iTunes:
... is the real thorn in the side of Apple s sweeping market dominance. When it works, what it does is fairly good and a breeze to use, playlists are very easy to create, songs are easy to locate, but the thing is fatally flawed. Since having iTunes, it has crashed twice on me, deleting everything in the library, which to be honest, makes you want to throw your computer out the window. Windows Media Player doesn ... iTunes ... remembers Napster?? The old Napster, not the legitimate type knocking around these days! That was what many people used to play and store their music with...and then came along a piece of software from Apple which has become somewhat of a phenomenon - iTunes. In concept, all it basically does is list all the music stored on your computer, but of course it s more fancy than that. The songs listed in the library can be selected by you - it doesn t just automatically list all audio files on your computer - and listed in various formats - alphabetical, song duration, genre, album, number of times played etc. etc. And then it gets a bit snazzy...you can create particul... I can download podcasts easily and import music so that it is organised and all in one place. I can download videos etc... for free from the iTunes store and I can even (if I ve got the money) rent or buy movies or entire TV series . Actually anything and everything media all in one place which is not what WMP can do. So why do I like it and why do I use it? Well the answer is simple; I can download music simply, easily and cheaply from the iTunes stores saving me from going elsewhere and importing it, as with mo... It is simple and can either be downloaded from a CD or from the internet at the apple website. It is the only program that iPods can use so it is very important to anyone with an iPod as they dont work with windows media player etc. Although the downside is if you for some reason decided to sync your iPod to a second iTunes then it only updates you with the songs which are on that iTun...
