All it takes is a quick download and then quickly walking through the installation process - something that takes all of five seconds answering questions about your usage. After that, you will need to spend a bit of time adjusting it for your personal use. Every time a program requests access to the internet it will inform you. Microsoft MSN Messenger Service ... offline and no one can see that you are actually available. However by working offline, you are limited to messaging only, you need to sign in should you wish to send something. I find Messenger great as a work tool, when I am at home. I often work with people from different countries, America being one of the main ones, however due to the time difference as I am leaving the office for the day, they are normally just going into the office, and when I have deadlines to meet, emails are then received 16 hours later the next day which I unable to work with sometimes, therefore it is easier to log online, communicate within a matter of seconds, and enables me to obtain info... AVG AntiVirus Free Edition ... a 2MB broadband connection. Installed AVG on my computer with no problems at all, uses very little system resources and have had no viruses or spyware since installing so seems to be doing a good job of detecting and deleting viruses. Virus definition updates are available at about once day and the latest version of AVG free updates itself automatically. Only problem I've found is the time AVG takes to complete a full scan my last scan took 35mins. I use AVG Free Edition along with Ad-Aware 2007, Mozilla Firefox web browser and Advanced Windows Care V2, all are free and so far I've had no problems with viruses or spyware at all.
