!
The Body Shop does a range of products in the White Musk scent, not all are a disaster like the Anti-perspirant.
The Body Shop is involved with many charities and foundations, information on these can be found through links on their website. None of their products are tested on animals. They also run their own version of fair trade, which they call community trade, they pay fair prices to farmers of the ingredients they buy. Details of their community trade programme can also be found on their website.
The website is very user friendly and means not only can you buy online (good P&P charges and fast delivery) but you can also find out more about their products and find out where your local store is situated.
A refreshing deoderant that is quick drying, but long-lasting /
