Corel Photo-Paint 9

Corel Draw is one of the best packages for scanning, image editing, and just plain having fun. My family uses Corel Draw to make birthday cards, scan images for our business, and teaching our 4 year old to use a computer. This program can do just about everything. We take family photos from our digital camera, and paste them onto a blank page, then put text and graphics around the picture. First of all if you are new to desktop publishing (DTP) and photo/picture editing "Photo Paint 9" may not be the perfect choice for you. The interface is very user friendly, but learning how to use the program to its maximum potential can take a beginner a considerable amount of time. A would definetely recommend it to anyone with abit of experience in photo editing or owners of the "Corel Draw" series. A couple of years ago, I began using CorelDRAW 3 to create simple property location maps and to incorporate scanned images such as photographs and topograhpic maps onto templates that are used in the reports that I write for work. It was easier to use than AutoCAD and Microstation and the complexity of the diagrams were simple enough that CorelDRAW 3 could handle them. I'm not saying the CorelDRAW 3 could have replaced our CAD (computer aided design) software, but I did use CorelDRAW for simple diagrams that need to be completed fairly quickly. My experience is 80% PC and 20% Mac with 6 months working on a G4. Whilst using the MAC I was introduced to Photoshop and Illustrator, I have nothing but praise for these original, stable and effective applications. However, I am now forced to work with a team of guys who use the Corel Photopaint applications for photo manipulation for a web design company. This is an amateurish attempt at ripping off the Adobe original. For example: The masking features key to manipulation don't show up.
