Advantages: Includes almost everything you need to do professional graphics,web design etc.

Disadvantages: Limited variety of features compared to other versions (CS-CS4), Pricey years ago

Photoshop has always been the application for professionals not only for image editors / web designers, but great to develop photo- editing skills among amateurs ,too. It is the most powerful photo editing application ever, despite the fact that other apps on the market( like Gimp) are free to use or much cheaper. Years ago I bought it from Adobe retailer for 299! Pricey , but worth every penny.

System requirments :128-MB RAM (192-MB recommended) with a CD-ROM drive and an 800x600 monitor with at least 16-bit color (24-bit recommended) with 280-MB of free disk space ( Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP ) . On the Mac, you'll need a G3 or higher with OS 9.1 and 320-MB of free disk space as well. Installation is simple and much quicker than CS3 or the latest CS4, takes only 5-10 minutes. It takes a bit more time to install multilingual spell checker.

File Browser
You can see the images , not just the filenames. You can sort, rank or rename images.

Interface
Looks exactly ( only my opinion) the same like Adobe CS interface. Versions CS - CS4 have different logo and welcome screen.

Cropping
Crop tool allows you to select an area of photo and discard everything else (outside wanted area).

Resizing-pixels -go up or down

Hue, Levels, Saturation
Auto colour, auto levels and auto contrast can help correct and adjust photograph or desaturate them at all.

Web Ready
Package consists of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Image Ready - software that allows you to slice, rollover or image maps in one palette. Support for the WBMP format.

Integration
Adobe Photoshop 7 is integrated with other Adobe applications - Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive, LiveMotion, Premiere, Acrobat and After Effects.

Watermarks
You can mark your photos/ images with copyright info,too.

Tool presets
No need to waste your time - you can preset nearly all tools including brushes for example. Photoshop 7 simply restores your settingswhenever you like. I suggest to name all brushes separately- it is much easier. Similarly, you can save your palette layouts (workspace).

Retouching
Time-consuming option if you prefer to look younger or want to whiten your teeth. Using patch tool and healing brush together remove blemishes and scratches from images . There is a useful red-eye fix feature, too.

It is a great package with ability to produce almost complete web pages, prints, photos. Years ago it was a must to have the newest Photoshop version ( this thing will never change). I've used a host of other photo/web editing programs on PC andMac so i can honestly say : Adobe is the best compared to competitiors. In my opinion it is a perfect application for beginners because you can buy it much, much cheaper than CS4 ( last month I saw it for less than a pound on Ebay!) . It is great for proffesionals,too. I still use it to produce fresh-looking websites and together with Adobe Illustrator software I produce high-quality prints like posters, leaflets or magazines. It would be impossible to cover even a half of Photoshop features, so if you are looking for a specific technical data you should go online - www.adobe.com.
