Advantages: Easy to use, you choose which details you want on it

Disadvantages: Offer Companion - see opinion, security possibility

I downloaded 'Gator' from my Spedia Bar (For full details about Spedia and why I not longer use it see my op 'Warning Spedia Bar') however that aside I was very impressed (and still am) with this free piece of sofeware. Basically once you have put your details into the system it can assist you in filling out form and remembering pretty much all your passwords. You can also password protect it so that others with access to your computer don't get access.

Form Filling

When a form appears on the net the Gater window opens up automatically or can be opened manually if the form is not recognised. In some instances clicking on 'fill in' will automatically fill the whole form, or ocassionally you need to drop and drag items to the form manually. Still a lot faster that typing all the details. If you want to you can also put your payment details (Credit Card Number)into the form to make online shopping easier. I have not as I don't use a password and would rather my kids do not 'accidently' buy goods online.

Password/UserNames

When you first put in a user-name and password (such as the one for dooyoo) a 'Gater' box jumps up and asks if you it to remember these details or you have the option to turn it off for that site. Beware however for 'Gator' can not remember changing passwords (i.e. if you need to put in different letters of a password such as when logging on to First Direct banking) so it is best to turn it off for such sites, this also keeps them more secure.

Thats about it, certainly worth a try as its free, and can be downloaded from www.gator.com

One minor disadvantate is that you have to download (automatically) the offer companion that comes with it and from time to time this pops up with a variety of offers, at first this is OK but it can get a little annoying and I have not been ablr to find a way to turn it off without losing 'Gator' as well
.

I have additionally been told that the information stored by Gator can be used to send you unsolicited mail, but I have had no first hand experiance of this.

Hi.
Just so that you are aware.
Gator also installs "Spyware" onto your computer, that can access all your private information for its own purposes. eg. Credit Card details.
I took it off for this reason. Maybe you should read some of the other ops on this topic.
