Advantages: good freebie
Disadvantages: takes time
For anyone wanting an anti-virus Free Edition this is a good place to start. It’s easy to install and use and doesn’t take long to download. You can download this from many Internet sites just put in ‘AVG Anti Virus Free Edition’ and I am sure it will come up or download it straight from www.grisoft.com.
It is very good for a free edition and does most of the jobs of Norton. It regular and automatically scans your hard drive very thoroughly going through each file.
Although, it does annoy me that there’s no indicator to how far it has gone it and it can take a long time. However, it is FREE and for a freebie it is very good. In the last month this software has picked up one virus, which was in a very old file although my computer wouldn’t have died from it, it was good to know that it was doing it’s job.
If you haven’t got Norton then this is a good free edition, we have Norton and this so if there are any viruses in our computer they will be detected. It’s very hassle free and after awhile you won’t even realise it’s there until there’s a virus, then just ‘click’ fix the problem and it will start deleting the file with the virus.
If you use Outlook Express to send and receive mail, then this anti-virus will make sure that all incoming and outcoming mail is virus free. So, you will have no problem opening your mails.
The scan is conducted once a day and apart from taking a couple of hours to complete which can be the disadvantage, but you will have the peace of mind of knowing that atleast that your computer is virus free.
We use this with Norton and together we think that our computers protected, if you don’t have any Anti-virus software on your computer, I would suggest this anti-virus software, easy to use and it works.

computer rite?? i find tat AVG is far better than Norton... coz i had been using norton since 2 yrs ago and tat
software keep giving me problems... especially the liveupdate which is very slow and after downloading,
the msg box will appear and tells u " YUR VIRUS DEFINATIONS IS NOT UP TO DATE " but how could it be??!!
i jus downloaded using LIVEUPDATE!!! and manual downloading of virus definations from symantec website
fare no better... seems the problem persists... next, the renewal of subscription of norton software which costs from over $35 to $50 i think... which is very expensive to me... so... i prefer to give AVG a try... I had been using AVG for a week now and there's no problem... easy to use and good in functional!!! wadsmore!!!
ITS FREE!!! so, i highly recommand AVG antivirus... try it!!! and also download the STINGER VIRUS REMOVAL from MCAFEE... i highly recommand... if 2 of these software works for yur computer, i can guranteed u there wont be any problem.... but if u dont believe wad i had said bout norton AV, u can give it a try to use their software and tell me wads yur comments.... most of my friens find Norton sucks!!! me too..... at first when i had jus bought my com, i am very happy since a naive child, i thought " NORTON IS THE BEST......" but now, i change my mind... I haven yet tried MCAFEE... so i cannot give any comments bout tat software, anyway, u can post any comments to me... gd or bad, i will appreciate as long as u give a gd explanation.... once again, thanks for yur time and feel free to post comments to me... and if i can help u, i will..... see ya... |
