Advantages: Where do I begin! LOADS!!!
Disadvantages: You have to go out and buy the CDs (which can be quite pricey)
When I heard of an emulator for the PC that ran Playstation games, I thought 'nah, it can't be done.'
I was wrong.
I searched for hours to find one of these out there, only to stumble across a screwy one that I can't remember.
The early versions didn't include any video footage, or 3D graphics, so they were rather pointless, unless you're really up for beta testing.
Then I got word of a NEW emulator in production, called Bleem!
'Visit their website and find out, I was told.
So I did.
Every week I'd go online to find out when it was gonna be released, only to find out that there were problems with development, or legal battles with Sony.
When I got an email from one of my friends that 'IT'S OUT!!!', I quickly downloaded the latest beta version from their website.
I was amazed! Although not all of the features were included (CD audio and 3D graphics), the emulator worked like a charm!
Immediately I put in my favourite game, and mucked around with it for hours.
As I only had the beta version, I whizzed over to my mates house a week later, as he went out and bought the REAL thing.
Stereo surround sound, top quality 3D graphice, great movie clips etc...
I was stunned!
The only thing I was concerned about was 'is this legal?'
I went back onto the Bleem! website to find out, and had all of my questions answered.
'Yes, it's legal,' I read. The main reason that this is legal, is that it DOESN'T screw over Sony, the manufacturers of the games.
Unlike other emulators which require ROMs which must be downloaded from the internet (unless you have a mate who's already got some), this emulator REQUIRES the CD to run. This mean that Sony STILL make their money off the games (which is where they make most of their money anyway), so they couldn't really moan!
As
soon as I've upgraded my PC, I'm going out there and getting it.
If you want my opinion, GET THIS!!! It's by FAR the greatest emulator out there on the market, so get up off your lazy backsides and BUY THIS TOY!!!
