Advantages: It's free!, great quality of video, aesthetically pleasing.
Disadvantages: if you have a slow internet you need to let them buffer for a while,
BBC iPlayer is a catchup service provided by the BBC service allowing people to watch programs online if they missed them earlier in the week or to re-watch if they liked it that much!
For students the BBC iPlayer is a life saver as currently as it is not live broadcasting there is no need for a TV lifesaver, allowing students to watch their favourite shows without the un-needed cost. (Student life is hard enough as it is!)
====== Ease of use ======
The site is very easy to use, you can search for what you want if it isn't listed as one of the favourites and you can look at what was most popular today and the previous day. They layout is aesthetically pleasing and does not bombard the senses.
====== Quality of videos ======
Watching programs on iPlayer is literally like watching it on tv, it is not like some services that provided a rather pixellated view, it will require some buffering before you can play the program unless you have a very quikc internet connection but the buffering time is not particularly long but is deffinately worth the wait.
====== Features ======
iPlayer allows you to bookmark your favourite videos and also suggests shows you may like to watch based on your current choices this is find very useful and has lead me to discovering some shows which I had not watched before but now very much enjoy. iPlayer also allows you to enable a parental filter to stop the kiddies from watching some rather adult scenes in something like The Tudors!
Overall I find iPlayer very easy to use and considering it is free I cannot recommend it enough!
