Advantages: Good clothes, smell of the store, price
Disadvantages: Too dark and too small
Ahhh Hollister another American branded company to visit us in England. I to be honest had never ever heard of this before. The only ones i had heard of were Abercrombie & Fitch (which is soooooooooooo overpriced its insane) and American Eagle which i visited in Puerto Rico (prices were very good and the sales were amazing). Then whilst walking around Bluewater i saw this sign saying Hollister opening soon. I was like ok whatever but my girlfriend got all excited about it. She was lucky enough to go to the U.S and visit this. I thought oh god there goes all my money, again!
Anyhoo it eventually opened and so we went. First impressions on the outside where that it looked really really nice. It looked like someones beach home with the wooden windows and all that. Before entering we were greeted with a male and female that can only described as beach boy, beach girl models. Very nice girls :).
You can enter the store from 2 sides. The left is were all the bettys (girls) clothes are and on the right the dudes (boys). Yep you guessed it, i had to go to the left. Again we were greeted by a lovely worker who was folding up clothes (i could get used to all this). I automatically saw the darkness. Its pretty dark in there, with only spotlights in certain areas which was abit of a pain. The layout was really nice and had a really nice smell to it (maybe because it was new). Shirts and jumpers were all nicely laid out and folded. There was not a unfolded piece of clothing in sight and if there was it was immediately sorted which was very good as it kept the place nice and tidy.
They have all sorts of clothing. For the girls they had tops, shirts, cardigans, jumpers, jackets, jeans, tracksuit bottoms (sweat pants as they call it), beach tops and bikinis. For the boys its all pretty much the same apart from the bikinis turning into swimshorts. They also have nice thick hooded jackets which are soooooo warm.
In the middle part of the store is were the tills are and also some fragrances for both the bettys and the dudes. Again the girls stuff were on the left and the boys on the right.
As you get to the end of the store, there is also a till there but i have never seen it in use. This is also were they have there clearance items. In other words sale items. They are marked Clearance and also have the price on the shelf which saves you from rummaging into the top just to get the tag out for the price. Thats the store.
I now can sort of see what the fuss is about, i have received a few bits from the store and have to admit they are very very good quality. I got a checked red and blue shirt, if was so soft, yet thick too. The prices are pretty standard (tshirts about £20, jumpers £40) but i cant help think how much they are in dollars! I always tend to look around the clearance section as you can find a pretty good bargain in there.
The only gripes i have with the store is that its sooooooo small. surely they knew that there would be alot of people coming there. At one stage we werent allowed to go in the store as it was soooo crowded and had to queue up outside and that queue was lonnnnnng, going up to waterstones (for those who go to bluewater will know how long that is).
They all seem to have planted alot of plants in akward parts of the store and sometimes get in the way which is annoying as your walking around thinking your in some kind of forest in the dark. Yes its pretty dark to and in one case bought a pair of bottoms for my girlfriend thinking they were a dark blue only to find out that they were alot lighter than i thought. Good thing she still liked it!
Overall the store is very good. I always go there (when there isnt a queue) and check out what they have and now and again treat myself (and the mrs) to the odd bit of clothing. But beware the item maybe lighter than what you think.
Summary: Worth a look, you may find something you like apart from the model workers!
