Advantages: Fast, Productive.

Disadvantages: High-End Quality scenes

Max is, for me, the best computer graphics tool that I ever need. No only for 3D Graphics, i used it for lot of purposes, like compositing, scripting 2D Graphics, and an endless of applications.
I'm not telling that it's the best or better than others, just the most productive for me. I work developing interactive games for a TV Channel and the most important of this work it's time, and we always are run-out of it.
That's what we use Max nor Softimage or Maya, ... I noticed that both are better for film quality graphics, but takes lot of time to accomplish a mid-end proyect, meanwhile on Max may take some days and no-headache!
My expectations for a 3D Rendering software are simples, fast, easy to use, lot of output possibilities and, of course, a nice looking render.
I use most of the high-end posibilities of Max for hobbie purposes only and it works really great for me too.
It's hard to create some realistic effects nor eviroments, harder than other softwares like Softimage or Lightwave I mean, but nothing it's impossible to accomplish.
An excelent feature about max are plug-ins, not only there's a lot of it, they work impresionally great!, some not-so-easy scenes are just a click with the appropiate plugin. For example, character animation was always a common problem for users working on Graphics enviroment,... and the wellknown Character Studio Plugin make this task, like I descript the product, productive; Fire, smoke and cloths are good examples for what plug-ins are for too.
An adavantage or disadvantage is that when you 'UNDERSTAND'how Max works, it's the simplest 3D Rendering software you'll ever use; Until this, you'll find max a little complex to do exactly what you wanted to do.
