I have always wanted voice recognition for my PC, so last week decided to go and buy the Dragon naturally Speaking 5. For anyone that does not know what it is, it is software for speaking in to a headset and it appears on your scree in chat, word and many others. To install it on to your PC, all you have to do is put the CD in your hard drive and follow the on screen instructions. When you first start using it, you have to train it for your voice. My boss returned from an exhibition, loaded with goodies. Using the company credit card, he'd purchased various pieces of software, some of which the company required and others which could only described as "experimental". The one he was most excited about was an offering from Dragon Software. He was so excited that he took it home with him that very night. We saw him the next day, bleary eyed and in a less elated mood. I havebeen using computers for many years, in work and at play. I worked hard and played hard. Eventually it all became too much for me and my body said no. Except I didnt realise that was what it was saying. I just thought I was a good hard worker. Then one morning my hands wouldnt work. They still (1.5 years later ) dont work properly, but I can now at least communicate with people on my computer again, and given the opportunity, I am sure I could work again.
