This program, available from www.touchstonesoftware.com works by connecting a number of times to the internet, each time changing your computer's settings. It then compares the results of a benchmark download, and optimises the settings before rebooting. It may be neccesary to run the application a few times for the best results.
I have gained a noticable increase in browsing speed, and an incredible 50% increase in file download speeds.
Gotta be worth a try, there is a free trial version or the full version costing $40 us.
