Advantages: Nice interface, scheduled scans and automatic updates.
Disadvantages: Low detection rates and VERY slow during scans.
AVG Antivirus Free
This is a free anti virus program which has been very popular in previous years; it offers many features to keep your PC safe and has a nice, easy to use interface.
Resident Shield: Which detects programs and processes being opened automatically or by the user and lets you know if any pose a threat to your PC.
Virus Vault: This is where any infected file is help once AVG detects it as a threat and once its here it can no longer do harm to your PC.
They also offer unlimited updates for the life of the product which are usually done automatically daily. There is also a scan schedule which can be set to run at any time which suits you or scans can be run manually.
However, in my opinion this is not the best free anti virus software out there for the following reasons:
* A low detection rate compared to other free anti virus.
*Hogs system resources slowing down your PC, even more so during scans.
*Scans take many "hours" to complete (my PC does have many files however only around 70GB worth)
There is however, a version of this which you must pay for at £30 a year which is much faster and has improved detection rates.
I would recommend Avira Anti Virus which I have also reviewed and have used for the last few years after finding it so much faster and it has a much better detection rate. Why pay for something when you can get the same level of protection at the lowest price.
Thank You For Reading.
Summary: Not the best pick of the bunch.
