An amazing innovation in on demand television (BBC iPlayer)
Member Name: laser1234
Advantages: Ease of use, great sound and picture quality, range of platforms Disadvantages: None The iPlayer is a stunning innovation from the BBC. If you haven't tried it recently, it's also dramatically improved from its previous incarnations. Programmes are available in excellent quality, instantly, through streaming, and even in HD if you have a fast enough connection. If not, you can still use the download manager to get the HD content with a slower connection, which looks absolutely amazing. Sound and picture quality are excellent anyway, and the site itself is very easy to navigate and search. Radio player quality has also been recently improved, so it sounds even better than before. And there's now a massive range of programming, with BBC local radio stations also added. You can watch the programming on a wide variety of platforms, including iPhone, and can download to Windows Media Player for use on your Xbox 360. Some programmes are also now available for longer than 7 days too, so you can catch up with your favourite series if you missed the initial episodes. Summary: This is the ultimate on demand television platform. Loads of choice and very ease to use.
