No one likes to be a sweaty betty that's why when it comes to deodorant I tend to buy branded items as I have found that they are generally of a better quality than the cheaper alternatives. When I spotted this Vaseline roll on deodorant on offer I thought I would give it a go as Vaseline is a brand that I have used before and have found to have great products.
Key features of the deodorant:
*24 hour protection
*Skin caring ingredients
I chose this deodorant over the other products on offer because it offered to care for my under arm skin and does not contain any alcohol. There is nothing worse than the sting in your arm pit when putting deodorant on after shaving!
I am not overly fond of deodorants that have floral undertones which is why I chose this one entitled 'active fresh'.
Upon smelling the deodorant is does in fact smell very fresh and clean. It is also very subtle. After applying onto your underarms the scent seems to blend and will not over power any perfume that you are wearing, this is why I do not like floral deodorants.
When applying the deodorant initially it does feel a little bit wet as most roll on deodorants do. However almost immediately after application it seems to have absorbed into my skin and does not leave any sticky residue at all.
I have worn this deodorant doing my every day tasks as well as doing exercise. I have to say it works great in both of these scenarios. During the day I do not feel sweaty or sticky at all and it keeps my underarms nice and fresh.
When exercising I am obviously going to get a bit of a sweat on but when I am wearing this deodorant I am still kept smelling fresh.
I usually have a shower every morning and my under arms seem to still be fresh so the 24 hour protection seems to work.
I really like this deodorant as it keeps my underarms smelling and feeling fresh without being over powering and in your face. It is very kind to my skin and does not cause any irritation. Overall this is a great product from Vaseline.
I am really sensitive to certain toiletries , especially deodorants that contain Alcohol. I love this and have been using it awhile and is perfect for my sensitive skin, even after shaving. Plus it is great value for money and lasts well
When it comes to deodorants I'm not very brand loyal, though I do prefer the likes of Sure and Dove over some brands this doesn't necessarily mean I stick to these two and will often buy whatever happens to be on offer. When I came across Vaseline Active Fresh deodorant recently which was only £1 I decided to give it a go having never previously trying this particular brand.
I've always used Vaseline body products in the past, but up until recently trying their deodorants seems to have evaded me. When I saw this half it's usual selling price a few weeks ago I decided it was worth trying out as Vaseline are part of the Unilever group which is a renowned firm.
*~*Price, packaging & availability*~*
The deodorant comes housed in a sleek looking slimline can which is a 150 ml in size. The can is quite basic in design as it is predominantly white with just smatterings of blue for the logo and the lid, and all in all it gives off a very 'clean' look that reminds me of the packaging for Dove products.
Price wise as mentioned I picked this up for just £1 recently but it normally retails just under the £2 mark depending of course on where you shop. Vaseline Active Fresh can be found in most major Supermarkets, Chemists and anywhere that sells these types of products as it is a well known brand.
*~*What makes it different?*~*
*It is an anti - perspirant and contains 0% alcohol so is perfect for sensitive skin.
***Has a sting free formula
****Keeps you dry all day
It certainly talks the talk, but does it walk the walk..?
*~*My experience of using this*~*
As I don't drive I do a lot of walking, not only on the school run each day, but also back and forth carrying heavy shopping bags and general day to day chores so choosing a deodorant that works is essential. I've always preferred Sure over any of it's rivals as the saying goes 'it doesn't let you down' but if I see something new or on offer then I'm the first one to want to try it and am far from brand loyal.
I try not to spend too much on any beauty item/ toiletries as despite them being a weak point for me from a buying point of view I rarely pay full price for anything and love a bargain when I see one. Though I've seen this particular brand of deodorant in the shops for a long time I've never felt the inclination to purchase any but at just £1 I thought it was worth a try.
Once the lid is removed there is a reasonable sized nozzle and this once pressed to break the initial seal is very easy to use. The spray emits at a reasonable force and has a clear appearance when sprayed, but once it makes contact with the skin it is clear to see it has a white hue to it.
The deodorant may claim not to sting but it certainly has an icy cold feel to it that isn't exactly painful when sprayed but feels far too sharp and shocking against my underarms and I can't say I've experienced this with any other underarm deodorant before.
The fragrance is, as one would expect from the title, to be 'fresh' and also has a sporty vibe which seems to slightly emasculate it, which doesn't really score points with me because if I wanted to smell masculine then I'd simply use my husband's deodorants.
On spritzing a few short, sharp blasts of Active Fresh under each arm each morning I have found it to take forever to actually 'dry'. It seems to be one of those sprays that never fully dries and to be honest feels clammy and slightly uncomfortable all day - not like my regular Sure which dries in contact.
On doing the school run and being on the go all day I found this deodorant stopped being effective after just 2 short hours, which given the fact it's supposed to offer 24 hour protection I found this quite poor. I decided to give this the benefit of the doubt and have used it on several occasions; in a morning and after an evening bath and the results have unfortunately being the same and has left me feeling 'sweaty' and not exactly shower fresh after less than 2 hours each time which is not exactly the results I'm after when buying a deodorant as I want one that actually works for several hours before even thinking of reapplying.
I'd like to say this is a fantastic product and give it full marks, but it just scrapes by on one star I'm afraid due to the fact it was on offer.
Not one I will be buying again and I will be sticking to the likes of Sure and Dove in the future..
I have been trying to save my pennys lately so when my trusty Sure deodorant ran out I had a rummage to see what other deodorants I had lurking before going to buy more and I came across this one and a couple of others. I have a habit of loosing things and then just going to buy new ones because I can't find them which means I had almost a full bottle of this left.
The deodorant comes in roll on form which is good for me as I find spray deodorants seem to give me a rash under my arms not a good look especially in summer. The deodorant sits on its lid so the ball always has the liquid waiting on the one side until it runs out of course. The container is white with a blue lid which has a click function and the label promises 24hr protection. The deodorant has 0 alcohol content and you are advised to let it dry before you put your clothes on. I have used this deodorant straight after shaving my under arms and have had not irritation from it which is good. The fragrance of this deodorant is very neutral thre is no nice flower or fresh smell it just smells like deodorant.
So for the active test as you will know if you have read my previous reviews I am a bit of a Zumba addict I go 5 times a week to classes and also do it at home so it is fair to say I am quite active. My day job consists of looking after children I also go on a 30 min walk at lunch everyday and then a class at night. With the previous deododrant this has not been a problem and I have still felt fresh if not a bit tired at the end of the day. My clothes have also smelt of the deodorant and not sweat at the end of my class which is an hour long. However using this deodorant I found that this was not the case. Before I even got to Zumba I was feeling a bit sweaty and like I needed to reapply but for the purposes of reviews one must keep it on without reapplying as it is suppost to be 24hr protection after all anyway half way through the class I could actually smell sweat on myself which is not good especially when you are waving your arms around and makde me feel self concious of getting to close to anyone else in the class. The only way I could see the deodorant lasting 24hrs is if you were not to move for that whole period or get hot in anyway.
Today I am off to buy some more of my trusty sure deodrorant which I know won't leave me sweaty and smelly and the end of a hard day. Sadly I can only give this 2 stars and that for not irritating my underarms after showering.
I've used Vaseline Intensive Care Deodorant for years, mainly because I love the smell but also because I'm set in my ways and I can't really be bothered with the aggravation of searching for a new scent. I fear though that my affair with Vaseline maybe on its way to being over - argh.
Dooyoo don't have a picture of the active fresh version of this deodorant, so for the purposes of identification I'll tell you that it looks a lot like any other women's deodorant container - mainly white with a blue lid and the Vaseline logo towards the top. There are different fragrances in this range and this one is distinguished by a greeny blue symbol. It's a nice design - simple and inoffensive. It actually looks quite sophisticated - if that is possible from a deodorant container!
Like I said, the main reason I choose this particular brand is the smell. As the name would suggest, it smells fresh. It's light and definitely not overpowering. There is a slight smell of talcum powder to it, which I personally like and it makes it easy to wear.
It is suitable for sensitive skin and boasts an alcohol free, non sting formula. I don't have particularly sensitive skin but I can still vouch for this. I find it to be very gentle and even when I spray too close to my arm, it doesn't sting.
Vaseline Intensive Care also claims to offer 24 hour protection and to keep you dry all day and this, I fear, maybe the reason why we have to part company. Whilst I really like the smell of the deodorant, I don't think it is powerful enough to keep you smelling nice all day. I don't sweat very much, but I find that I could do with reapplying the deodorant after four or five hours, because the smell has worn off and I begin to feel a bit sticky - not nearly good enough for something that claims to offer 24 hour protection.
So whilst I would say that it does achieve some of its claims, such as having a light fresh fragrance and being suitable for sensitive skin, Vaseline Intensive Care Deodorant just doesn't have the staying power that you need from this kind of product I'm afraid, so it's only three stars from me.
I am quite a warm person and I always have this fear that when I get hot I will sweat and smell bad. That would be my worst nightmare. As I'm a bit phobic I tend to use both a roll on and an antiperspirant deodorant.
I always stick to Vaseline because I find that the skin under my arms can be very sensitive to some of the spray deodorants. Vaseline intensive care is very gentle on the skin and has a lovely fresh smell that seems to stay with you for most of the day.
A tin of this lasts me ages, although that is in conjuction with a roll on. I would say that one of these lasts me for about 6 weeks, longer in the colder months. It is easy to use and has a lovely fresh and clean smell. There are a choice of fragrances, but to be honest I don't find there's that much difference. Both work just as well and smell nice so I am happy with either.
This product costs around £1.69 for a tin now. This is around the average price of most deodorants and they are all around the same size.
I would particularly recommend this is if you get a lot of spots of sensitive skin under your arms, it is definitely the most gentle deodorant about and never stings after shaving your underarm.
I like the Vaseline range of deodorants and I hadn't tried this one before so when I saw it in Asda for £1.32 I decided to give it a go.
The deodorant comes in the usual Vaseline bullet shaped bottle. This allows the roller ball to be at the bottom and the casing stands up on the lid. This ensures that the ball is always coated with the deodorant when you need it. The main body is white and the lid is blue. The Vaseline logo has its distinctive metallic blue background and the rest of the writing are in blue and green. This deodorant contains 0% alcohol and contains skin-caring Proderma. The packaging says the deodorants will give you 24hr protection.
Directions for use:
Apply to under arms and allow to dry before dressing. Replace cap tightly after use. Do not apply to irritated or damaged skin.
I found the lid easy to twist off but once it is on the bullet tube, it is secure so you don't have to worry about the deodorant leaking everywhere. The smell reminded me of baby powder. I find that the deodorant is easy to apply and it rolls over your skin smoothly. It doesn't snag when you are putting it on. I have not had any irritation from using this product even straight after shaving. It dries quickly too and doesn't leave any white marks. I have been using it for the last week. I work hard at the stables in the morning. It was hot this morning and mucking out 2 horses was not much fun. I then had a 45min dressage lesson and found that I was still dry. I have also used it in the office which seems to go from sauna heat to arctic temperatures. I have stayed dry at work too so I will be sticking to the vaseline range of deodorants.
What is it?
It is a roll-on deodorant from the Vaseline range by Unilever. It is designed to protect your underarms from drying out or being irritated.
It says it will give you up to 24 hours protection and is alcohol free.
Its fragrance is very feminine and floral yet fresh at the same time. My usual choice of roll-on is anything from the Dove range - this comes a close second, I have not become bored of it yet and I have been using it for over four weeks.
The bottle is the same design as the Sure and Dove roll-ons that are around at the moment. It has an easy click-shut lid that takes little effort which is good if you have painful joints or weak hands, it is also large enough to rinse under the tap if you need to.
The logo is quite plain and simple like the rest of the Vaseline range - it is inoffensive but a little bit boring.
Does it work?
I have not yet been victim to body odour since using this deodorant. However, it does seem to last only 12 hours rather than the promised 24 hours; I am in the habit of using twice daily anyway so this is not a big problem for me.
I have not noticed any improvement to the condition of my underarm skin sadly - it can often get quite sensitive or dry and this has not changed. I also noticed that it advises not to use on irritated or damaged skin - as it seems to be targeted at those with problem skin, this seems to me to be a little bit misleading... plus who in their right mind would avoid using deodorant?
Usually I purchase a dove deodorant due to their high content of moisturising cream, but after my experience with their newest 'hair minimising' roll on ( you can read my review entitle 'When pigs fly...' all about it) I decided to go for something a little different. I still wanted it to be kind to my skin and with no alcohol in it but also 24H protection, so Vaseline active fresh seemed the perfect choice.
It was round £1.20 at my local boots store and it comes in a cone shaped bottle with the actual roll on facing downwards with a sky blue lid. I particularly like the bottle shape as it has a slight ridge going round it meaning I don't get deodorant on my hand when applying. Also the lid makes a distinctive click sound when it is closed properly - so no surprises of nasty leakages or it drying out. (ProDerma is written on the bottle, although I have no idea what that means, it might be relevant to some one else).
Application is easy enough, just roll it around your underarm like any other roll on. It leaves a good amount on your skin, but not too much and it dries pretty quickly, I'd say it never takes more than a minute. It has never made any marks on my clothing either which is also a bonus!
It has a minimal scent, which doesn't interfere with my perfume, but if I had to I'd describe it I'd say it was similar to a clean fresh air smell (there really isn't much of a scent to it). It has always lasted my throughout the day even if I have been doing sporty activities - so no worries if you end up running for the bus! It always left my skin feeling nice and soft too.
All in all it has been a perfect deodorant for me and I honestly didn't notice any difference between this and my regular dove brand (not the hair minimising one), so in the future I will just buy which ever is cheapest. I'd recommend this to any one who likes an unscented moisturising roll on, as it has much less fragrance to it in comparison to Dove.
When I had run out of deodorant I had sent my husband to Boots to get me some more, being the middle of summer at the time I wasn't keen to be without it, just in case.
I tend to buy the Sure range, however on this occassion my husband called me to say he could only find a few none of which were my regular brand. I tend not to use roll on as I don't like the idea of rolling using a rollerball on your arm pits only to reuse it again, I'm not sure how hygenic that really is. I instructed my husband to pick up any deodarant, I would rather have a different brand than be without. Perhaps that wasn't too clever.
So my husband brings me back the Vaseline Intensive Care Active Fresh Deodarant, which I instantly seem happy about, after all Vaseline is a good brand and should keep my skin soft and protected. Excitedly I spray on the deodarant and my look instantly changes to one of confusion and disbelief. It smells awful. The only way to describe the smell is Playdough, it really is awful. The smell lingers throughout the day and I become more paranoid each time someone walks past and catches a waft of the smell. On a more positive note it kept me 'fresh' and dry all day and I thankfully did not need to re-apply, retailing at around £1.50 it wasn't too bad on value.
Personally I cannot get my head around the fragrance, I really do think it is awful. So much so I remember my sister ran out of hers so thought she would use mine and not mention it. I popped up to her room before I headed out and the Playdough smell was creeping out from under her doorway. Might be useful for those who have parents/siblings/children that tend to pinch their toiletries as there would be no mistaking whether they were wearing it or not. My sister was very embarassed when my Mum went into her room and asked what the awful smell was.
Overall I think if you can cope with the fragrance, which wont be everyones cup of tea, it is good value for money. The deodarant does what it says on the can. Keeps you dry for longer and you would only need to use once a day. This is widely available in most pharmacies and supermarkets, prices varying but seem to stay around £1.50. Since using this I hear they have others in their range which smell much nicer, I would recommend looking at the others in the range first.
I was always put off with the Vaseline Deodorant range, as I imagined it to smell greasy, and kinda yukky like Vaseline Gel stuff, so I always bypassed it. However when in Sainsbury's I saw the range was on offer for £1, and they didn't just have the original version anymore, there was this one and another one. I know you're not meant to spray and sniff in the shops, but I gave a tiny squirt out of this one, and decided it smelt quite nice, so I though I would try it.
As I said this cost me £1. I think it is normally around £1.70 for the 150ml spray.
The tin looks alright. It is quite slimline, and looks quite clinical with it being mostly white and just some splashes of blues and green on it. The plastic lid on the top didn't seem to stay on that secure, as I took this with me in my bag, and more often than not it was off. Luckily it didn't spray anywhere though!
The good point of this is it kept me nice and dry through the day. i didn't get any wet patches and although most Deodrants are good at keeping the wetness away, you can find the odd damp bit coming though. The bad point was the smell. Yes, when I sprayed it I could smell a tiny hint of the Vaseline scent, but the Fresh scent which smells like greenery, and a nice fresh air smell was more of the smell I smelt. When sprayed in a larger amount under my arms, I felt it was more the Vaseline smell I was smelling through the day, and I don't like that yukky, waxy smell.
It does the job, but I won't buy it again.
When it comes to purchasing deodorants I'm a demon for it. I own about 15 at the moment and that isn't because I'm a smelly person without it, cos actually I'm not at all but I do have a fear of stinking of BO and as a regular gym user (with a load of hot men) the thought of stinking terrifies me lol.
Now me, well I like spray deodorants really. Ok with sprays you can get the dreaded white powder look but usually you don't get wet and/or sticky pits and I'd rather be powdery than damp when all is said and done lol! However I saw this on offer in my local Sainsbury's store the other day and decided to invest in it cos as a rule I do like the brand of Vaseline!
50ml white container with a screw on/off lid to the bottom of it which protects the transparent and rather large roller ball underneath. The container shape is hard to describe really but it fits in the hand nicely and has ridges to it's sides for ease of grip and handling. On the front label in white and green writing I'm told it is Vaseline Intensive Care Anti-Perspirant Deodorant 'Active Fresh' With Skin Caring ProDerma. On the back label ingredients are listed, a diagram of how to use it is shown, size and the recycle symbol are displayed, there is a bar-code on there and I'm told it is a Unilever product. Peel back that label and contact details for Unilever are given and there is a warning on there and directions for use are given. Overall it's a nice, easy to use product that is plain in design and therefore looks functional and practical rather than eye-catching or owt.
Well because the roller ball is to the bottom of it and you stand it upright every time you go to use this it dispenses the deodorant out very well. All you do of course is swipe the rollerball over your clean and dry armpits and allow it to dry before dressing... it isn't rocket science lol.
Now as I have said applying it is really easy and very fuss free really. The rollerball is flexible and rolls easily and out comes a thin layer of a slightly creamy looking liquid that sort of smells 'green'. It's has a slightly sweet smell but none distinctive and in my opinion men and women alike could use this if they wanted to.
Because it's quite a thick liquid and you can see this when you use it on the skin and it takes a few minutes or so to dry (or you'll get residue everywhere) this is a huge negative for many of us of course and I include myself in that! It goes on smooth and hydrating and when dry armpits really do feel slightly hydrated, none sticky and smell nice and that smell stays delicately on the skin for a good few hours.
I find this to be a none sticky and a kind to the skin formula that gives great protection. I find this keeps me not only feeling comfortable for as long as it's on me but that it gives me hours of being BO free even if I go out jogging or pumping iron on the gym. It's reliable and effective and I've had this on my pits for a good 16 hours before now and they've still felt fresh no matter what I do! However like I have mentioned the drying time of this takes a long time and I usually apply it very sparingly and wipe it into my skin with my hands if I'm in a hurry! So gets 1 star for that I'm afraid!
For me it's just a deodorant I can pick up, use and not give much thought to (apart from the drying time!) and I recommend it even to use straight after shaving said armpits as it's so kind but so strong just add drying time lol.
I paid a pound for mine whilst it was on offer in Sainsbury's but expect to pay in the region of about £1.63 in all good supermarkets and chemists.
This review is also posted on Ciao under the same username.
This deodorant works really well. In my job I do a lot of fast walking and i am constantly busy. The building i work in also gets quite hot and i needed a deodarant that could last the whole day. This is one that does. I do not need to reaply, it seems to give that little bit more extra protection so it is ideal for those that do sports. The product does not dry white or leave marks either, as long as you shake the can and spray roughly 30cm distance away from under the arms.
The only down side for me is that i like flowery or sweet smells and this is more of a smell of soap. So i just use my perfume daily too. But still it smells fresh like you have just walked out of the shower. It is £1.98 in tesco so that is roughly the average prive for deodorants, but tesco usually have offers on with these kind of products. I dont think i will change now i have found a good deodorant that does its job properly.
I have this product, but in a slightly different can style. I got them on offer from asda as a £2 for a twin pack. On the can its says thats is 24 hour protection, and complete with skin caring pro derma.
On the back of the can its claims to :
-keep you dry all day
-contains 'pro derma' (a unique blend of ingredients that helps to protect the underarm skin and make it less prone to irritation.
-None sting formula, even immediatly after shaving
As with any other deodorant, whilst spraying, make sure you hold the can roughly 15cm away from the underarm else it could produce unwanted white marks/waste and possible irritation.
Unlike other brands on the market at the moment, this product doesnt say it has an 'anti white marks formula', which in my opinion is the only downfall about this product. However I cant say Ive had any problems with white marks showing as of yet, so its not as if its not worth buying because of this.
The smell of this product is kind of soapy, like most dove products, I lik this though as it makes me feel very clean. It doesnt stopme for perspiring totally, but it does stop any smell from appearing.
Once sprayed on, it just feels normal and not sticky like som deodrants, it also lasts most of the day, unlike some other products who claim too but actually dont.
Clinically Proven to help keep you dry / Contains ProDerma to help protect underarm skin / Alcohol free
