BBC iPlayer is arguable one of the most revolutionary developments in television viewing of recent times. BBC iPlayer was first made available as a beta tester on the 25th December 2007 and has since adopted a redeign that was implemented on the 25th June 2008 a new-look iPlayer was launched. The site is genuinely very aesthetically pleasing and very simple to operate.

BBC Iplayer allows viewers to catch up on TV that was broadcast on any BBC channel or radio station in the last seven days. It does this by encouraging users to stream the content. After seven days the content is removed and replaced by the most recent television broadcastings. However, users can download content which makes it available for 30 days.

BBC iPlayer faces others revivals such as 4oD. However, although channel four hold more content this is consequently broadcast at a lower quality. BBC iPlayer now includes a "high quality" option when streaming for those with good internet speeds. This ensures high quality sound and picture. The fact users already pay a UK television licence fee means the service remains free and undeniable excellent.
