CleverKeys ... is brilliant! Superb! Splendid! Terrific! I love it! It’s really good! Who’d have thought that such a diddy computer programme would ever bring me to such a level of excitement? Had anybody ever suggested that this would happen to me, I’d have said “ha, ha, ha.” I just do not get excited about these things. I find them useful, but I don’t get excited about them. Did you hear that? I don’t get excited about things like this. It just isn’t me. Vocabulary Master ... you’ve ever tried to learn a new language at home, you may understand that it isn’t exactly easy. Not if you’re aiming to become very fluent anyway! The ‘Teach Yourself’ packs give you enough knowledge to get by on holiday - some set phrases to memorise and enough knowledge of grammar to form sentences, along with a few words - numbers, days, months, etc, but not much extra. ‘Teach yourself’ is a good starting point, but that's all they are - they give you the knowledge to say ‘I like’, ‘I do not like’ and ‘I would like’ but only a couple of examples of each. ‘I like chocolat... Systran Enterprise ... some German friends, I thought it would be very useful to have some translation software, as my German is not very good yet. As luck would have it, a computer mag featured a demo version of "Systran Personal" - the only limitations were on the amount of languages it would translate to/from. The full version has twelve language whilst the demo had six. It claims to be "intelligent", recognising things such as word contractions (I'm instead of I am) and phrases including slang and common sayings that may be considered as "bad English" but are in everyday use.
