Advantages: Allows you to view all images easily, Modify images, Can print to page

I wonder how many of you have ever used your “Kodak Imaging”, which is found in your Accessories section in Windows.

Personally I never took much notice of it other than a cursory glance and at that time thought of it as something that was not of much use.

Several months ago I started receiving documents by email, which had been scanned in JPEG format. I needed to get these printed and as I usually do I opened them up under by Picture Viewer (Windows ME) and proceeded to print them. What happened was that these JPEGS had been sent in such a way that they were magnified four fold. No matter what I did I still could not get my print settings to get this printed in one page ie. Fit to Page. This option was just not available no matter how much I tried.

In desperation I tried Imaging and opened the file with this program. The relative file opened and when I selected “Print” I was given an option to print in 1) Actual Size, 2) Fit to Page and 3) Pixel to Pixel. I naturally selected “Fit to Page” and presto I got my document printed on one page.

Since then I have been regularly using Imaging for my entire JPEG or BPM image printing and have also had the opportunity to delve deeper into this innocuous program.

Imaging for Windows is a program that has been provided to Microsoft by Eastman Software Inc (A Kodak company). The company has now changed to WMS Inc (eiStream Inc) and they produce various software for managing of documents, including Imaging.

The version of Imaging supplied to Microsoft is the basic version and if I am not mistaken all computers, running the Windows operating system, have it under the Accessories feature.

Imaging allows you to display documents quickly when you do not need to change them.

You can enhance black and white display with grayscale. You can move from page to page and also rotate and zoom the pages, either in or out.

I ha
ve found Imaging the excellent way to manage my picture documents and have set it as my default viewer.

The Help function is extremely useful and addresses most issues, solutions and problems that you may encounter.

I presume that most Windows users do not utilize Imaging in any way. I strongly recommend you to have a look at it and I am quite confident that many of you will be quite pleased with the features and clarity available from something that is absolutely free and available on all computers.
