I've been working as a web developer for a few years now and have used a fair few html editing tools in my time but none of them compare to HomeSite. It is no surprise to me that pretty much all the other web developers I know use HomeSite too. I learned to code using WordPad (ie by hand) and have never much liked WYSIWYG editors as ...

In my exploits at work as a developer I have used any amount of software. More recently I went on a bit of a dig for decent HTML editing software and Active Server Pages editors. The result is the following opinion on Homesite by Allaire. My opinion comes from personal experience and if you follow my logic you will see why I ended up with this ...

I cut my web design teeth on previous versions of Homesite and I owe a lot of my understanding of HTML to the help files it contains. But, as I've upgraded to newer versions I've become increasingly dissatisfied, to the point where the only time I ever touch it is if I'm quickly looking for detailed info on a tag. It ...

Homsite is not really for me. I would rather build my site in something like Visual Interdev. reason being is that I do a lot of ASP type coding nowadays and homesite is just not a powerful enough tool for the job. Its OK if you want to build personal homepages or web sites but even then I would opt for the Microsoft Frontpage type software. ...

I used this program when I used a PC, and I have to say it is the only thing I miss now I've moved to the Mac platform. It was the first raw-HTML editor I used after getting frustated with every WYSIWYG editor from FrontPage Express to Dreamweaver and when I bought it I had absolutely no hand-coding knowledge. I learnt just from using Homesite ...

Allaire's HomeSite is probably one of the premiere HTML editors out on the market, one of the most competitive priced ones - and it's just brilliant overall! HomeSite retails for a number of prices under £100, depending on whether you're a new user or an upgrader, and want a packaged product or not. And it's also not an WYSIWYG ...

This is the professional tool for building and maintaining a web site. It is complex to use and not for web site learners or the computer illiterate, but the features offered are very through. The list of sites produced using this package is no less than impressive while the package itself is defiantly not expensive when you consider the ...

Allaire's HomeSite has been my favourite tool for Web page authoring for the past few years. Even after Microsoft released FrontPage 2000, and Macromedia released its Dreamweaver 3.0, I find that these two softwares lack the freedom, control and help HomeSite provides to authors. Having used Notepad and HotDog Pro for HTML authoring, ...

This is where I started writing my Web pages properly... Before I used notepad! This has some really good features like auto finish (Completes the </****> for you after you write the <***> bit and press space.) colors each tag so you can easily tell which tag does without reading it!! It can crash a bit though (well for me!!). ...

This program is possibly the best tool for designing websites that I have yet come across. It is certainly aimed at people who understand HTML (though not necessarily know it since it has a comprehensive dictionary of tags). The format is the standard WYSIWYG view/HTML view swap, but it is quite intelligent about the way it works in HTML view, in ...

First it scares you then you get used to it. Homesite, By Allaire software (www.allaire.com), is probably aimed more at the professional developer rather than a home user. With offerings such as Dreamweaver why would you want to write your HTML manually? Well, for one, you can write smaller pages. But thats not the only reason. What if you want an ...
