Advantages: Great detection rate
Disadvantages: Lacking in some features
Now here's a product worthy of some attention! After converting from Norton 360, this product is fabulous is every way.
First it's free and you can't get much better than that. Second it is very low on resources and loads up as soon as the OS has loaded. Third it has a very high detection rate, one of the best.
So let's look at why it's sooooo... great. Its low resource usage means you can do everything you expect to be able to do whilst the background program runs as it should, in the background. Even with Vista taking up most of your RAM and graphics capabilities you can use AVG and write a letter in Word, write email in Outlook and do a presentation in PowerPoint without even knowing AVG is running at all. Having just checked it's using 430KB of RAM which is great and no CPU what so ever.
AVG has a detection rate that rivals most paid anti-virus programs and although it lacks in certain features it makes up for it in other ways. It features email scanning and slow scans to increase detection, plus AVG updates its database everyday and downloads to your computer automatically.
Give it a try, its free after all.
