Disadvantages: Sometimes slow streaming

The BBC Iplayer is an On Demand video service, that offers the chance to watch BBC shows up to a week after they have been shown on TV. It allows the user to either stream or download the show. In some of the more popular shows, it offers a series catch up, which means that you can watch all the episodes of a series whilst it's running.

It looks brilliant, with a sleek black and purple design, with inset video thumbnails. It really does look like a proffesional, sexy website. On top of this, navigation, and finding the show that you want to watch is very easy. You can search by channel, day or keywords.

The streaming experience is also very easy. A big player screen is thrown at your face, in a choice of quality, which means that you can choose the quality that suits you best, and means you don't need to stop for it to buffer. At peak times videos do take a while to buffer, which can be very frustraating, but on the whole it makes a smooth viewing experience.

The Iplayer even does the little things, like saving where the video left off, in case yourr computer crashes or something. Compared to the channel four on demand service, it shines. It doesn't have adverts, it's easy to find a video, its quick streaming. It's perfect?

Summary: It justs leaves it up to the programming department to make the shows to watch. The perfect vehicle.
