The main problem with Excite PAL (apart from the sad name) is that, as you can probably tell from the lack of reviews, nobody uses it. That's not really very good if you want to talk to people. The software itself is rather good and I'd rather use it than ICQ or AIM, but unfortunately I have MSN Messenger, which is much better than all of the rest. I really wish I liked this, because for some reason I've developed some sort of fondness for excite, but I'm afraid this product just doesn't cut it. ...

I installed Excite Pal, thinking that I wouldn't use it, and only originally did so to talk to someone who had it installed. It was a small download, and quick and easy to register and install. An icon sits in the systray and on the icon bar, which annoyed me a bit, as there is apparently no way of just having it in the systray. The preferences available are good, with assorted connection preferences, which make it a good solution for people behind firewalls. You can hold either 1 to 1 chats or conferences and you can see who is online among your friends are their names are green if online and black if not. If you go away, you can choose to leave ...
