Vaseline Intensive Care Active Fresh Antiperspirant Deodorant
I tend to change my deodorants quite a lot depending on what is on offer in the supermarket - of course I have my favourites and one's that I know to avoid. This Vaseline Active Fresh deodorant is one that I will buy time and time again.
Vaseline is most commonly recognised for their wonderful tins of lip balm that every handbag seems to stock. They also make a lot of beauty products such as skin creams, face washes and deodorants. They are a popular and trusted brand.
Active Fresh Antiperspirant Deodorant
The deodorant comes in a large, thin tube like bottle, with a spray lid at the top of the bottle which releases the deodorant and a cap to keep it from spraying accidentally. The tin is an all over white colour with the Vaseline branding in blue across the front of the bottle and some easy to read product information. The back of the bottle has more info and the ingredients list. It is not the most exciting packaging I have ever seen, but simple and to the point.
You use this antiperspirant deodorant like any other, simply spray on when you feel that you need to freshen up a bit - after showering or waking up in the morning/afternoon. You spray the can from approximately 20 cm away from your underarms and for a few seconds so that you get a good coverage over the area. This does not leave much white mark residue on your skin and when dry none at all, so your clothes are safe.
The deodorant has a nice fresh smell to it both when spraying directly and also throughout the day. I can't trance any particular fragrances or aromas, it is just a refreshing and clean smell, exactly what I want from an antiperspirant deodorant. The staying power and protection from this Vaseline deodorant is really, really good compared to others that I have used. Even after brisk walking I still feel fresh and clean.
This product also contains Vaseline ProDermaTM, which is a unique blend of skin-caring ingredients, which mimics the skin's own protection layer. I don't usually have reactions to any deodorants, but for those that do this is helpful information to know.
I really like this antiperspirant deodorant, it does a really good job of keeping me smelling fresh and nice during the day. It is also a good price - costing £1.80 at full price for a 150 ml bottle and often on special offers of £1. Great stuff.
I recently ran out of my current deodorant so when I did my weekly shop I had a quick look to see what they had on offer. I decided to give Vaseline Active Fresh 24h Protection deodorant a try, I have tried Vaseline products in the past and have always been impressed with them so I hoped that this would be no different. I do find that some deodorants can irritate and burn the skin under my arms so I do have to be careful what I purchase, this one contains 0% alcohol so I hoped that it was going to be ok and suit my skin, it wasn't expensive so if I didn't get on with it I hadn't wasted too much money.
The Vaseline Active Fresh deodorant comes in a rounded plastic bottle, the bottom of the bottle is the widest part and it narrows towards the top into a rounded point. The base of the bottle is flat allowing you to stand it up meaning that none of the product is wasted, the base also doubles up as the lid, this is made from a slightly transparent blue plastic and simply screws on and off of the bottle. The lid takes up about a quarter of the bottle, the rest is covered with a clear plastic label, the label on the front of the bottle has the Vaseline logo at the top of it with the words "Active Fresh 24hr Protection" written underneath in dark blue writing. The words "anti-persperant deodorant" are also written underneath in mint green coloured writing, this is repeated in a second language and also has a picture of a white clock within a mint green rectangle shape. There is no other information on the front of the bottle, the rest of the product information can be found on the back of the bottle, the ingredients appear on a white plastic label in blue writing, this is a peelable label and on the second layer you can find the product warnings, again written in blue writing. There is not a huge amount of information on the back of the bottle but it does tell you the majority of what you need to know, and it is clearly written and set out.
The Vaseline Active Fresh Deodorant is the same consistency of most deodorants and when you shake the bottle it sounds like a thick liquid, it is clear in colour, this can be seen as you roll the roller ball on the end of the bottle. To be honest when I purchase a new deodorant I do not really think of the fragrance of it, as long as it smells reasonable and keeps me smelling fresh throughout the day I'm not too worried, the Vaseline Active Fresh deodorant actually has a really nice fragrance to it, it is quite floral, the fragrance is quite strong but not over the top, to be honest there's no point in a deodorant having such a light smell that you can hardly detect it but on the other hand I do not want a fragrance that is so strong it over powers any other fragrance am wearing such as my perfume. Personally I found that the fragrance of this this particular deodorant was just right, it was strong enough to keep me smelling fresh throughout the day but it didn't dominate or overpower my perfume.
As well as the fragrance the next important factor for me with a deodorant is how quickly it dries, obviously with a roller ball deodorant it does not dry instantly, however there is nothing worse than a deodorant that takes so long to dry that you are standing there waiting to get dressed. When I first applied the deodorant to my under arms it was not sticky at all, my skin felt a bit damp for a few minutes but I did notice that it dried pretty quickly, for me this was perfect as it meant I could apply the deodorant a couple of minutes before I get dressed and know that it is going to be dried in time. Once dried the Vaseline Active Fresh felt and smelt extremely fresh, I wear this deodorant every morning whether I am going to work or to the gym and so far I have found that Vaseline Active Fresh really does work, the deodorant keeps me feeling and smelling clean and fresh all day, even after an hour at the gym my under arms still felt and smelt fresh. I can apply this deodorant in the morning and be confident that it will keep me fresh throughout the whole day no matter how busy I am.

I purchased my 50ml bottle of deodorant from Tesco and it cost me just £1.00 reduced from £1.53, the bottle is proving to be long lasting and the fact that I do not need to keep reapplying it throughout the day also helps the bottle to last longer. I do think that Vaseline Active Fresh is very good value for money especially as it actually works as does what it says it will.
I would certainly recommend Vaseline Active Fresh deodorant, the deodorant has a lovely fragrance to it which is not over powering, the large roller ball applies the deodorant smoothly and to the whole of your under arms. I was pleased to discover that the deodorant did not irritate my skin in any way and the fact that it contains no alcohol has helped with this. For me the deodorant really did work and kept me feeling and smelling fresh all day even after a workout at the gym. The deodorant was very good value for money and so far is proving to be long lasting. As for 24 hours, I wouldnt have a clue as I never go that long without washing but I would certainly purchase Vaseline Active Fresh in the future and would recommend it to anyone.
I often change the deodorants I use and to be honest this will usually depend on if I see Deodorants on special offer. Actually I frequently see this both in Supermarkets and at Pharmacy's particularly Superdrug. I recently spotted this at Asda and I do not recall it being on special offer but it was only priced at £1.00 for a 150ml bottle. I think this is a good price for a good deodorant. I have noticed that it still costs a £1.00 at Asda and was astonished to see that it is getting close to double that in another well known supermarket! Therefore, if you do decide you want this at the moment I must recommend you buy it at Asda.
The scent of this deodorant is very light and very soft and its fragrance is like Vaseline. It isn't really perfumy at all; it's just lovely and refreshing. It also works! It sates on the bottle that it has 24 hour protection. I use it once in the morning and have not felt the need to use it again; it really does keep you dry.

I bought this deoderant from Tesco during my weekly shop becaue I wanted to try something different.Vaseline is a tried and tested, trusted brand so I thought this was worth a go.
It cost around £1 for a 150ml spray can, but I believe it is also available in larger cans of 250ml.
It contains 0% alcohol and claims to keep you fresh & dry for 24 hours, witha non sting formula even after shaving, and fresh, light fragrance. But does it live up to these claims?
My first impressions upon using it were pretty negative.
First off, I really don't like the smell. I don't know what it is about it, but I find it really overwhelming. It took a long time for the smell to go away in the room where I'd sprayed it, and I could taste it in my mouth which was really unpleasant. It has quite a chalky/powdery quality to the spray which I found choked me a bit.
However, it lived up to its claims of not stinging as it didn't cause me any irritation, and I have quite sensitive skin.
As a deoderant/antipersperant it was actually quite effective, though I'm not sure about the 24 hour claim. I think the 'thick, chalky' quality to it is what makes it effective, even though I didn't like it. It did keep my underarms quite dry and as far as I know, I didn't smell!
It did leave quite bad tell-tale white marks on my clothes though, so I would be careful when using it.
Overall, it was effective but I didn't really like it and I wouldn't purchase it again as I prefer other brands.
There's nothing worse than sitting/ standing next to someone with sweaty armpits so I've always made sure that we've had good deodorants to hand in the bathroom!
I've used loads of different ones over the years including roll-ons but I have to say I do prefer a good spray as they seem less sticky and easier to use. It's still a problem though sometimes as some sprays I've used either haven't been effective, I've become immune or they've left those dreaded white powdery bits all over the bathroom. However, I bought some of this Vaseline Active Fresh a couple of months ago and was very pleased with it.
The aerosol can is 250ml and cost £1.38 in Boots. The can itself isn't the most attractive but hey you can't have everything can you?! The reason I bought it was the information given -
- suitable for sensitive skin
- dermatologically tested
24 hour protection
- contains proderma which can help protect the underam skin.
As with all spray deodorants you just shake the can and spray in short bursts about 15cm away from the armpits. The spray is very well designed as there's a slight indentation which means the finger can find it easily even with wet hands.
My daughters and I are quite impressed with this product as it does the job, doesn't sting nor are we left with white bits. We've found that the antiperspirant lasts all day without the need to 'top up'.
The smell is rather soapy, very slightly floral and nice and light (unlike some) and doesn't interfere with body sprays or any perfume we might be wearing.
I have to say , from our experience, that Vaseline have come up with a good product here and I'll definitely be buying this again as it ticks all the boxes and I'd suggest it is well worth giving it a try if you are looking to change your present deodorant.
So after my disastrous experience with the Palmolive antiperspirant (it's not even worthy of being called a deodorant it's so useless, let alone an antiperspirant), I decided to pick up something better.
I was in a rush at the supermarket, and as this bottle looks almost identical to the Nivea deodorant - blue cap, white bottle, same shape - I didn't notice that I'd picked up the Vaseline one. Oops!
Oh well, I thought. Vaseline is a trusted brand and they make other great products, so I'll try it before I buy my Nivea.
The Vaseline deodorant is simply packaged, as I mentioned, and it's nothing special. However, it doesn't need to be - perhaps all deodorants with overly complicated designs, like Palmolive, are making up for what they don't deliver in performance?! The bottle states that it's a 24 hour antiperspirant, though I was sceptical of this based on my Palmolive experience. However, I knew that it couldn't be any worse...!
The bottle has a spray pump which does the job with very little effort, and the button is nicely rounded to fit your finger. I think that's a nice extra touch, and the bottle and spray mechanism seem very well made and of good quality - not bad considering it only cost just over £1.
The deodorant has a fresh scent, which smells slightly feminine but won't overpower any perfume or body spray, which is another point in its favour. For me the name 'Vaseline' is strongly associated with the particular smell of Vaseline - but luckily the deodorant doesn't smell like that! I always find it hard to describe smells, and whilst this one isn't particularly memorable, at least people won't know or comment on the deodorant you're wearing!
One of the biggest advantages for me is that the deodorant doesn't spray everywhere. My house is full of real wooden floors, and though I open the windows when I spray it for ventilation, it's not nice to see clouds of deodorant mixing in the air with the inevitable dust (my house isn't that dusty, but more so than carpeted houses). I don't have this problem with the Vaseline deodorant - it makes for my underarms and stays there.
So, what about the longevity? Well, I wouldn't go as far as to say it's 24 hours, but then that depends entirely on what you're doing. My deodorant usually needs to kick in when I leave the house on a weekday morning, because I'm inevitably rushing for the bus. Also, after I get off the bus I have to walk up a very steep hill. Added to that I'm often playing EA Active and other similar exercise games on the Wii when I get home. The deodorant will last more than a whole day at work, which (including travel times is) around 8:15am to 6:15pm. When I take my coat off after getting home I can still smell it. However, after an intense (and I mean intense) half hour workout on EA Active including running, lunges, squats, balancing and boxing, the deodorant will not hold up for more than about 20 minutes. So that's worth taking into consideration depending on what kind of life you lead. But since you should be washing/showering after a good workout anyway, I think it's unfair to expect it to live up to that kind of exertion.
I don't usually use spray on deodorants so when I was running low on my roll on recently and asked my boyfriend to bring me some home on his way back from work I was a bit miffed he turned up with this - surely after four years together he would have realised that I use roll on deodorants?! Never the less I decided I might as well give it a try rather than waste it by throwing it away.
The bottle is actually a lot smaller than some of the bottles you find lined up when deodorant shopping. There isn't anything that particularly makes it stand out from other leading brands, so I am not sure why my boyfriend picked this particular one out from the rest.
It is a simple white bottle with the usual Vaseline logo printed across the top. The rest of the text simply informs you that you will have 24 hour protection with this anti-perspirant deodorant.
On the back of the bottle is a list of advantages with regards to the deodorant. This includes the fact that it has been dermatologically tested and it is suitable for sensitive - which is perfect for me as I do have a problem with eczema. Whether or not my boyfriend actually looked at all this and decided it would be good for me is still a mystery, I personally think it was just a fluke!
The smell of spray on deodorants is often one of the reasons I tend to go for the roll on option, I often think the smells are just to overpowering.
However with this one I was pleasantly surprised. It is what I would describe as a light soapy smell. Whilst it is not my favourite smell, it is not unpleasant and it is not something that you can smell for the rest of the day - which to me is a huge advantage.
***Does it work?***
I don't often find spray on deodorants to be very effective throughout the day - which I guess is another reason I tend to stick to roll on options.
However after showering before work I sprayed a liberal amount onto my armpits. I was quite expecting it to sting or at least tingle as I have particularly sensitive skin on my armpits, however there was nothing. The spray is alcohol free so this explains why I felt no pain; however I was still expecting it to be slightly uncomfortable.
Something else I was concerned about was white marks. But once again I was left surprised, there was no white powder under my arms which I expected to see. I am always quite careful in putting my clothes on after applying deodorants anyway, but I was even more so when testing this as I had to put my black work shirt on.
Whilst no white marks were left I did notice a clear mark across the front of my shirt - how on earth it got there I have no idea! These marks were easily removed with a face wipe, so there were no problems on that front.
Now obviously the most important thing is did it keep me dry and sweat free? I wouldn't describe myself as a particularly sweaty person, but as I am often quite active at work I do get very worried about 'beefing up'. I was really impressed at how well this deodorant worked. For me it was tested in the perfect conditions. I work in retail and we had a really busy day at work with deliveries and new Christmas stock coming in, after five hours of being on the go I still felt and smelt very fresh.
So the conclusion would be that yes it does work. It passed the test on sensitivity and it also kept me sweat free.
***Price and Availability***
My boyfriend bought me this deodorant from Boots, at the time it was on buy one get one free at £1.38 (so it's a good job I liked it!).
I would imagine that there are other offers available in different stores etc...
Thank you for reading, this review will also appear on ciao under the same username.
I am afraid I have a confession...... I am a sweaty betty! So after this revelation you will understand that it has been my life's work to find a deodorant that not only controls sweating and wet patches, but the smell aspect too.
The product I will now review is - "Vaseline active fresh - 24hr protection"
I had never previously brought this particular brand before as it has 1, not been on offer at Asda where I do my shopping, and 2, the bottle does seem to be considerably smaller in size than a lot of the other deodorants I would normally buy.
After going to Asda last week I noticed these had been reduced down to £1.00 a bottle, so I thought I would give it a go!
The bottle is small and cylindrical in shape, and holds 150ml of spray.
The bottle is the trademark white and blue colour, with a removable blue lid with bog-standard spray nozzle beneath.
There is an extensive list of properties on the back of the bottle, these being:-
Suitable for sensitive skin,
Alcohol free, non sting formula,
Keeps you dry all day,
Light fresh fragrance,
Contains Proderma, a skin caring complex which can help protect the underarm skin.
After showering ( a good start!), I spray liberally onto my underarms. There is no stinging sensation to speak of, which is good as along with being sweaty I am incredibly hairy too, so have to shave daily....yes I don't know how I ended up married either! Lol!
There is no loose powder fro the spray, but there is a light film that did transfer slightly onto my clothes when getting dressed, though I am getting better at trying to prevent this....it means I have to roll my top on like you would a condom, but it helps!
The smell of this product is really lovely, it is fresh, light and can only be described as a linen smell, which does linger for a while and even seems to rejuvenate slightly when you body eventually warms up....remember ladies we do not perspire, we glow!
Well does it work, I have to say it does though there is a slight problem with it. I have yet to get the smell factor with this product, preventing any unfortunate odours escaping, it doesn't stop the sweating itself to any degree, but rather leaves your armpits feeling really quite sticky, and that is one sensation I can't abide the feeling off.

This is a nice enough deodorant that I loved the smell of, but I don't like the sticky feel, so back to the drawing board for me, but for less sweaty betty's this would be perfect!
Thanks for reading x
