Computer Associates (the makers of Inoculate) produce mainly business applications, one of which is the business orientated version of InoculateIT. This is a very expensive piece of software, but the good news is that there a version for the home-user and it's FREE. This is InoculateIT Personal Edition. UPDATE!! Finally got rid of the virus my PC had, it took 4 days to eradicate it and yes, I had anti-virus software (see below), but it didn't pick it up. We've now got PC-Cillin instead. This virus is prolific at the moment, so be careful for it, it comes in attachments ending in .scr or .pif or .url. It's called BADTRANS-B, this is different to the A version which came out in April. I have used a number of antivirus products in my time, including Norton and Dr Solomons. While these programs certainly provide maximum protection, they have a lot of background tasks running eating up memory and messing up other applications, not to mention numerous programs that launch on start-up and god-knows when else which can also cause problems. (slight update - see the bottom of the opinion) I had, of course, left it too late to get an up-to-date virus checker, and someone in my family ran the Snow White virus. Cue getting cut off from Freeserve, the computer slowing down at random times, Netcape crashing lots, and general woe and pity.
