Advantages: quality & price OK. friendly staff. well-planned.
Disadvantages: not a huge amount of choice
Our local QS seems to be concentrating more on its clothing & shoes/slippers ranges than its household goods, furniture & toys - shame really as it used to be a good shop to have a browse & pick up a variety of items under one roof.
It's never been top of my list for shopping but over the years I have managed to find some good Christmas decorations, toys, wrapping paper , stocking-fillers & pyjamas so I was somewhat dismayed to see how much QS had changed when I popped in yesterday. I came out empty- handed!
The shop is a good size, well-planned & has friendly & helpful staff. There is plenty of room to move & browse without having to beware of double-buggies etc.
Once I realised that it was mainly clothes for sale I had a look to see what variety they had & what sort of prices they were.
The quality is OK but not brilliant & I'd say the prices are a lot lower than Marks & Spencers but more than Primark - similar to Peacocks.
Their range of women's clothes was quite good & varied from conventional jumpers to trendy ones in plenty of sizes. There were jeans (non-branded), trousers (all age-groups), a good choice of nightwear (may go back to have a proper look?), standard & some quite trendy lingerie, a good selection of socks & a nice selection of women's boots & slippers. I didn't look closely at tops & skirts but there seemed to be a good selection in this season's colours.
There was quite a good choice of baby & children's winter clothes - again all seemed fairly good quality & reasonably priced in nice bright colours & neatly displayed.
Menswear seemed pretty standard - I never think this is the most exciting part of any store (sorry all you males but it always looks so black, grey & blue to me) but there were plenty of men looking at jumpers & several queuing at the till with fleeces & trousers.
I'm aware that not all QS stores are the same as our local one & that some do focus more on high fashion whilst having separate departments for household & furniture items - so please don't be put off having a look at QS if it's not clothes that you are after.
I may well pop back in before Christmas to have another look at their nightwear & will go again after Christmas because their sales are really good on seasonal stuff - it's worth a browse especially if you have a student discount card.
