Advantages: Loving the little whrling backstreets

Disadvantages: No vintage shops (not good ones anyway) no primark!

Shopping in Canterboury is an interesting experience.
Though there is the big and new revamped Whitefriars, offering big hit shops such as Topshop, H&M, River Island, Accesorize, Monsoon, Jane Norman (yuk), Boots, M&S, etc etc, there are little sidestreets with interesting little shops and boutiques to be seen!

The topshop in canterbury is not amazingly massive, it is of a small - medium size and offers topman as well on the first floor. It is a real shame there isn't a Primark in Canterbury, considering that there are two main universities in the town, they would rake in a fortune. I think they need to hit that closed down Woolworths up with one of them!

For fairtrade items, there is a shop called Siesta round the back streets behind debenhams, on a corner. They deal in a lot of fairtrade and interesting objects!
Main fashion stores include: New Look, Topshop, Warehouse, H&M, M&S, Swarovski, Karen Millen, Miss Selfridge, Claires Accesories, Ann Summers, River Island, Republic, Jane Norman, Gap, French Connection, Quicksilver, Body Shop, Wallis, Dorothy Perkins, Burtons, Monsoon and Accesorize.

For alternative finds, it isnt very good but there is a vintage store down towards Westgate called Revivals, though the stuff in there is more charity tat than decent products. Funky Monks is also a really weird shop stocking odd clothing and vintage. Kind of like the more curious bits of camden put into a shop, but not unpleasantly. There are small independant shops too - Jeans and Things just stock jeans, as you might have guessed.

Overall it is good to explore the back roads, Kings Mile, and all the little pubs and bits in town, but if you are after something different in terms of alternative fashion then head back to east london.

Summary: A nice change to go shopping in canterbury but could be better!

I love the shop next to Shake Away, that keeps opening as some cheap chav shop an closes again within the month. Walked past today and they were boarding it up, give it a week and chav tastic will be open again.

it's ridiculous, the primark in bromley is really good and doesn't make the place look untidy. they have shops like 'samantha's' which is basically a market stall in a shop, and that really awful market that sells lighters and bad clothes, but they wont have a primark! they are losing out.
