The BBC iPlayer was launched on 25th December 2007 and allows anybody with an internet connection and a computer screen to watch television or listen to radio programs which have been broadcast over the past seven days on any of the BBC channels / stations.
This fantastic system is completely free and does not even have to waste lots of your hard drive space, due to the significant lack of having to download any of the programs unless you want to. I have never went for this option as it is so easy to just watch the program online as it is.
To get started, you go to the address -

and you will be guided to the home page. Some of the more popular shows in certain genres are highlighted at the top of this screen, and this is sometimes a great reminder to watch programs you had un-knowingly missed.
If none of these take your fancy, you can search by browsing each of the categories until you find something you would like to watch, or, if you have a more specific idea, for example 'Later Live... with Jools Holland', you simply type this into the search box at the top of the screen and select search. The screen which will then load is one which displays all of the programs available which are related to whatever was typed into the search box, much like any search tool anywhere else on the internet.
Then, you simply select the play button and specify if you would prefer to watch in normal quality or high quality, sit back, any enjoy free television.
It's hard to think of how to manage without this great facility and it certainly does make things a lot easier, by reducing the need to set tape recorders, or Sky+ boxes, plus the quality is exellent for what you will require.
