Wilko Spotlight Body Spray
Body sprays can often be quite expensive, which is why shops like Wilkinson's are great, with a whole Wilko range of body sprays for only 49p for a 75ml bottle.
I had not seen the Spot light one before and so soon found it in my shopping basket and was quite pleased.
The bottle is a black and silver eye-catching bottle with simple lift off lid and press down spray. Upon the bottle it says of this body spray: "Our irresistible cocktail of fruits and flowers will keep you feeling confident while you are turning heads" - I don't know about you, but that just sounded like an advert for an alcoholic cocktail!
It is true to say that the smell is a little fruity and really quite pleasant. It reminds me a little of women's talk or feminine soap though is certainly not an overpowering smell. It does also have a slight perfume smell to it which unfortunately does tend to set off my migraines, though this is more the perfume scent than the strength of it.
The spray lasts a reasonable amount of time as you do not need too much per usage though if you use this instead of deodorant than you may need to spray more often throughout the day/night.
As far as I can tell, this body spray does not affect sensitive skin, at least in my case it does not.
Ingredients include (for those who may be allergic):
Butane, Alcohol denat, Isobutane, Propane, Aqua, Parfum, Propylene glycol, Linalool, ButylphenylnMethylpropional, Alpha-isomethyl ionone, Citronellol, Limonene, Coumarin
It is all double dutch to me though I know some people may be allergic to some ingredients so I thought I would list them!
Overall, I would say that this is a really pleasant smelling body spray which is great value for money.
Recently I have been using lots of body sprays and things like that as I don't always want to wear an overpowering perfume to work so it's nice to have a faint smell that will stay around for a little while but won't necessarily be as strong as perfume.
When in Wilkinson's recently I spotted a nice range of body sprays that were 49p per 75ml bottle or 2 for 87p so I purchased 2 different ones in order to save a few pennies. I am sure that I will be back there again soon trying out some different ones in the range.
This body spray is instantly recognisable as a women's one as it is purple in colour (light & dark purple) and it is provided in a nice thin spray can that is fairly pretty and decorated with a lovely purple heart (just like the passion one that I used recently). The bottle itself displays all the usual information such as company detail, ingredients, safety warnings etc (no naked flames please!). The packaging is fairly standard for this type of product and it's inoffensive so I wouldn't mind this being on display in my bathroom.
The spray itself is emitted in short, sharp bursts when pressed down (like most deodorants & sprays) and as soon as sprayed there is a fairly feminine spray that is a little bit heavier than some of the other ones in the range. The smell is more for a more mature lady in my opinion as it's a little heavy and sickly. The smell is not awful or anything like that but it's more something that I would wear if I was going to be outside a lot so the smell is not quite so obvious. I find that the smell lingers for a couple of hours and it does get lighter after a little while of wear so I am not put off wearing it again in the future. This is one of the more long lasting ones, probably because of the thick, strong, heavy scent so this is not necessarily a great selling point.
I suffer from sensitive skin and find that this spray works fine with my skin and even when I spray it all over it does not cause me any flare ups or rashes of any form. I have used this on and off for the past few weeks along with some of the other body sprays in the range and have had no problems with any of them.
This spray is fairly good quality considering it is available for such a bargain price. The scent is quite strong but does lighten up after spraying and becomes quite a nice scent. When first sprayed it is a little bit overpowering but is not as bad as using a cheap perfume when I want a burst of fragrance at regular intervals throughout the day. A small burst of this is enough to cover up any bad odours such as tobacco or strong food smells. The scent does have a nice feminine kick to it and it's definitely easy to identify as being a spray for women. This is not the nicest spray in the range and while I will not actively seek this one out again I wouldn't mind using it again.
The price of these body sprays is very reasonable and I was pleasantly surprised at how long the sprays lasted for and the quality of most of the scents in the range. I found that even with use a couple of times a day that one bottle of this body spray lasts for around 2-3 weeks and for just 49p each (or 2 for 87p) these body sprays are an absolute bargain and are a great size for just throwing in my handbag so I always have one to hand.
I would like the scent of this particular body spray 'Spotlight' to be a little less heavy but you do get a good burst of scent for your money and this might appeal to other people more than it did for me, particularly if you like a mature scent. I would definitely recommend these body sprays to anybody who likes a nice spray and wants a good scent without spending a small fortune. My personal favourite in the range is the 'Passion' spray as it's just got such a lovely, fresh, feminine scent.
Getting through so many body-sprays I do occasionally try to buy cheaper alternatives from time to time (I've wrote loads of reviews on these such purchases lol). It wouldn't be so bad if I purchased say one decent body spray or week but me... I can easily get through 5 cans a week believe me I'm rather obsessive about smelling nice lol! I love Wilkinson's stores and I've tried quite a few of their body-spray offerings (usually with good results I must admit) and usually costing 49p a can (but do look out for special offers like buy one get one half price or three cans for a pound etc!).
I saw this the other day and realised I hadn't yet tried it out! I was determined to remedy that lol.
75ml cylinder shaped aluminium black shiny can with a drawing of three dazzling pinkish circles on the front and it has a black plastic pull on/off lid to the top of it covering a white aerosol push button dispenser. On the front of the can in white and silver writing I'm told it is Wilko 'Spotlight' 'A fruity, floral body spray'. On the back of the can I'm told a bit about the product, given directions for use and cautions are listed, I'm given a cash-back promise for Wilkinson's if I'm not entirely satisfied with this product and contact details for them are given, size and the recycle symbol are displayed and finally there is a bar-code on there. Whilst this doesn't scream it's an expensive product it doesn't look cheap and nasty either!
A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Can....
An enticing fragrance, to give you lasting freshness. Spray freely all over body.
Directions For Use....
Shake well, hold can 15cm away from the underarm and spray.
My Experience Using It....
Well I use it as directed and onto a clean body! I'm a little confused by the directions for use of this product. This is a body-spray after all and I've owned many of them from Wilkinson's. It ISNT an antiperspirant so I'm not sure why I'm told to spray it under my arms at 15cm away! Other cans in this range do not say that so I think on this batch of body-sprays a mistake has certainly taken place lol!
However it sprays out fast and quite wet (but a clear water is what it looks like on the skin) and it dries into the skin in seconds leaving no apparent residue and no feeling on the skin at all and you can dress immediately really.
Smell wise it's quite strong but very classy. When I say strong though I mean in it's power to fragance as the smell is feminine, natural and airy and not that it's rancid or overbearing or anything. It's actually rather pretty and doesn't smell one bit cheap at all! Which of course compared to many leading brand body-sprays it really is cheap!
The smell of this is mainly floral. None distinct, the flower scent is light and sort of best described as pink in my mind. Then there is a fruity smell delicately sort of under that. A tiny bit zesty helping to ping the notes of the floral out somehow this is over-all a gently sweet and proper nice, grown up body spray! I love it! It's sensible, sophisticated and is still young and fun all at the same time! It's great and once sprayed the fragrance stays fragrancing the body gently all day long! It's a long laster and total value for money and you could do a lot worse than have a sniff at this next time your wandering around Wilkinson's ladies!
