Bravissimo is the original big bra shop and the first place where I felt I could get good fitting bras for my quite big boobies! They have 21 high street shops in the U.K as well as an online store.
I used to shop at bravissimo a lot but I now do a lot of my shopping online and I tend to find bravissimo's prices a bit high. You can usually find the same bra for less on other websites (brastop, ebay, lingerie heaven for example). Bravissimo have built up a customer base who trust them so no doubt can get away with charging that little bit more.
Bravissimo have now started to make their own bras (they used to just sell branded underwear - although they did get some exclusive colours). I have recently got a bravissimo branded bra and it is sooo comfortable- it's definitely not inferior to the likes of freya and panache- more comfortable if anything.
Bravissimo are affiliated to Pepperberry who make clothes to suit the curvier figure. This is quite a unique selling point as not many companies sell good fitting clothes for curvy women.
Overall I like the company, I'm just not prepared to pay more for the same bra that I can find on other websites.
Having been blessed with big boobs for many years now (or maybe more accurately lumbered with them) I was resigned to a life of wearing ill fitting, unsexy granny bras (I'm only 26 :( ). They didn't ever fit quite right, managed to be too small (bulges in all the wrong places) and too big (riding up your back) all at the same time! My only experience of a bra fitting was some 60 year old woman in marks and spencers coming at me with a tape measure and exclaiming, "my you have big breasts!" oh really? I was wondering what these things sticking out my chest were? I didn't go to many bra fittings after that, I generally just tried a few bras on and took the ones that fitted best.
I discovered bravissimo a few years ago having been introduced to it by my mum, after shed been introduced to it by a friend, word of mouth is a wonderful thing. Bravissimos philosophy exclaims that just because you have big breasts it doesn't mean you can't wear well fitting, pretty and delicate bras! I whole heartedly agree with that philosophy.
Bravissimo was started in 1995 by Sarah Tremellen. After being frustrated at how hard it was to get nice bras in her size, she started up Bravissimo as a mail order company that was based out of her living room The company has since expanded to having 21 high street shops and an extensive website that offers lingerie, swimwear and even clothing to fit the big-boobed lady.
I have experience with bravissimo stores and ordering bravissimo online, both good in different ways.
Bravissimo stocks a variety of bras in sizes D-KK. These include sports bras, t-shirt bras, everyday bras, nursing bras, basques and bodies, strapless bras and softcup bras. They also do matching underwear and various bra accessories. As well as bras they do swimwear; bikinis, tankinis and swimsuits. They have also expanded in the last few years into doing clothing, including strappy tops that have inbuilt bras in them, as well as nightwear with boob support. They also have the "Pepperberry" range of clothing, this includes tops, dresses, coats, skirts and trousers, The clothing is designed with big breasted women in mind with more room in the chest area than normal clothing.
Expect to pay between £23 and £36 for the bras, pricey I know but it really is the going rate for large cup bras, and yes I do get slightly jealous when my friends tell me they have gotten 3 bras for a tenner out of primark, but these bras are well made and built to last, so you do get a good quality item for your money.
There are stores located in:
So there is likely to be one near to you!
I have only been to the one Bravissimo store, in Glasgow, but I imagine they are all very similar. The store in Glasgow is brightly coloured in pastel shades with large windows and is very inviting. Once inside there is a lot of room to move about with bras and clothes grouped together by style, eg strapless, sports bras, softcup ect, making it easy to find what you are looking for. The staff are very helpful and if you find a bra you like, but they don't have your size, you can just ask them and they will check if they have it in the stock room, if not they can order it in for you.
In the Glasgow store there are 2 floors, the bottom floor containing the shop and the top floor containing the fitting rooms and the stockroom. You can pick items you like and take them upstairs to try on, if they have located an item in the stockroom for you, you can pop upstairs and they will go and get it, or you can go up for a bra fitting. Now having a bra fitting in a Bravissimo store, that is an experience!
You can book yourself in for a fitting in advance and choose a suitable time/day or you can just turn up and ask for one, they will take your name and you just need to wait to be called. Upstairs, outside fitting rooms, there is a seating area for you to wait in and for any shopping partners to sit and wait for you, it is furnished with squishy sofas and seats with a selection of magazines to read and is usually full of disgruntled men waiting for their partners.
As I said before, my only previous experience with bra fittings is some old biddy coming at you with measuring tape, the Bravissimo fitting experience is completely different and something they pride them selves on, no measuring tapes in sight!
When your name is called you are led into the changing rooms which are bright and modern. Each individual room has several mirrors, a dressing gown, a Bravissimo catalogue and a t-shirt in them. To get started you need to have a wee look through the catalogue and chose a couple of bras you like, the fitter then gets you to take your top off and has a look at how your current bra fits you and what size it is (if you have never had a fitting like this before it can be a bit omg, but they are very professional and the Bravissimo philosophy believes in no tape measures and just using trained staff to look and see if your bra is fitting correctly) they then use this as a guide to what size you should be in.
The fitter then gets a few bras for you to try on, a few different sizes and styles to find one that fits you well. I have had several fittings with different people, some of them will put the bra on you to make sure its on correctly (again slightly omg if you've never been for a fitting before) and some will turn their backs or step out of the room while you put the bra on, of course you can always choose what way you prefer, I am not really fussed either way. The fitter then adjusts the bra straps and checks to see how well it fits, you can also put on the t-shirt to see how it looks under a t-shirt if you weren't wearing one when you came in, particularly useful if your buying a t-shirt bra and are wearing a blouse!
Congratulations, you have now discovered your correct bra size (my first time I discovered I was wearing a bra 3 back sizes too big and totally the wrong cup size), you are of course under no obligation to buy any of the bras you had fitted, but once you have found a bra that fits you so well it will be hard to resist buying up the whole store!
All you need to do now is collect up the items you want to buy and take them down to the till, they will then be packaged up in a pretty little bag for you and you can go merrily on your way.
~Online and catalogue~
I don't live in Glasgow any more unfortunately and I don't have a Bravissimo store near me so I make use of the website and the catalogue. The catalogue comes out every few months and you can have it delivered for free (like me), I have never actually ordered from the catalogue, preferring to order online, but I like looking through it as it is easier on the eyes than trolling through the website.
The catalogue is like most clothing catalogues, glossy with large pictures of what's on offer. The items are grouped together much like in the stores with similar things on the pages near each other. All the items tell you the price, the sizes and the colours they come in. There is an order form at the back of the catalogue, you can also order by phone.
The address of the bravissimo website is www.bravissimo.com
The site is well laid out and is very colourful and girly with lots of pictures. It is easy to navigate with several menus at the top and the side so you can find the particular part of the site you wish to visit. Once you click on a certain option it is further subdivided, like the lingere option is divided into different types of bras, eg sports bra or t-shirt bra so you can find exactly what type of bra you want. There is also a search box, you can type in a catalogue number for something you specifically want, or something more general like "white bra". There is also a "perfect fit guide" on the website, for those of us that cannot get to a store or do not want to have a fitting in a store, it gives you pointers on how your bra should fit and is definitely worth a read.
To order anything from the website, like most online stores, you need to register. All you need for that is a valid email address, then you can fill in your address details and card details when you want to make a purchase. Delivery is pretty fast and they offer next day special delivery as well, if the order is placed before 2.30, so you can get it even faster. Returns are free and you have 28 days to return your items for either an exchange or a refund, I have returned several items before when they haven't fitted, with no problems at all.
I love Bravissimo, like actually love it. I think I would still be wearing completely the wrong bra size if it wasn't for that place. A well fitting bra is just great, it can make you look thinner, improve your posture and literally take a weight off your shoulders (a bras main support should come from the strap round your body, NOT your shoulder straps, learned that from bravissimo).
So to all you big breasted ladies out there, if you haven't all ready given this place a go then I recommend you try it out, your boobs will thank you for ever :)
I have had problems with getting bras that fit for many many years as I have always been small in the shoulder and back but not at the front. My struggle to find a bra that fitted got worse when I had my son and my cup size increased but the band size remained the same and I was left scowering through the shops being looked at like a freak when I asked if they did a size 28F - No I don't have 3 heads! Marks and Spencers go down to a 30 but only in small sizes A-C and Debenhams well not much can be found in Debenhams below a 32 and the search got pretty tiring and I thought I would forever be wearing loose banded bras that fitted poorly until I entered my local Bravissimo. I had never heard of Bravissimo until a friend recommended them as she purchased work shirts from them as she's petite but possesses a huge wrack which leads to the ill fitting shirt with tight buttons look.
I entered the store and was greeted by a young lady in her 20s and was immediately offered a fitting for a nursing bra and although I said I knew what size I was they still recommended a fitting as your cup size can vary dramatically whilst nursing. They picked out a selection of funky coloured Panache nursing bras and yes I was a 28F and I ended up purchasing 2 nursing bras at just under £60. I have to admit that the service was fantastic there was no embarrassment or childishness and the bras were on trend and not for grannies which was what I was scared of.
I would recommed Bravissimo for those of us who are not in the norm size wise and although the cost of the bras might be greater when compared to M&S the quality is second to non as they stock major brands such as Panache, Freya, Royce etc I am looking forward to when I can wear underwired bras again as my choice in bras will be much greater and will definently be purchasing my bras from Bravissimo from now on. Bravissimo also run a website as well as the stores so if you're not close to one you can always try online and they have a decent returns policy which means that if you get the size wrong they will refund or exchange your purchase.
Hats off to Bravissimo
About the Store:
Bravissimo was founded in 1995 by a lady called Sarah Tremellen who found it difficult to find pretty bra's for the bigger bust. It now boast 21 high street stores and us women have never looked back.
Why I love it:
For me it quite literally a godsend being 23 I'm not ready to conform to matronly style bras straight from the 1950s and was pretty shocked at the lack of choice I had within other lingerie shops. As other women will definitely understand I fit into an awkward category being a 30F wherever I went either they didn't do my cup size or didn't go down to my back size so I ended up with ill fitting bras that were a waste of money. It wasn't until someone suggested Bravissimo that I decided to check it out and I'm so glad I did. I went in one day for a fitting and it is the best one I've ever had and they didn't even use a measuring tape.
There is so much choice as well the same bra can come in a range of colours although the only downside is they can be a bit pricey with the cheapest starting at about £25 going right up to £37 but they are worth every penny as mine have lasted ages.
I would say if you have a bigger bust and find it difficult looking for bras that are pretty and flattering, check it out the fitting alone is worth it.
Since I can recall, I have had huge breasts. E cup. I spent my time either saving for Agent Provocateur bras or wearing bras that even my Granny laughed at...until I got pregnant. Then my breasts got even bigger and made AP a no-(wo)man's land. It was Granny bras or nothing ~ and nothing wasn't an option. Well, I suppose it was but that might have been dangerous ;)
So, I tried the regular stores who purported to measure me as smaller than I originally was and with a huge back, and ended up looking saggy and miserable. However, being no expert I just accepted that I was doomed to the realm of nasty underwear.
Then, one lucky shopping trip to Touchwood in Solihull, I found myself gazing through the window of my dreams ~ beautiful lingerie that didn't stop at C cup! I went in and walked around and the staff were delightful ~ there was no pouncing on me as a potential customer and I felt genuinely free to browse at my leisure without being watched.
When I asked if there was a measuring service the assistant gestured upwards ~ they had a whole floor dedicated to it! So, five minutes later (there is an appointment system) I was ushered upstairs and then called by one of the measuring ladies to go through.
When I entered the changing room I was told by the girl who was to take my measurements that this store did not measure using a tape measure. I was a little confused but she asked me to show her what I was currently wearing and shamefully I revealed what looked by that point like an old heirloom of my family from years ago. Instead of gasping in horror, she tweaked the straps and looked at the way it lay on me and said, "No, no, no. Completely the wrong size. Are you comfortable?" To which I replied that I felt rather like the Hunchback of Notre Dame and I was scared to move fast for lack of support. She was very polite and asked what kind of bra I was looking for ~ I was in search of a more supportive nursing bra and a sports bra. She returned with two bras in a 34 double H cup ~ rather different to the 40DD I had been wearing on the advice of another store. I put the bra on and she showed me where it should fit and how it should be adjusted and hey presto, my breasts were back where they should be. I think the look on my face must have been priceless as she grinned at me. "That," she said, "is where they are supposed to be."
The bras have given my body a whole new shape and I feel much more confident about being so large on top now.
Additional Services: Bravissimo also has a catalogue from which you can order but delivery is charged. However, if you are in store and want to buy a particular size or colour that they do not have, they will ship it to you the next day for free!
Bravissimo also sell swimwear, clothing and nightwear ~ all of which is gorgeous. I'll be travelling 140 miles again soon to get my new underwear. Every mile is worth it!
This shop is quite possibly the love love of my life!
I have extremely rather unfortunatly large natural breats and find it almost impossible to find a bra to fit me. At one point in my life i just needed the comfort so had one custom made, it cost me £250 (boo hoo makes me want to cry). And then.... I found bravissimo!
The bra styles, shapes and sizes are especially designed for comfort and support as well as sexyness and prettiness and the prices are great too, £30 is nothing to me after having to pay £250 for one. They are so much more pretty than some of the tee-pee tent style ones i hve had to have in the past. the quality is amazing never ever had a problem with any of mine.
I like the fact you can pop online in your lunch break when you get home from work etc and order your lingerie. and 9 times out of 10 it is at your door the next day if not the day after that with out fail.
It is great you have so many options that make the site easy to use, lots of options which you only have to fill in if you wish, always a sale or promotion and there is never a problem if when you get it home it isn't quite rigth.
Its not even for just big breats its for any one that wants pretty, sexy lingerie, swimwear, clothes etc.
Bravissimo is a wonderful shopping experience for the larger busted lady.
The stores are well laid out and well lit. They offer a huge amount of choice from plain and simple to sexy to decorative.
The staff are always friendly and happy to help. Their fitting service is professional and doesn't make you feel uncomfortable. I have never known anyone to walk out thinking they're the same size bra as when they walked in.
Their selection of swimwear is attractive and very pleasing. It feels wonderful to lie on a beach wearing something you've chosen rather than something that was the only thing that would fit.
Aside from the underwear and swimwear they also offer a selection of clothing, they come in a variety of curviness. The staff are very happy to translate the sizes for you. It is very pleasing to wear a blouse that fits my bust and my waist as the same time. They have branched out from blouses and vests to a whole selection of various clothes.
If you've already visited the store and been fitted properly then they have a catalogue and website which could make it easier to shop.
The prices are more than a little on the expensive side. We're talking an average of £40 for a bra and an additional £10 to £15 for a matching pair of knickers. The bikini tops range from £22 up to about £50 with the matching bikini bottoms from £18 to £25. Swimming costumes are an average of £40. The clothing starts at about £20 for a vest and can go up to anything like £70 for a dress or jacket.
With the underwear and swimwear prices being expensive it's important that these items last well and wash well, which they do.
This is a great shop to add to your comfort and confidence. I chose a few bikini tops and get contrasting bottoms from a cheaper shop. Bra's aren't something you should compromise on, I suggest, if you're a bit short of cash, that you buy a couple of everyday bra's but buy knickers from somewhere else, to save money, and for a touch of luxury get yourself some sexy lingerie for when you feel like dressing up.
Looks like I'm the first man to review Bravissimo....does that make me weird? Oh well, I'm going for it, anyway.
For anyone in doubt, Bravissimo is a chain of lingerie shops in the UK selling underwear, swimwear and nightwear especially designed for ladies with bigger curves.
I don't really remember when I first went into Bravissimo - it filtered into my consciousness around 5 or 6 years ago, I guess...my girlfriend, being a larger-busted lady, started mentioning the place - so after a while we went and checked it out. We've been there many times since and I've often given the girlfriend vouchers for Christmas and so on.
What is it that makes Bravissimo so good? Well, for one thing, I really enjoy that the shop's a haven for larger-busted ladies. It's just lovely that my girlfriend's face lights up when she goes in there - seeing so many things that are nice *and* that come in her size. It's just such a stark contracts to many lingerie shops where she has to mooch around and eventually finds the "heffer section" down in the corner...with a couple of plain bras and some massive granny pants. Going into Bravissimo makes her feel really confident and proud of her curves, which I think is great.
Second on my list of likes would have to be the products themselves - as they're designed with the bigger-bra-size in mind, they're all extremely flattering and they're all pretty and well made. There's a good variety of styles, strapless, cross over, halter etc - and plenty of matching knickers for each bra. I'm also led to believe the bra's are extremely comfortable, but that could just as easily be because of...
...The wonderful staff. I've never spoken to anyone in a Bravissimo store that hasn't been friendly and helpful, even to me as a lone lad wandering in there looking for vouchers or advice. Their fitting service is also legendary - a quick google will reveal thousands of women that had been wearing the wrong sized bra for years, but have found comfort at last with the help of a Bravissimo fitter.
Like the staff, the stores are brilliant - well laid out, everything displayed and priced up clearly, clear splits between the different sections...they have almost a boutique feel to them, but without feeling snobby - there's modern lighting, but it's used to give the store a warm, inviting glow, rather than a critical high-beam. The stores are just nice places to be and especially...
...The stores are great for men. Now, that's a strange thing for a man to say about a woman's store - but it's true. My girlfriend is trying stuff on. Where am I normally in this situation? I'm loitering next to the queue, in the middle of the underwear section of M&S, being glared at by all the middle aged women as they pass the village pervert, holding the bags, praying for the torture to end as quickly as possible.
Bravissimo is just totally different. There's a nice sitting area for men, there's a chilled water machine, a couple of Top Gear magazines...I put the bags down, have a comfy seat, a read, bit of a drink - I'm almost disappointed when the girlfriend's finished and we have to move on, or - as often happens, I'm summoned to the dressing room to give my opinion. Which is another nice thing, nobody looks at you like you're weird for giving your girlfriend your opinion on their underwear. Just a really refreshing change.
Of course, there is the downside - the cost. A bra can often cost 30 or 35 pounds - and there'll be another 10 or 15 to add on for the knickers - and that adds up quickly. But in terms of a shopping experience - and a quality product at the end of it, I really feel that Bravissimo is worth every penny.
As a woman with a slightly larger chest, or as my husband would lovingly say, huge knockers Bravissimo is a godsend for me. The shop in Edinburgh is on Multrees Walk and has only been there for a year or so. Previously to this I used to travel to Glasgow or Newcastle to the shops there - that's how much I need this shop!
My number one reason for loving this shop is that I think it's the only one in the market for women with a larger than average chest that don't want to wear granny bras! I receive their catalogue on a quarterly basis and as well as underwear they also stock swimwear and clothing. I do however prefer to visit the shop and try on before I buy.
I recently visited the shop to get re-fitted. As I'm sure you know ladies, you should be getting fitted every 3 to 6 months and I don't know about you but I find I've changed size every time! I made sure I booked the appointment as they're always very busy with fittings on a Saturday - although I should mention while I was there I heard someone 'walk in' and they had an appointment for 30 minutes time.
When I arrived I went to their changing rooms, which are lovely. There are comfortable chairs to wait on with magazines to pass the time. A nice touch I thought. I said to the girl on the desk I was here to be fitted and they said someone would be with me in a minute. A couple of minutes later a fitter arrived and called for me.
I was taken into the cubicle, which all have a catalogue to look at and a dressing gown for modesty (if you're that way inclined, I'm not!) The fitter who was dealing with me asked if I had been fitted in Bravissimo before, I said I had. She checked that I was aware they don't use measuring tapes and are trained to check an individual bra. I confirmed I know this but again thought it was nice to check in case anyone is uncomfortable with this.
She then asked me to remove my top and asked what size my current bra was, it was 34FF. She quickly assessed that the back was too big but the cup too small and asked what I was after today. I was just looking for an everyday bra, in black. She brought me a small selection and quickly assessed the 32HH (!!) was the best fit. I decided to buy that one and she asked if I would like the accompanying knickers. I said I would and she got them for me.
I went down to pay and the assistant at the counter was very helpful. As I had recently moved address I asked her to change my address for the catalogue - she did this very quickly. She explained that all Bravissimo bras are guaranteed for six months if you handwash them. She then packaged the underwear set in some nice tissue paper and a lovely Bravissimo bag.
My only one tiny complaint about this store is the price. I know you have to pay for quality but this underwear set cost me £44 and many of my smaller chested friends can pick them up for £5. I understand these need to be a bit more expensive but I still feel £44 for a bra and pants is a bit steep!
I became a Bravissimo girl around five years ago and can honestly say I havent looked back since!
The company market themseleves specifically towards girls with boobs above a D cup, and up to a KK cup. They also sell a small range of fitted clothes, swimwear and nightwear.
But back to the bras. Bravissimo began as a mail order company from founder Sarah Tremellen's living room, when she became frustrated at the lack of choice out there for bigger busted girls. Today there are 20 stores on the high street, as well as the website, and the company has become very well known.
Bravissimo's philosophy is that every girl should be able to avail of pretty, sexy bras, that fit well. With this in mind, they recommend their free fitting service, before buying.
Having been fitted, I can vouch for the service. The staff are knowledgable and instantly make you feel at ease with their professional, yet friendly manner. The fitting rooms are large and very comfortable.
Having spent years in uncomfortable, ill fitting bras, I will only shop at Bravissimo these days. Im looking forward to spending some vouchers in there very soon, when I finally throw away my nursing bras!
Ive also bought a dress and a few tops in the past, which fitted really well, accomodating my boobs, instead of squashing them or gaping.
The only small problems I have are that Bravissimos stock is often limited within the shops and it can be hard to get specific styles in the right size. You can of course order online, but thats not much good if you need a fitting. The prices are slightly higher than average too.
What on earth did I do before Bravissimo?? I bought boring bras in the wrong size!
I have been a Bravissimo girl since 2001 when I started using their mail order catalogue and have always been impressed by them.
Bravissimo stocks a wide range of bras in all colours and styles and for all occasions for those of us with boobs that are a D cup or over. They also have a good range of bras in back sizes 28 and 30, which are really hard to find on the high street. I used to get upset when I couldn't find really pretty bras in my size, but Bravissimo seems to be overflowing with lovely, pretty bras. They also have a good range of basic black/white/nude bras in t-shirt, sports, nursing and strapless shapes.
I have always had exceptional service in their stores. On a number of occasions, I have gone in and asked for 'something pretty' and they've returned to my changing room with an excellent selection, even though I didn't really give them much of a brief. One of the things I like the most is that the staff know the stock inside out, down to how the different styles in the different brands fit and any variances in that, which really inspires confidence.
One of their selling points is that they measure you on sight, not using a tape measure, I think this is more accurate as they sell you the bra that fits you, not the bra that is the size they think you are. It takes a bit more time but they always seem to get it right.
The stores are airy, welcoming and really well laid out. They keep a lot of the stock in the stockroom, so the rails aren't overflowing. The changing rooms have big comfy sofas, water coolers, lots of mags to read, and have large cubicles. They have dressing gowns and t-shirts in the changing rooms that you can slip on if you need to call for help, which I like as it saves you from awkward 'head round the curtain' moments.
My only criticism is that I took a friend in to look for bridal wear, and they had a very limited range, and nothing that felt very 'special', which was disappointing for my friend.
Bravissimo are a bit more expensive than a lot of other high-street lingerie stockists, but that is mainly due to the fact that most manufacturers of larger bras seem to charge a lot, so it's not their fault!
Anyone who has, or thinks they have boobs over a D cup should definitely look at Bravissimo - I've converted my mum and best friend to them and they sing their praises like I do
Bravissimo sell underwear, clothes, swimwear and nightwear for D - KK cup women. They have several stores, a catalogue and a website (www.bravissimo.com).
I have been using Bravissimo for about 3 years now, so they have obviously managed to impress me enough to be a repeat customer! I can't remember what led me to them in the first place, but I do remember my Mum getting their catalogue years ago, long before the days of internet shopping.
I place my orders via the internet, but am also sent catalogues at the start of every season, which I find really helpful as I end up looking at and considering things that I normally wouldn't.
The bras available are from brands like Freya, Fantasie, Panache, Miss Mandalay and so on. And to be honest you could get these bras from any website nowadays, (i.e. Figleaves) and in the past I have done so. But recently I have become really loyal to Bravissimo. The catalogue and website photos are all modelled on larger breasted girls unlike other websites, which is really helpful when making your choice, if you see the bra in a small size it's really hard to know what it will look like scaled up to an F cup. It's also worth noting that Bravissimo usually has the new Freya range a month or 2 before Figleaves and other sites, and often has exclusive colours and designs.
Delivery and Customer Service:
Deliveries take several days to arrive, (you can order over the phone to request next day delivery), and come packaged in tissue paper and a cardboard packet with the logo on the front (so if your ordering a present for someone, think carefully about where you have it delivered to or your surprise could be ruined!). There is a returns slip included if you need to send items back, and refunds or exchanges are processed within a few days.
I recently ordered over the phone for the first time and was really impressed with the customer service, the girl I spoke to was really lovely, and my next day delivery did arrive the next day, which was a relief as I was cutting it fine ordering a swim suit.
Bravissimo produce a range of clothes tailored especially to fit girls with larger cup sizes.
You will need to measure yourself (waist etc) before ordering, and there is a guide to how to do this in the catalogue and on the website, to work out your Bravissimo size (e.g. 10 curvy, 10 super curvy).
I was really pleased I took the time to do this when bought dress from them earlier this year as I would normally have ordered a 12, and ended up needing a 10 curvy. The dress is a fantastic fit and well made, it's more of a classic style, which is great for me as it won't date, but not so good if you're a fashion addict and need the latest style. Normally dress shopping is torture for me, finding something that my boobs will fit into without having the dress be too big everywhere else is a nightmare. This dress took all the stress out of it, I ordered one dress which fit perfectly and looked great, I didn't even bother going to the shops at all.
I have also had a couple of the vest tops with built in bras, these are great! It's so nice not to have mismatched bra straps on show, and the bras are as supportive as any of my normal bras. My only quibble with these is the price - I got my 2 in the sale for half price, they normally cost £30ish, and I just can't spend that much. However, if you can afford it, they are well worth even that much money. (You just order your normal bra size).
You really don't need a review of this to be honest, it's so user friendly, all the different ranges (e.g. Clothes, Swimwear etc) are in tabs at the top, one click and you're in the section you need. Once there it's easy to select the subsection that you need (e.g. Coats and Jackets) and from there browse the products.
This review has got far too long so I will put in a little summary:
A user friendly website, a superb range of products and great customer service. What really makes this brand stand out though is their clothes.
(I haven't commented on the nightwear as I haven't tried any of it yet)
Bravissimo is quite simply the company that changed my life. Depending on how you look at it I have been blessed/cursed with large melons. My husbands happy, I'm not. Until I found Bravissimo I was ashamed of myself and didn't know how to dress my baps or what I should even look for and the thought of getting them out to be measured was a step further than my self-confidence was ever going to allow.
One day, whilst leafing through Heat Magazing about a zillion years ago, I saw an advert for Bravissimo that was advertising underwear for girls of a size D-JJ. There was a website you could visit to enter your details and be sent a catalogue.
I went to www.bravissimo.com and had a good old nose around - it's a great user friendly site. There were plenty of bras to choose from and I knew that I was big enough to find something here. I entered my details and sure enough a few days later the colourful catalogue dropped through my door. In fact it has been dropping through my door on a three monthly basis (spring, summer, autumn, winter) ever since.
I hunted through the nicely laid out pictures and chose the style I liked. Now this is where the odd bit occured. How was I going to know my size? Bravissimo claim that they dont need to measure you to find out your size, you need to try bra's on to see what fits you. That's all well and good but the nearest Bravissimo to me is in Birmingham over 2 hours away - why there isn't one in the South West yet is beyond me?
So I phoned them up. I was scared, embarrassed to talk about something so personal but I needn't have worried at all. The lady on the other end of the phone was HUGELY experienced and utterly sympathetic. We talked through the size I thought I was and the problems I was having namely straps digging in, bulging out of the cups and wire poking out at the front. I thought I was around a DD but she suggest I order a GG, H and HH (Holy Heck!!!)
I had to pay up front for the products but the service was so quick and I was refunded the instant I returned the wrong sizes. Two days after I had placed my order a beautifully packaged box arrived and inside was a clear fitting guide showing how things should and shouldn't look. I tried on all three sizes and when the HH fitted like a glove. Bravissimo advise that you do the T-shirt test to make sure you have a great fit and it works, if your boobs look good under a T with no bulges and a great side on vies then jobs-a goodun. I carefully package up the two that didn't fit, affixed the enclosed returns label and popped the box back in the post for my refund.
I was so happy with my purchase and my confidence that I didn't care how Big my cup size was - it didn't matter - the right fitting bra makes you look smaller and better held anyway.
Since that heady day I have used the mail order and on-line catalogue to purchase all my bras (as I said we don't have a shop anywhere near us - other wise I'd happily go to the store). It's convenient and the service is second to none. I have sometimes order the wrong size and had no quibble returns and replacements. I have often phoned the helpline and found the response to be helpful, knowlegeable, friendly and sympathetic.
My bras cost from around £23+ and that's for a LOT of material, but the service is easily worth the price. For underwear sets your looking at £35+. Bravissimo also offer sports bras, swimwear, maternity bras, bridal and corset sets and now they do a range of clothing suitable for the Bigger busted lady. I have bought several different types of underwear and swimwear from Bravissimo and the quality and fit are always excellent. They have a lovely and beautiful selection of underwear, not granny-ish and not slutty just practical and appealing.
Really worth a look and consider yourself lucky if there's a shop near you!
I took my first visit to Bravissimo Milton Keynes last week and I am converted. Never will I shop anywhere else for my underwear!
When I first approached the shop in my shopping centre I must say I felt a little intimidated, being a very casual 21 yr old in joggers, trainers and t-shirt I was quite worried that I would get some funny looks. The shop is laid out really well with lots of fabulous designs of bra's everywhere.
On the wall they have pictures of three women... saying "what size do you think these women are?" and you open a little door under the picture to reveal their size (which is nothing like you would have thought by looking at them), which I found very cool! I thought to myself "this can't be a bad place if customers (who were not tiny stick insects) are prepared to have their half naked pictures hanging on the wall" and felt a lot better about not being a size zero.
I wandered off upstairs to enquire about their fitting service and had not even sat down to wait before an assistant was assigned to me. I took one look and thought to myself "this is NOT going to end well". I was looking at a tiny young girl, who in all honesty looked about 12, with tiny little perky breasts and a 10 inch waist! Instantly felt quite uncomfortable again.... The lady showed me into one of the (very large) dressing rooms and asked if I was happy to take off my top and stand there in my bra - which I did. She looked and Hmm'd for a few seconds and then asked what size I was wearing (38D).
She then explained how the process worked. Basically Bravissimo do not believe in tape measures as they can be unreliable and they go simply by looking. Skeptical - OH YES! So she she pointed out that the cup was too small and that is why the straps were digging into my shoulders, because there was not enough support for the weight of my boobs and my shoulders were having to hold them up instead of the bra.
She says to me "I think your an F - stay there I will go and get a basic bra for you to try and see what you think". By this point I am thinking to myself that this little girl is off her head. An F? Nooo surely not.
So within 5 seconds she is back with a soft cup bra - my worst nightmare. I only wear full moulded cups as the soft ones do not support me properly and I end up with boobs at ankles. I tried on this bra and was totally and utterly dumbfounded. Not only was it the most comfortable thing I had ever worn but my boobs were exactly were they should be, gave me a cleavage and made my gigantic melons defy gravity! She explained that because it was the right size I would be able to wear a soft cup with no problem, although depending on different designs I may need a FF.
So that was it, I took it there and then! £24.50 which normally I would not pay but I parted with my cash in an instant.
When I went back downstairs to pay and the lady asked if it was my first visit, and I said yes. She then asked for all my details, such as name and postcode etc. Being a little worried I asked what for and it turns out it is to issue a guarentee for my bra for 6 months. So if a clip comes out the back, or the wire pops out etc within 6 months I get a full refund or replacement - AWESOME!
She also included a leaflet on how to care for your bra and get the best of out them, which I thought was a really nice touch.
The shop also stocks, as well as bra's, tops and dresses with inbuilt bra's which I thought was a brilliant idea.
I left the shop so impressed that I can't wait to go back and spend more cash! The customer service was superb and nothing was too much trouble. Little Girl explained everything thoroughly and answered all my questions, but without making me feel like an idiot.
I was really quite annoyed at myself for being judgemental and thinking that Little Girl wouldn't know what she was talking about. She was fab.
You will part with about £30 for a bra there but you can really feel the difference in the quality. I usually by my bras at M&S as they are well known for their quality, but Bravissimo even put M&S to shame.
Go there, take advantage of the fitting service, you might be suprised. I was!
