Advantages: trend led and quirky pieces
Disadvantages: random sizing, not enough staff
I love H&M! I can always go in there and see something I like, and I end up buying it in all the colours it comes in as well. You'll find many catwalk inspired pieces, such as checked shirts and dresses that look like separates, so you can follow trends for less than many other stores. A nice top can often be less than a tenner, which you won't find in Tosphop or Oasis, and most of my h&m clothes last and wash really well. I also think you can get some bits with quirky details, such as hook and eye fastenings (I have a top like this, which I have worn for the last 5 years and am always complemented on and it never dates).
The only problem I can have, is that the sizing is a bit random and not great for those of us blessed with bigger busts. I am also sceptical about buying more important pieces such as coats and jackets, but I'm sure that will change as my student loan starts to run out and it gets colder.
H&M also produces a free magazine, which features the trends and has some interviews with cool industry people and has guides for cities you should visit. I cut out a few pages about Berlin that I hope to visit when I go travelling next year. The staff will help you when you need it (though I always seem to find there aren't enough of them) and the layout makes it easy to find the kind of thing you want. I'd definitely recommend popping in every few weeks.
Summary: the only shop i can have a spree in, plus there is a 20% offer on their site
