I have used AVG for the past couple of years and have not had a virus or spyware in that time. That may be a coincidence but it is good to know that it is there.

It is very unobtrusive and minds its own business for most of the time. It updates itself when available automatically (although you can stop this if you want) and runs a scheduled scan however frequently you want it to.

When it find anything suspicious it either cures it or puts it into quarantine to protect the computer. The speed of the scan is not stunning but I guess this is down to the hardware more than the program.

The user interface is easy to use and very little knowledge is needed to let it get on with what it does and manual scans and updates can be started easily from the home page.

Overall I would recommend this program to whoever wants the peace of mind that knowing your computer is protected brings without having to spend a fortune on expensive anti virus packages.
