BBC I player
Last summer I stayed in a hotel in America which had the computer hooked up to the television. I was very impressed by the set up thought it was fun being able to listen to my local radio station being so far away from home. I decided to try and recreate the set up on returning home initially for internet radio. Finally after three trips to maplin I managed to get the correct cables and I was up and running. Being a regular visitor to the BBC website for news and sport it didn't take long before I was hooked to their iplayer.
What is the BBC I player?
The iplayer is a web based service provided by the BBC which allows users to watch BBC programmes on demand at a time that suits them. Programmes appear to be available on the site to watch approximately one hour after they have appear on the BBC channel. Programmes are available for free and depending on your connection speed can be watched as they are streamed.
Layout/user friendly
I believe that the website is very user friendly and easy to use. The iplayer link can be found on the main BBC site (www.bbc.co.uk). This site also provides the links to the seven most popular shows of the day or you can go directly to the iplayer homepage where you can search for your desired programme or browse through the programmes available. Once a programme is selected all you need to do it to double click it and it will load up in a new window. The window can be maximised for full screen viewing.
My opinion
I believe that this is a great service from the BBC. It's extremely useful for when I have been watching a drama or show spread out over a number of days and missed one episode. I can simply visit BBC iplayer and catch up on the show that I have missed out on. The selection and quality of programmes are very good and the availability means that I have even tried out some shows that previously I would not have watched.
Since discovering the BBC iplayer I have branched out used four on demand, itv on demand and sky player. BBC iplayer is by far the most simplest and easiest to use and has the added bonus of being advertising free. Overall I would highly recommend this service to anyone as they are sure to be able to find something to suit their tastes.
