Advantages: Some nice items, good value
Disadvantages: Not large enough men's clothes sections
H&M stores are located all over the UK, they are a good brand of clothing provider for men, women and children.
Hennes & Mauritz AB is a Swedish company with over 1700 stores in 38 countries, they offer variations on high fashion for reasonably low prices. The stores themselves can be quite misleading, as quite often they are only selling women's clothes and some have tiny sections for mens clothes.
The stores themselves have a wide range of products, the underwear is excellent, they have superb apparels like hats and belts which are much cooler than rival stores, I have never bought formal shirts or suits here as the range isn't good and the products don't seem of the best quality.
I find the store is well maintained although stock can seem untidy, but at my local store, there is a clear dividing line between mens and womens clothes, while womens clothes take up around two thirds of the store, the men's wear section is reasonable with good selections of summer clothes right now, I like the sunglasses, shorts, flip-flops and t-shirts, I do rate the jumpers and casual tops too. I have found that the plain t-shirt range is reasonable at around £4 and hard wearing, the combat trousers and jeans are pretty cool too.
I'm not a dedicated follower of fashion so can get intimidated in some stores, I like H&M as I have the option to buy more adventurous clothing, or stick to more classic items, this means occasionally I will make an impulse buy and enjoy it.
The store does occasionally have designer items as the Stella McCartney collection proved and currently Matthew Williamson has created a collection too, although this is a bit too smart for me, its great to know that high fashion names will make affordable clothes for the high street though and is another good reason to shop with H&M.
The selection of clothing is good, staff are hard to find but helpful once found, there is real value for money and regular sales too which keep people coming back, queuing can be an issue as my local store is always full and the queues can be off-putting when you walk in but persevere and its fine, overall I find my local store is great, the London stores are more adventurous but nice to check out before the train ride home too.
