A great way to catch up on the TV you miss (BBC iPlayer)

Advantages: Watch anytime that suits you, good quality

Disadvantages: You need a reasonable internet connection, only available in the UK

BBC iplayer has become one of my most used programs since starting university. The concept is fantastic and I am not the only one who has found it incredibly useful.
As a student I dont have a TV in halls during the week, although there is one in the common room but we rarely use it. During the week I am generally too busy to watch TV, but at weekends I can catch up with all the shows I have missed through iplayer.
There are two main ways of using iplayer, streaming the media and watching it while connected to the internet, and also downloading programs so you can watch them anytime.
I find that I download a lot of programs because it means I can watch them without having to be connected to the internet, and the quality is improved. Once you download a program you have 30 days to watch it, and once you have watched it, only 7 days after that. These times do limit you, but not severely, lets face it, if you haven't watched the program within 30 days you're unlikely to watch it at all.
Streaming is hassle free, and provided you have a reasonable internet connection, you should be able to watch without any pauses.
