Do you pay for an antivirus program or subscribe anually to the one pre loaded in your PC for updates.

Theres no need because Girsoft give away a very efficient antivirus program from the site http://free.avg.com/, They offer paid versions with firewalls etc... but you should take the free one and get your firewall free from www.zonelabs.com (Zonealarm). A web designer friend of mine actually told me that its more effective than the big players software as most virus writers have them in mind when designing their malware so AVG tends to pick it up better.

Once downloaded the program is easy to set up and its just a question of clicking next a few time then finish, you should check for updates regularly and run scans often. The icon sits in the taskbar quietly and monitors the system but lets you know if anything is up.
