Reference managing software is a Good Thing. Anyone who's doing a hefty piece of research really needs something to keep all their references in order and easily accessible. Now, as a PhD student, I'm basically skint. Also, my department is too stingy to buy Endnote, which is apparently the top-notch reference manager that most people use. I must say, I can hardly blame them when it's £200 a pop and you can't get a site licence (or so we were told). So I went in search of freebies.
