Babylon is a great reference tool. The free software includes dictionaries in different languages with an added thesaurus, it can translate to around 90 percent of the world's languages, can convert all sorts of things from different currencies to measurements and can find encyclopedia articles with a click of one button. First I will just get this out of my system. I love this programme! It is free but I would gladly have paid for it. OK, now I'll just explain quite why I got to that point! Babylon (both the Lite and the full version) is a translator programme, initially aimed at people whose first language is not English, and through the predominance of English in the Web, wish to translate from English into their own language. For this reason, it only translates one way, from English, into the 'target' language.
