Advantages: recognises so many types of code

Disadvantages: quite expensive

Coldfusion is by far the best webpage code editor. It recognises, and colours appropriately; html, php, javascript, css, XML, WDDX many more and of course Coldfusion tags. It has tag completion which I've never seen on another webtext-editor. This means that you can select the relevant code from a dropdown box which appears automatically at the appropriate times.

All options can be altered or turned off. eg. the colour coding can be changed to any colours you like or the tag-completion can be made to appear immediately or after any amount of time. Everything is customisable.
It then has further useful options. FTP file editing, database viewing, extensive help files and mapping of your page.

There are many wizards to help you with more complicated code or design. The image map wizard lets you create image maps by drawing the relevant link areas on the picture and then assigning any name, hrefs, javascript extras to each link. It then outputs the code onto your page.

I highly recommend using the program - even if you don't use Coldfusion. After using it, you won't be able to go back to any other editor.

It may be quite pricey, but there are three levels of purchase and a 30 day evaluation period available.
