... all you may ask if this application is any good why would it be free, there must be a catch? Basically Comodo make security certificates and so are trying to build brand awareness. One of the ways of doing this is putting out good quality free security software such as this firewall and anti-virus software. The software is just under 80MB to download and comes bundled as part of the Comodo Internet Security package - you can also install the anti-virus module if you wish. As part of this review I didn't as I alread...more

Do I really need to install a software firewall and if so which one do I need? This was the question I was asking myself after I stumbled across an article showing how well (or not in the case of many) certain virus, spyware and malware protection packages where performing. Of course with a bit of doomsday marketing everyone may presume they do. And if I do need some extra protection which product should I use and would I need to pay for it? I will try and answer the question to do I (you) need a software firewall first. Then take a look at a specific package - in this case Comodo Firewall. First off a very quick explanation of what a firewall is ...  Read the complete review

CONFESSIONS OF AN INVETERATE FIREWALL INSTALLER Installing a firewall on a Windows-based PC even sounds like a good idea from its very name. In a virtual world that borrows heavily from reality for its emotive terms; terms like 'virus', 'infected', 'spy' and 'trojan' , a 'firewall' does indeed sound like a good idea, and conjures up images of a flame-proof barrier saving you from the conflagration outside. No-one's using 'safe room' or 'storm shutters' yet, but give it time..... Indeed, using a combination of firewall, ant-virus software and a spy blocker would seem to have kept my PC free from trouble for some considerable ...  Read the complete review

---->Freeware Firewall<---- It's not very often you get something for free, Zone Alarm was good to begin with, but un-installing it started to get complicated, one of the reasons I chose to use Comodo Pro, anyone looking for a firewall, I would point them in this direction. It is 100% free so you do shouldn't really have to buy a fire wall these days. ----<Why Use It?>---- Comodo has a learning centre that soon gets used to how you operate your PC, after a few times of switching it on, and it has probed you for some info, it is doing what its best at, sitting back keeping a careful watch over your PC. ---->Whats ...  Read the complete review

I installed Comodo Firewall Pro, as well as Avira Antivir Personal, to replace my McAfee Antivirus and Firewall. My subscription to McAfee had just ended and I was unwilling to pay their extortionate renewal fee, so I hunted down some free applications to protect my computer. The source of my free applications (I have others as well to protect my PC including Site Advisor and Ad-Aware amongst others) was the www.download.com website- part of CNET.com. CNET.com is a site worth checking out and I suggest you read some of the reviews about it on dooyoo! Installation was easy enough, so what's Comodo Firewall Pro (with Defence+) like? The main window displays the ...  Read the complete review

I had been using the McAfee firewall that was provided for free by AOL, but after switching to SKY broadband I needed another free firewall and decided to try Comodo Pro. I'd read a lot of good user reviews about Comodo Pro in many magazines, forums and sites including download.com. I've had Comodo Pro installed for the last 6 months, it installed with no problems at all, at first it does ask a lot of questions but this is the same for every firewall with outbound protection, it quickly learns and now quietly protects my PC only popping up when updating or installing new software, when this happens it simple a case of switching temporally to ...  Read the complete review
